    As a 19yr old first-gen American and daughter of strict parents this made me cry. I’d also like the mention that this fall I will be leaving and moving out to college as well. If you’re reading this and are in the same situation that Simmi was in don’t lose hope! Work hard and continue moving forward. Trust that one day you will make it out just like all of us did 🫂

    The way Simmi felt comfort in nats videos is me for the past year. I am the only one with strict parent in my friend group and no one gets me. Like I always have to face the “ whyy can’t you go out?” questions and the truth is I don’t know why I can’t go out ,I really don’t but now I have Nat who like I do have a relatable storyline with.Nat is literally my therapy.
    Love you Nat ❤

    i think i’ve slowly been commenting more every podcast because i feel comfortable around you guys. i find so much comfort hearing nat talk about her life before moving out because im currently there. i find nat’s story inspiring because we are the same age & struggle the same. i feel stuck rn because i want to move out in general but with my bf. my mom gives me anxiety & it gives me such a weird fear of disappointment when it comes to her & i has me fighting a battle mentally. it has gotten to the point where i don’t even want to talk about it with friends anymore because they pity me or tell me that it isn’t normal & that doesn’t really do much. i feel like i can’t express my feelings. knowing someone else went through the same & is now thriving, i hope my life can one day look like this. i wish i could fast forward the storm fr but thank u guys for being vulnerable & willingly telling ur trauma because it does help others 🩷

    As someone who grew up with such a toxic environment and I’m still currently living in it, it’s so refreshing to know that there’s people who understand what I’ve gone through the past 20 years of my life and it’s crazy how people on the outside of your life have no idea what’s actually going on and how mentally draining it is.

  • @klzlde_
    @klzlde_ 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +7

    I can definitely relate to her because I also had strict parents especially my mom. I wasn’t aloud to go out with friends or stay after school activities, friends birthdays parties like it definitely did sucked because I did felt like I was trapped at home in my room, I went through depression and anxiety. It was just so much pressure that I would have because my mom was in control of my life so I pretty much wasted half of my teen years doing nothing.!!

    I have been a silent viewer of nat since 2019. Now it’s my time to comment because I relate to having strict parents on so many levels . I was never allowed to go out with friends , go to school events , have sleepovers , go anywhere alone , got my phone taken away at 10pm every night and so much more. I have 2 older sisters who as soon as they turned 18 they left the house with their bfs bc of the strictness . You would think that my parents would’ve given me more freedom after that happened but no . Years go by and as soon as I turned 19, I leave as well with my bf . Almost 21 years old now , and it’s the best thing I’ve done . It’s hard honestly you miss out on a lot and don’t get to experience stuff . Thank you for opening up about the reality of having strict parents bc it’s not talked about enough ! 👏🏻

    Being a parent isn’t easy and coming from a Mexican household I’m 33 I have 2 kids and my parents wouldn’t let me go out and I couldn’t date until I was 16 my parents were on me life isn’t easy but I thank my parents that they molded me and thought me so much because who knows how I would of ended up to be if they didn’t. No one is perfect and your parents do what they can to protect you from this crazy world. When you guys become parents you’ll know why your parents treated you that way. This new generations thing life is easy and everyone is loving this world is so scary and you have to protect you kids. The day you guys have kids and learn to be a parent it will hit you that your parents were trying to be the best they could. When we are young we think we know it all and guess what you don’t be grateful and also don’t hold grudges on your parents they had you love them care for them and thank them

    Keep healing your inner child! 💖🌸 sending you guys so much love! A lot of the healing you guys are doing your parent will heal from it too.
    I give you guys (nat & Jake) so much props to both to be able to live alone with being so young 20/21. As a 28 year old I could not imagine my self living alone with my husband at that age. I do feel that the healing does began more deeply when you move out of your parents house. I know for me and my husband it was a turning point moving out of our parents house and with each other back in 2020!
    Nat that was deep! “They tried to protect you & they damaged you instead” 🥹 I hope that both of you continue to be on your healing journey! ✨💖
    We are going to need a part two for all the other stories! lol also I love that Simmi said this is your sign if you want to create content! 🤗 I love the shares & vulnerability of her shared!
    I have so much empathy for you and your story. It’s crazy all that you experience. All the lying is wild and is crazy that sometimes parents don’t realize they don’t make their kids feel safe enough for them to share with them how they truly feel. I know that was an experience

    i remember back in 8th grade, my parents took my phone and grounded me for 3 YEARS all because i was talking to a boy. and it was middle school so it was never anything serious it was just the fact i had a boy in my life. having no phone through high school was absolutely miserable, i literally had to ask my friends to borrow their phones during class which was so embarrassing but i just felt like i was missing out on so much
