This is very common unfortunately and in my African American community most men and women do not deal with their trauma and do not release the effects it plays in their lives in others. I can relate to his story. It is important deal with mental health and all issues in the past because they just come back in a different way in your present life. I am so glad this man came forth to share his story. Maybe other African American men on my community will do the same and we can start healing as a people for the generations to come.

I really wish ppl would seek help from their traumas vs going out doing stupid stuff to cover up the pain. Seek help it’s nothing wrong with saying you need help as a man, woman or child

Not trying to take away from what you are saying, but I told people what happened as a child and they covered for my abuser also had a situation at work as an adult they covered for him too. Sometimes when you seek help it doesn’t always work out the way people think it’s going too. I told a therapist once about SA and she told me at least it wasn’t insertion. The only person that can help is God because people will let you down all the time.

Him saying he played spear the queer brings back so many great memories. And for those who don’t know, it’s a version of football. I think every black man as a child was taken advantage of sexually…..and not by men but by women. It’s hard when you can’t process things like that, when you aren’t even given the opportunity to do so. Rough that he has to come to growth in prison, but at least he’s come to growth

Like everyone else I see his accountability. However I see you not wanting to play with him also . I'm proud of this brother immensely. He has a real plan of action. He's not complaining, but doing self work to facilitate changes, to help others. Everything he said from politics to trauma is on point.

He briefly mentioned about growing up early and having to help pay rent when in 3rd grade.
I actually faced something similar as a kid. My parents would sometimes ask me to borrow money. And I think it's a combination of paying bills and gambling. Cause they would often go out and gamble.
And I was in elementary school so I was like maybe 7 or 8. In my mind it made me not trust them and even hate them. And yeah definitely developed trust issues.
Cause they're the adults. Like how embarrassing and pathetic is it to ask your child to borrow money? And the money I get is stuff I've saved from like birthdays, new years, and miscellaneous gifts.

wow i really resonated with the "you are not 1, but 3" mindset💕. i would say you are who GOD sees you as, in lieu of who other people see you as; because everyone is deeply flawed in unique ways & everyone has different opinions. But GOD says we are his children, we are capable of all things good, and we are forgiven💕💕4:30
