I hadn't thought about diluting the TM. Also reminds me I have a folding marker and Grippy. Looks like a search is happening. The bottle to mix in is a good one
Quilters Select rotary cutter is also workable left handed without changing anything but the hand holding it. The release button works either way. Great for a quick trim on the left-facing side of a piece!
My mom was sweet enough to gift me the QS rotary cutter. I had no idea how much I'd love it. For some reason, the weight of it feels great in my hand, and I appreciate the ease of opening and closing it. Definitely my favorite!
Omg the pressing marker has been a game changer for me. So thankful I learned that from you! Maybe next year I’ll try the Terial magic. Happy new year!
Thank you! I was actually thinking about ordering some other things on purple hobbies and it was great that you have a coupon code! I do like watching you so keep up the good work for my viewing pleasure.
This was great to review all of the items you mentioned here. I really love that you give us websites to go to find these items. There are a few things on the list I have gotten this year due to your recommendation. There are few more I need to get next year. Thank you for all your wonderful videos! Wishing you a wonderful 2025!

Back when glue basting was just coming on to the scene, Aleene's glue bottle was pretty much the only thing available so that's what I got. I just kept refilling it with washable Elmer's glue. That Aleene's bottle has lasted a good 8 years (hope I didn't just jinx it!) I've looked at that Aleene's bottle and wondered if another bottle with the same type of needle applicator and wondered if it could be used to replace the pressing markers if filled with the solution of starch/water. Or, would the pressing solution be too water and run right out? It seems to me the needle applicator might last longer than a pressing marker but haven't tested it - it's always nice to find something that might possibly last longer. I have that same exact pressing mat and it works wonders just as you said!
Good morning Mary. Lots of great tips. Thank you. I just found you at Thanksgiving and participated in the Christmas sew along. I love the quilt behind you in this video. Do you have a class or pattern for it?
Hi Georgia! So happy to have you join us! That pattern is called Embracing Our Scraps and it's available in the joyfulandmerryquilting.com STORE. Just log in and click on Store. Happy New Year!
I have never seen the Purple Hobbies retractable pin cups before. I love my mister sprayer and I too dilute my starch with half water but haven't heard of Terial Magic. I need to try it.
I LOVE my retractable pin cups - I have all sizes! :-) Also, I have found that diluting the Terial Magic half water - half solution gives me a product similar to the other popular pressing solutions when using them full strength. Diluting the solution really reduces the price of the Terial Magic in comparison to those solutions, making it the most economical for me. Thanks for watching Marsha!
If you go to the pressing marker video there is a link in the description to the empty pens I use. Any that are similar will work: th-cam.com/video/VlEfbD_HQLI/w-d-xo.html
Actually it depends on the sewing machine - as I said in the video. Magnets can be an issue with some, but not with others. Check with your dealer. The magnet is safe on my machine and I prefer that to hanging my scissors on a hook each time I use it. Personal preference.
I don't necessarily think it's better when it comes to effectiveness. I like and use Terial Magic, Mary Ellen's Best Press, and Magic Premium Quilting and Crafting Spray, but I find that the Terial Magic is the most reasonable when it comes to price and that makes it my favorite. I can buy 1 gallon of Terial Magic for $52.99. I dilute it half and half with water which makes 1 gallon about $26.50. For 1 gallon of Mary Ellen's Best Press it's $42.02 and for 1 gallon of Magic Premium Quilting and Crafting Spray, it's $34.99. I tried diluting those but they just didn't work as well. Terial Magic, without being diluted, I think, makes the fabric too stiff for me - which is why I dilute it. I prefer these products over starch. There are those who prefer the Stay-Flo Liquid starch and it's still $30.00 for a gallon and it has been discontinued by the company. I hope that answers your question.
This’s my opinion: best press is kind of a soft finish. Terial will get fabric to paper stiffness if you use enough of it. It’s really handy for machine embroidery.
I don't use the Terial Magic full strength - I dilute it half water and half solution - which gives me a similar finish as Mary Ellen's Best Press or Magic Premium Quilting and Crafting Spray. I have heard that full strength it works well for embroidery, but I personally haven't tried it. Thank you for the information.

That Grippy spray is the Bees Knees! Great product - I’ve done at least 15 rulers ( not all mine!) and there’s plenty more!
I absolutely agree!!! And yes...it lasts FOREVER!!! Great product!
Love this spray.
Great tip! Thanks for sharing!
I'm a lefty who uses a rotary cutter in either hand. No flipping fabric around for me!
Thanks....I'm going shopping!

Thanks Fran! Happy New Year!
So many good suggestions!
Thanks Angela! Happy New Year!
I bought Grippy and was really impressed. Just make sure you spray outdoors if you can.
Isn't that a great product? I sprayed my Omnigrid rulers with it and the non-skid surface it creates really helps to keep them in place.

GREAT suggestion Mea!!! Thank you!
I love my Quilter’s Select rotary cutter and the rulers!
I love their rulers. I bought one and that was it, i was hooked. Replaced all of my rulers with QS.
I agree! Thanks for watching!

I use command hooks to hang my scissors on all my machines!
Thanks for sharing - it’s always helpful to hear about how others use these tools.
Good idea! I'm always concerned about magnets on computerized machines.
I have never seen the Purple Hobbies retractable pin cups before. I love my mister sprayer and I too dilute my starch with half water but haven't heard of Terial Magic. I need to try it.

I use Cord Holders on my machine to hold my scissors & seam ripper close by. Just glue on.
Thanks for sharing and for watching!
I could not find the fabric pressingmarkers on Amazon - please advise and, I am a subscriber now. What good tips you have
If you go to the pressing marker video there is a link in the description to the empty pens I use. Any that are similar will work: th-cam.com/video/VlEfbD_HQLI/w-d-xo.html
Where do you buy the turn about
Here's the link, Jeanette: classicreations.com/classi-turn-table/
Can you put a link for the pattern for your scrappy quilt? I’m still working on mine!
The pattern is available in our store - go to www.joyfulandmerryquilting.com and click on STORE. You'll find "Embracing our Scraps" there. Thank you!
I wish that I could have seen the circle ruler holder better.
Here’s the video link where I talk about the ruler stands - including the circle stand. th-cam.com/video/5_gYmWSeDWg/w-d-xo.html
A 3M Command hook is better for those plastic computerised sewing machines than a strong magnet up by the motherboard

Curious why Terial Magic is better than Mary Ellen’s Best Press. Can you explain?
