Well Nick, that was an astoundingly awesome hike and you fully captured the beauty in your video! Loved it from start to finish! The time lapse and your cinematography, so incredible the whole way and making it seem like we were right there with you! It just shows that you don’t need a lot of fancy-schmancy contraptions to capture the true beauty of the wilderness that has been gifted to us. All it takes is you and your Go-Pro! Wonderful job!
I just did this same hike without ever seeing this video and I was just as amazed as you, absolutely stunning place my god. The fishing in columbine is actually amazing by the way.
I've been watching all of your hikes, this is one of the best. You have inspired me to get off of the established trails and discover new views. This one looks awesome and I just put this on my list of hikes! Thank you. Please keep the videos coming!!
Thanks WJH! Some of the best summits are the ones that are off trail. Less traffic too! I only saw a few people on this hike when I got back down to the lake.
Beautiful views! Thanks for taking me along through your video. I loved seeing those two unnamed lakes below. There's a trail up to them cutting off from the 4th of July trail. My Explorer didn't like the road up, when we did Lake Dorothy.
Im gonna have to look for that trail over to the lakes. Those were beautiful. Plus someone else commented you can hike up to the saddle of Jasper and Neva from there. That would make getting both on the same day possible. Maybe next year.
@@nicksangetta8874 One of my favorite pictures last year is a puddle of red algae between two rocks with Inkwell lake, flowers, and snow dunes in the background. The contrast between the blood red & the fantasy alpine setting really sets it off.
Thanks! The cloud coverage really helped the video. Made the colors pop a little more and made for some good timelapses. I love seeing the cloud shadows go across the mountains. Thats my fav.
Incredibly beautiful hike. I loved your intro with the cow moose and her offspring in a picturesque setting. The mist hanging above the water of the reservoir shows your artistic touch. The approach hike passed through such pretty meadows. If you never went to the top of Mt Neva, this is a worthwhile hike. However the views from Neva are outstanding. I understand your 2-hour dalliance with such scenes. As you said, this and Mahana are two of your most beautiful hikes. BTW, your eastern approach of Hallet was not a hike fail - it was an incredible effort with gorgeous views. With my injury this year, I will never again do Longs. But maybe I can aspire to go up Neva. Even if I only get to the lake below Neva, it looks like such a pretty hike. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks Gilbert! You cannot go wrong with any part of that Mt Neva hike. Even coming up the eastern side to Lake Dorothy is incredible. I hope the injury doesnt stop you.. I got pretty far on Hallett but my absolute goal was to hit that high point that sticks out and take the glorious hike across the top part to the summit. So in that sense it was a fail. I later read the couloir hits 50 degrees at the very end. I don't know if I can ever get over that.
That was beautiful Nick, I was thinking the same as you that it had all the views as you were walking! When you got to the base of Mt Neva I was thinking how the heck are you going to get up that! lol...but it looked easier then what your video showed . I agree that was a TOP TEN hike! Hope your mom is doing well after her little fall an her arm is doing ok
Thanks Lauren! My mom's arm looks 100x better. Almost healed, theres just a hole there kinda. Its chunked out. But yeah, from below Neva looks intimidating. But once up there its pretty easy! Just walk up! That first high point on the ridge is the worst. Once over that the rest is cake!
Awesome video Nick! I wish I knew about this route when I was living in Colorado. I looked at the class 4 ridge but decided that was a bit much for me at that time. I’ll need to come back for a visit and hike this one.
I made it part way up the east side and have seen that class 4 ridge. Nope! Not gonna try it. I wish I had the skills though, one could do some cool loop hikes if could get over that section. I thought the class 4 was the only way for a while too, thats why I started obsessing when I heard about this route.
12:55 So you can actually take the low point between Jasper and Neva (seen here) to get back to the 4th of July Trailhead--keeping it class 2. In spring / winter, this is full of snow and makes for a fun and easy glissade. When I climbed the Juliet Couloir in June, this is the path that I used.

One of your best hikes. Love the views!

That’s a beautiful summit you’re right
The view of Neva at the beginning looked so intimidating! Thanks for the detailed video as always

Always excited when I see a new video out!!
Thanks Noah!
Ty for the shoutout Nick. Congrats on the summit. You really captured the beauty of that hike so well
Thanks again Jun! One of the best hikes of the year so far! Amazing the whole time.
Probably my favorite video that you have done. I’ve taken that same route up Neva. Camped at Columbine lake. Thanks for the video! Awesome!
Thanks Mike! That is an incredible area back there. Hopefully the bugs weren't as bad when you were up at the lake.

Awesome as always brotha!
Thanks Jamey! Add this one to your list. You will love it.
Getting amped for Mount Lady Washington, Nevada was beautiful!
I might come up with something better.. whats the date you are here again?
@@nicksangetta8874 I live in Thornton,CO but have the last week of August all the way til after Sept.3rd
The beginning of that week works best for me,have a four day trip to Leadville at the end of that week for labor day weekend
9:40 I love spotting red algae
Great summit! It's fun to see this without snow.
I did not even know red algae was a thing! Pretty cool.

Looks like a beautiful hike without crowds.
Only a handful of people out there and I only saw them when I got back down to the lake. Great hike. One of the best.
Awesome awesome video! That looks so strenuous too! Just amazing views!! We loved the time lapse!!!

I might have to try that route someday! Maybe try to get both
Great video. Which peaks in the Boulder watershed are off limits? I thought this one was but obvious I was wrong
I think Arikaree and Kiowa are in the watershed
Great video! Just my opinion, but take out the music and replace it with the sounds of the outdoors....
Red algae
Very cool! Now I know.
