Seeing as she stood for social justice during her time (despite confusion over the intent of some of her more dated songs), she would probably be just fine with "the kneelers".

Perhaps I would even have liked UTBU! ;) As I mentioned in another comment on this page, I think the combination of Tony Randall and Betty White with the regular panelists and John helped to make this the best of the post-Dorothy episodes that I've seen so far.

He was very good at comedy, and then turned to drama (_M. Butterfly_ on Broadway) and then founded the National Actors Theatre. One of the best interviews on the talk shows. Finally, he loved Chaplin's _City Lights_ and I love that film too. I miss seeing him on TV. Of course, he'd be 102 by now. Hard to believe he died 18 years ago.

She did, after all, preach racial tolerance in years to come. It is all the more ironic that, 90 years later, NUTTY white party radical conservatives have brought racism proudly back into their mainstream especially by nominating a white nationalist for president and enabling his attacks on all minorities. The White Party has learned nothing about tolerance and equality. Back.to.square one.. Tony Randall is very much in his 1950s Harvey Weskit/E.K. Hornbeck persona on the most recent couple or three episodes on which he is a guest panelist. (That refers to his characters in the TV show "Mr. Peepers" and in the original Broadway production of the Jerome Lawrence/Robert E. Lee play "Inherit The Wind.")
And when he said, "I wish I may, and I wish I might," that reminded me that, 12 and a half years later (1978), he would tour in a summer-stock production of "The Music Man," playing Harold Hill very, very well - including a 5-week run at the Arie Crown Theater. I still feel privileged to have worked many performances of that show's run (as an Andy Frain usher) during my summer vacation. Tony Randall personally was outstanding - and the production of the show was absolutely first-rate in every respect! (Barney Martin, who would play Jerry Seinfeld's father on "Seinfeld" a decade and a half later, played Marcellus Washburn in that production.)

My friend was the President of the troop. Some of the activities were outdoors, but primarily the males participated in the camps and summer camp trips. Any organization is honorable to the extent that the leaders are upright, respectful, and transparent. Unfortunately, the Boy Scout organization has had to file bankruptcy for reasons of which the public is well aware. I have yet to hear damning information about the Girl Scout organization.

Nonetheless throughout all these years you were first class performer and a first-class human being. You were definitely a bright and shining star in Hollywood. Oh how we love you and how we shall miss you you were one of a kind a person who seemed truly good and real and unassuming. May you rest in peace

Kate Smith wasn't so much a singer as a force of nature. She had an incredible voice in the 1930s and in the 1970s. It is interesting to watch her sense of her audience in action both at the beginning and at the end of her appearance.

For a time during the game itself, I thought she was getting a bit annoyed that she was not being guessed, but during the interview and exit after the game, it was clear that she had thoroughly enjoyed herself, and she seemed pleased to have fooled the panel. To use one of Arlene's frequent exclamations -- I'm glad! ;) Perhaps it was just the difficulty of using such a high and squeaky voice that made her face look strained at times during the game play.

@@brich2929 Deeply disappointed in a society that turns it's back on it's honored citizens. It's a fact of history that morality changes from time to time and from culture to culture, so I abhor the fact that we are applying our values on people and culture long dead. Slavery and racism were never OK, but virtually every civilization and empire has had it. The classical Greeks had slaves from everywhere, treated women horribly and condoned pederasty. Shall we now ban Plato and Euripides from libraries? George Washington owned slaves--- do we strike him from the history books? How do we learn from history if we strike the imperfect from our past and pretend it never existed?
