If I recall this is the Srikanths peak. He won back to back 3 super series titles and was considered the brightest among the new generation. Too bad his incosistency costed him lot. On the otherhand old tao master LD still played really well. I think there is a 10 year gap between them. LD is around 35 this time and Srikanth arond 25. LD is always a legend.

In this match, we can clearly see that lindans play format has been preplanned and prepared by kidambi by watching his history. He still has perfect clean net shots. When kidambi breaks his corner to corner netshot. Again Lin does the same with perfection. I loved it. Then, kidambi gave Lin tougher to defence from backhand and cross smash. Lin lose the point on the kidambis cross smash but when lin did to him he can't defend himself bandhand shot. Kidambi really player well. I am a Indian but still I love Lin for 120 hertz smooth footstep.
There was a time when LD was totally invincible. All these new players have a lot to thank LD for he is the one who raised the bar so high that they strove for.
Each time LD plays nowadays especially this year 2018, I will open a while to see how well he performs (he has had consistency problem this year), and then decide whether I want to continue watching. I watched this match. To be fair, despite he lost to Srikanth, I actually feel this is probably LD best performance for this year. Srikanth didn’t win it easily at least. And Srikanth is still a lethal attacking player. At least, I feel LD still plays better and more interesting than CL and Shi Yuqi in terms of everything from net skills, court coverage etc except smashes. LD smashes slightly better. He did try hard in this match. I support him as long as he plays the way he plays today. Unlike, previous matches where he almost didn’t smash any. To be fair , his most recent lost to Ginting, was a close 3 sets, and LD lost only two points. I was thinking as well, he should have retired as it feels he doesn’t have the desire to play great anymore. This match changes my perspective. He may not be able to win big matches easily anymore, but he still could make upset anytime when he’s top form. From this match, we could see that he still wants to give many more final shots before he calls it a day. Still hoping he would smash more and harder. Nevertheless, I quite enjoyed his overall shots control in this match and a Srikanth smashes are delightful to watch.

Yes he is not as good as a few years ago and is getting less but still a very good player. I still have to see if anyone is going to break his record of winning in percentage or in gold medals in world- and Olympic games.

Watched the match against Momota just now. There were quite a few opportunities for Srikanth to attack when Momota was slightly out of position but he was a fraction of a second too slow and ended up playing a neutral shot

I saw ld last matches, they where all incredible with great skills. What have done ld to be world champions during so long time is stg that had never happens. Even now world champions can lost in early stage as we saw for viktor, kenta, chou tien chien, etc. Ld show us great badminton and keeping fighting is more greatful than anything else. LD is brilliant not only at the technical but the psychological part of the game as well. As soon aS srikanth was called a fault somewhere around 13:00, LD quickly upped his intensity and grabbed the next 6 points...

Does anybody realize, LD lost to the quite top form Srikanth in 3 hard fought sets? Srikanth was brilliant in his attacks today and so was LD defense and court control. And Srikanth is definitely a way better smasher than Momota, Ginting and Viktor. He’s just not consistent. So, LD fought hard and gave the top form Srikanth a hard time. Respect that at least. Getting more and more disappointed watching my hero getting beaten in the early rounds. It’s time to retire, speed around the court is slow and his attacking play is now nonexistent. Just playing passive will never win matches!
Well i mean like just because u lose doesnt mean that u should just stop playing i mean lin dan still loves to play badminton and compete even if he knws that in terms of stamina compared to the younger players is lacking right now. He's already soo successful but the fact that hes still playing even when he loses often nowadays shows that he just still wants to compete and play while he can
