Thank you!!! I’m still working on editing videos to share from PRI. It will give me some wiggle room to plan out future engine focused content. I’m so pumped to have you here!
When you take on a task such as this the #1 thing to do is have a plan and stick with it. Is is a rebuild? Is it a restoration? Is it a 1/2 restomod? Is it a full restomod? Whatever you decide stick with it. To deviate could cost you a lot of money, time and unneeded stress. #2 stick with it. For most builds people tend to lose interest for several reasons. It took too long, life changes, ran out of money. You have to be dedicated, don’t let the project idle for too long, you’ll loose track of where you were and what you were doing. #3 be careful of who your dealing with, a lot of guys in the automotive world promise the sun moon and stars but ultimately just waste a bunch of your money, I’ve seen it. P.S American auto wire has the best factory harnesses, I’ve used them! Have a great day and keep it fun (it won’t always be)
My dad bought me a '69 Camaro for my first car. He passed away from COVID and I bought a '68 SS Camaro off eBay in his honor. It needs everything !! I have bought almost everything and I'm almost at $40 grand. I just need to get professional help to get it finished. I like your story and I have subscribed ! 👍
Oh that’s so exciting! It’s going to be such a great feeling to finish that car. Grief is no joke, im sending you all the positive vibes on your journey
It can be extremely difficult assembling a car that's already been torn down even if your the one that's pulled the car apart time fades the memory. Your best bet is to get a GM assembly manual for reference.
It’s definitely a mountain I’m excited to climb. I do have an assembly manual. Pretty much everything I’ll be doing is aftermarket, so it gives me wiggle room as well with the blank slate
Dude I was so excited to hear you use Blue's name during the video. It is so cool that your dad knew that this was the color you wanted that's why it's so special. I'm with you I have never assembled an engine and to build one and see it run....Boom!!
Awesome car! And just so you know - You can find your rear gear ratio without any disassembly. There is a TH-cam video by klowny1969 called "How to Calculate Your Rear Gear Ratio Without Taking Anything Apart!!" that shows the technique. The available gear ratios were 2.56, 2.73, 3.08, 3.31, 3.55, 3.73, 4.10, 4.56, 4.88. Whichever one of those numbers comes the closest to what you see under the car is almost sure to be your ratio. For example, with a 2.56:1 ratio you'll see 2 full driveshaft rotations plus 56/100 of an additional rotation (slightly more than halfway around).
That’s cool! I appreciate you sharing the info. I had the rear end done a couple years ago and chose the gear ratio they put in it. I just don’t remember off the top of my head, it’s in my receipts somewhere
First time viewer, What an amazing story! Can't wait to see your next uploads!
