I would hold the boxes bro. Still Go into Scarlett and violet but maybe move something else, Evolving skies will go up to 2k eventually just my thoughts
I agree evolving has plenty more room to climb. Happy with my decision though ill take a 3x to spread my risk 😊

Do you sell al of your boxes or do you keep 1 of each set? I am thinking of selling my last evolving skies boosterbox and put that money into scarlet and violet era sets but its not an easy desision.
Ive kept one for now, but Ill probably sell it at £1k.
I’m with you! Been doing the same as you for a while now. Selling a couple of sword and shield boxes here and there. which covers the cost of a case in the newer sets! Sold 2 boxes of evolving skies and brought 2 cases of paldea! 2 boxes into 12. No brainer!

@@PokePond I’ve only ever paid retail on booster boxes, I’m all for selling at the right time for me! Yes they will go up even more, but once they get high like around £1000 or more a box, finding a buyer is a lot harder. Prime example, had a box of team up for sale for nearly 5 months at £1000 and not a sniff.
Its nice to have boxes worth thousands but the reality is when you wanna sell it theres no buyers cause most people dont have 5k to burn on cardboard. Sell while the market is liquid go into another set and do it all again.
Love this take and interesting to hear your reasoning! Also nice to see a fellow UK resident considering prices on this side of the pond. S&V set pump coming, so many good sets and we're not even half the way through.
In your opinion, as an investor and as collector, do you base this off of just your experiences of selling boxes and looking at the sells? Or do you also base it off of the cards inside?
Because in the middle of the night as i was looking for what cards i wanted to buy for my card collection, i started to think about which eeveelutions had the best art, and the only good looking eeveelution cards were mostly in Evolving skies. I think thats why its starting to raise in prices because of the art in the cards and people's favorite pokemon. In Rebel Clash and base sword & shield, they dont really have good art in their cards just basic large pokemon taking over the card and no environment or details like the sets after Battle Styles.
Yeah both, The strength of the card and the set as a whole, how hard those chases are to pull and the current pricing all pay a factor. For example the Greninja in TM is almost impossible to pull, much like the Umbreon in ES. So I see some growth there

There is a lot more to TWM that makes it one of the most likely best purchases right now as well.
This is one of the only sets that I've ever seen where the hits have, just a week AFTER STREET DATE RELEASE, rebounded back to roughly their 1-week prior to release preorder prices.
People underestimate the scarcity of the Greninja. I get massive SWSH VMAX/VSTAR alt art rarity vibes from these TWM SIRs.
There is also a huge correlation between the cost of a pack and the market value of the top ~10-20 hits of a set (depending how you tally up numbers).
I have a case of TWM, and If I wasn't having to pay for a home, wife, and 2 kids, I'd be much deeper on this set (AND temporal forces!)

I've totally grown to like the Scarlet and Violet sets. I like Lost Origin, Crown Zenith and Brilliant Stars more, but not double or triple the quality of Paldea Evolved. I loaded up on Paldea Evolved ETBs at $25 each. That Pikachu promo is maybe the best ETB promo in 4 years.

Fair play. We all know they're going up in price as time goes on but it's only a real gains once you cash out.
I share you concerns holding items worth a lot individually. Keeping shiny cardboard worth tens of thousands under the bed isn't ideal.

agree to buy sv, disagree to dump ss. i think es hits 2k before twm hits $300.
youre asking if es is 6 times better than twm and finding no, but im seeing a clear yes. half of the valuable cards in twm are only there because of playability, which will fade with releases quick. youre left with the greninja, carmine, eevee, ursaluna, and the growlithe combo. the combo i see as a gimmick that pokemon tried and it worked out, so i expect this to drop when upcoming releases copy it. youre left with 4 hits, es has 12 strong hits and a few more mid hits. the strength of the hits is highly subjective and up for debate but the sets are pretty much incomparable on paper.
however, your point about spreading risk is valid and a smart move for most types of investing.
personally i have 2-8 bbs of everything from ss and sv, looking to buy more sv on reprints but no way im moving out of ss this early.
Yeah thats fair enough. As long as your happy to keep holding ss, then thats right for you. Im just making a play, right or wrong just being transparent 😊

Just curious on how you store your sealed products for several years?
Sure. big storage box one with a click close lid and no air holes, I chuck a load of silica gel packs in there (eats moisture). I wash my hands throughly before putting product in or out. I check on them about one every 3 months. I put layers of bubble wrap between products so they don’t touch, I recycle bubble wrap I get from purchases but cut out any parts that had tape on them. No tape or brown cardboard allowed in the boxes as they contain acids. No metal products or tins in the same boxes as boosters as that can attract rust. All stored in warm dark place. Cold areas attract mold. If your area is not warm, use a plug in dehumidifyer over the winter. 😊

@@GoldenEdgedGreg I don’t buy by the case, I spread cost over months. buy less but more frequently, Id rather spread risk and buy 2 of 3 sets than 1 case of 1.

im going to pick up a couple of cases of temp forces maybe like 3 or 4. some loose booster boxes to open, twilight mas ill pick up a case if i pick any up. paldea evolved ill get a case unless we see a reprint i might grab a few. paradox rift ill be getting a few casas. not going heavy until i see a set i really like 151 is still amazing so far. i feel like temp forces or paradox rift are the best sets so far.

speaking as a european i would sccop up as much fusion strike, brilliant stars and astral radiance as i possible could if i would have the chance to buy them at retail... since i dodnt have this possibility yes i am doing almost the same as you, recently bought into paldea when it was still at around 90-100€ and i also got some paradox and temporal crazy cheap at around 85€ a box^^
You cannot buy on PC UK if you live outside of UK. So even being European does not help you at all. On other plaforms the prices of BBs ahave been already adjusted to the market level…
I couldn’t agree more. I missed the boat on ES picking up only 4 boxes and even then I was paying £270 a box. Only grabbed 4 CR at retail before stock sold out, LO I did a bit better grabbing 9 boxes and buying every triple 3 pack blister for £13.50 and below once the boxes sold out. Whilst I have the chance I’m picking up as much FS as I can, I’m at 84 ish full boxes and 35 half booster boxes and 15 BS boxes at the moment. Both amazing sets but feel like FS is slightly better so focusing mostly on FS for now until stock sells out. TikTok UK shop still have FS half boxes for below retail. Pokémon centre says limit order 1 but you can do around 6 separate orders a day before it gives an error. On eBay boxes have been going for as much as £175 which makes no sense when Pokémon centre have them for £143
I dont want to say how many i had, i sold off 80%, i have a couple left.........🤣🤣🤣

Nah man, Ive made my bread. Im not greedy, the money rolls right into more product. To double it again I only need TM to go to £200, instead of ES to go to £1200. I think both will happen about the same time, but im spreading my risk. 😊
