    i've been watching your videos for the better part of a month now, I've been running for math most of my life. I just passed it online with a score of 155, and it was quite literally all thanks to you. I couldn't express immense amount of gratitude I have for you even if I tried! thank you so much

    Hi Kate! I wanted to thank you , for helping me achieve my dream ! Thank you for your way of teaching, thank you for the way you have everything set up ! Just thank you ! You have made a huge impact in my life! If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t have my ged today ! I just passed math with a 161 score ! I know it’s not “college ready “ but it’s my highest score out of the 4 ged tests ! I’m 31 and I stopped going to school when I was in 9th grade yet Thanks to the way you teach I was able to pass ! For anyone interested in passing math, Kate is the real deal ! Her website is set up better than other ged course websites !
    So thank you again and many blessings to you !

      Congratulations, Carlos! 161 is a great score, especially for someone who has traditionally struggled with math. So honored to have played a role in your success!

    Between 2007 & 2008 I passed everything except math in Texas, went back in 2014 didn’t study and went in and took my math failed it again by 15 points got so frustrated I just put it off... Well fast forward in 2021 I now live in Upstate New York and here all my Texas scores are accepted and all I have to retake is my math . So I need this course so I can for fill a long time accomplishment for myself 😌

    I've always thought of it as computational, not as a reasoning skill. I've had this stubborn resistance to using calculators because I always thought of math as a computational skill.

    Kate!! I just watched the one step algebra I still fill a little confused on when to inverse and when not to..

    • @LightandSaltLearning
      @LightandSaltLearning  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Gotcha. You use inverses when you are trying to SOLVE an equation or inequality by GETTING RID OF NUMBERS that you cannot use.
      For example, if I see x+2=14
      I couldn't add x and 2 even if I wanted to! X is a mystery! How am I supposed to know what x + 2 is!?!
      Instead I get rid of the two, move it over using opposites so I can SOLVE the mystery and see what x would have to be.
      I have a whole lesson on the Crash Course distinguishing between when to SOLVE (use inverses to isolate the variable) and when to SIMPLIFY (that's when you just do what the signs tell you to do). www.lightandsaltlearning.org/1-algebra/simplifying-or-solving

    Hey, I've just finished the first three lessons in the crucial basics on your math crash course website. It's so helpful!
    Do you think I might be ready to write the test in one month?? I really have to do it in a month, otherwise I'll not finish my GED in time 😬

    • @LightandSaltLearning
      @LightandSaltLearning  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      It depends on your beginning levels, how hard you work, and how effectively you practice. If you are planning on testing this month, definitely make sure you get through the Slope and Lines Unit which is probably the GED's favorite subject.

      @@LightandSaltLearning Thank you for your advice! I'm currently on Lesson 8 of the Algebra Unit 😁
      I've decided to watch all the videos and then do all the worksheets, I hope it works?? 😂
      I'll make sure to be done with that unit 😁 I'm gonna kick GED Math's butt! 👊
      Thank you for your videos and for being such a great teacher! I'm terrified of math and it's been hard to grasp, but you explain it in such an easy and non-scary way 🌾💖

    Kate how much are the no calculator questions worth? Like points wise? I hope it’s not much

    • @LightandSaltLearning
      @LightandSaltLearning  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It isn't much, no. Out of about 41 questions, 5 are non-calculator. You can still get a very high score (180's, I'm estimating) without them. My recommendation is that you make those problems your last priority when studying.

    Kate do you teach the Math Test for NY?

    • @LightandSaltLearning
      @LightandSaltLearning  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The test used in New York (the TASC) has a lot of similarities to the GED. For the most part, you don't need the advanced level practice though, since the TASC tends to be a bit broader than the GED, but not as deep. You also do not get the same formula sheet, so print and practice with yours, not ours. Your test also features a bit more basic math, so you may want to supplement my course with Math Antics or Khan Academy to practice basic math.

    It’s so different in jersey we get one of those small calculators not this one and they take it away from us

    • @LightandSaltLearning
      @LightandSaltLearning  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm guessing they don't use the GED in Jersey then. Are you taking the HiSET or the TASC test?
