For those wondering, this doesn’t teach anything. There’s no deep mental training with what they were asking, they were just being confusing on purpose because of their power complex
In the military this is what we refer to as “fuck-fuck games”. It’s purely to make you confused and miserable. I’ve been in this kids’ positions way more times than anybody should, and you get used to it when you realize it’s all bullshit and you’re wrong either way. I suppose that’s the training value of it.

As someone who served 5 years in the military these instructors sucks…
They got their lessons and methods from BUDs. They're not introducing 18 year olds into the military through BMT, but they are breaking down young teens with immaturity-built walls of stubbornness and pride and building up new ones of assertiveness, diligence, and responsibility. They teach them to become men that are critical thinkers, reliable, and possess an advanced skillset. If you were in the military, you should then understand the importance of intel. All information on the instructors and their program is readily available.
@@thomasfarrish8053 As much as I'd like to believe that is true (9 years served) this doesn't teach responsibility and diligence. In fact, the kids that didn't go crawl would make more sense, because instead of "having fun" they stayed at their post and waited for a proper order. I work in the intel community. Our one last line in our quals, we would give a kid a Rubrics cube and tell them they will never make a supervisor until it's solved and they can't leave this room with it. The number of people who solve it in the most ingenious ways is insane. You don't use trick questions to teach assertiveness. You instill discipline and a frame of mind.

I had a tough upbringing which I have valued greatly from but one thing that didn't help me was situations like this. Those kids are just confused. They don't know what you want out of them. Some of them think it's a trick and they're supposed to stand up for themselves and some don't want to embarrass themselves in front of their peers. It's not cheating to give some actual guidance beforehand.
Ya its incredibly dumb. Its one thing to do this in actual boot camp, still think its dumb but at least they're all adults who can realize just standing there is not what the sergeant wants. But this is just a mock jr boot camp. The last thing these kids need is to be confused and screamed at for being confused. All these kids understand in this situation is to be quiet and follow instructions. And they're just ganna shut down and give up if they get screamed at for doing what they thought was the correct thing to do.
I mean, if the consequences for failing was a slightly raised voice, then I'd say all's well that ends well.

You can't play tricks on people and then get mad... when you tricked them... like wtf these are teens and kids who are looking for guidance. You give clear directions and reinforce those directions. What they did here was basically bullshit at best and bullying at worse, not a lesson.

Make a decision and stick to it... thats what.... these tests are to see who are the leaders and who will make a choice and then act on it and commit. These arent just stupid games, there is purpose to it. For example, the kid who walked to the mud then came back.... that shows a lack of commitment to his decisions and second guessing himself and can also be a sign he is a follower and not a leader. They wanna see who is gonna be the one to say "fuck it, i want some more" thats what they are looking for.

it's not necessary. it is wasting their childhood. if you don't know how to raise a kid properly don't have one. this is just traumatic and does nothing. the kid will return home hating their parents even more and will act even worse.

@@alldaylan tbh, these kind of teachers are the best for normal young men suffering from a variety of things including lack of discipline and motivation. Ask anyone who is ever been in special forces, (not airforce) they are trained to become disciplined, to be made strong mentally as well as (sometimes) physically. Part of this is breaking the person down and building them back up, stretching them beyond their limits to achieve growth. This is one of FEW ways to truly achieve discipline, strength, motivation and build bonds between boy and father (assuming the relationship is already fine) that being said, this kind of thing dosent work for those who may have learning disorders or disorders that keep them from learning normally.
You can never go wrong screaming "LIGHTWEIGHT BEBEHHHH!" or "YEAH BUDEHHH!" then proceeding to perform the action.
