These All Quiet on the Western front quotes hit me hard. I read that book a few years back and it literally changed my view on war forever. They really did just send kids into a muddy field to dig their own graves and kill eachother inside of them, take away all the complicated politics and that’s all it was. Just kids killing eachother in the mud.

In case you haven't found them already, Kanonenfieber are another excellent blackened death metal band, more in the mold of 1914 than Minenwerfer (some metalcore-esque moments as well, oddly enough). Songs are also WW1-based, though primarily in German (they also have a song in English, specifically in response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine).
