it actually appears that Rei may have been an alternate reality version of Lucas as Rei commits that pasio looks familiar but feels different which implies he's from the modern day world but pasio dosen't exist in his time its possible that Akari is just an alternate reality of dawn as well

Rei (at least in the Masters continuity) is just some guy who looks like Lucas from a similar time period that he is from. They have different heights, models, and voice actors in both English and Japanese versions of the game. If the Pokémon company really wanted the fans to think that Rei and Lucas are the same character (or a different version of the same character) they would have told Dena to make it more obvious that they are meant to be the same character. Rei doesn't recognize Dawn or Cynthia as people he has met before, but acknowledges that they look like their ancestor Akari and Volo. Also Rei mentioning that Pasio seems familiar to him, doesn't mean Pasio doesn't exist in his time, but that it just seems familiar to his original time period (most likely referring to the morden technology). If he was in Kalos, he would probably say the same thing, and that wouldn't mean that Kalos didn't exist, probably means he is not in the right region or time period (Rei could possibly be further in the timeline, which could mean his comment is that the current technology isn't as advanced as he remembers).
It might be a predestination paradox where Lucas only exists because Rei was destined to be brought back to the past to start his family tree. Rei pretty much spit his coffee when Lucas said he was from Hisui's future.

So since Pokemon introduced their own multiverse...it is possible that Rei is from the D/P or the Platinum universe...and Lucas and Dawn are from The BDSP universe or vice versa
In the Pokémon Master canon, Pokémon Platinum is canon for the Sinnoh region, with Dawn being the protagonist. According to Masters, Rei is his own character that has no relation to Lucas besides looking like him.

Irida and Adaman even counters this with the fact that Dawn and Lucas have different body language than Akari and Rei. This interaction is breaking my brain. From what I understood, the character that you play as in Legends Arceus is the same character from Diamond and Pearl, hence their natural battling skills. And the character you don't play as is the ancestor of the other character. What this game is telling me that Rei is from the future, but he's not Lucas, even though he looks just like him. Huh??????
One of em has to be "Dawn" or Lucas because they fell out of the sky into the past. I think Shinnoh champ Dawn was just taking a stroll and some portal opens and she just ends up in the past.
