I remember hearing this song on my grandfathers old windup “Victrola” as a little boy. Now , at the age of 83, I find it still evokes a beautiful view of our promised home. The cemetery where many of my family lie is on a hillside in West Virginia and when I hear the line “no graves on the hillsides of glory” my soul thrills! I’m so glad this old hymn was not “cleaned up and sanitized“ for the now generation as many of the old hymns now are.
Oh what Pure Joy in the Beloved! I cannot wait for my seeing Him face to face without sin! And to see many a beloved one there, were we shall Praise and Glorify Our King!

I don't think I've heard this song for 65 years until this morning and, at first, I couldn't place it. Then I heard the chorus and sang along for the remaining verses. It was very cool! I think it says something about the mind's ability to remember (well, sometimes! ha ha).
I miss the playing the song as it was...and the harmony that it had. It was one of my brother's favorite songs....still remember the page it was on....but the new version is nice
