I also care cause me myself is a badminton player and I mostly see football volleyball and basketball animes but I also want to see some badminton animes so I can see the playing style, the speed, the adrenaline rush that u experience throughout the game itself and I also want to see some reality of how they would showcase badminton as a sport based anime it intrigues me to see how it will go on and the development of badminton animes cause YONEXtm Japan's top-selling badminton equipment and also tennis equipment wholesaler, They are a Franchise that Japan should be proud of not only Yonex but Badminton as a sport itself cause they have a lot of outstanding players in their force eg: Kento Momota, An aspiring badminton player for the Men's singles. Then Nozomi Okuhara and Akane Yamaguchi both amazing players in the women's singles. YA ALLL I WANT TO SAY IS "JAPAN PLS CREATE MORE BADMINTON ANIMES THAT R BETTER THAN Hanebado AND MUCH BETTER THAN HAIKIYU ALSO PLS PUT SOME MALE LEAD OR MALE MC SO I CAN SEE IT FROM A MALES PERSPECTIVE
I agree, I'm pretty surprised that badminton isn't depicted in anime as much because their national team does so good and it's a pretty popular sport in Japan. But it might also be that the audience isn't as big outside of actually playing the sport. But they could do so much with it imo, make it like a prince of tennis vibe or write about like the struggles of being an independent player. And momotas story is key anime plotline, top 10 player gets banned and then makes it to #1
Let me recap in two lines what he couldn't get across in 9 minutes : This anime isn't about how great Badminton is like most other sports anime, it's about a sportswoman experiencing sport in a wrong way and a denonciation of elitism. And since he mostly wanted the Haikyu equivalent of Badminton, he was disspointed.
And this is actually why I like Hanebado more than the other sport anime because that makes the story more interesting than just the typical "we make friends and improve together through sport", at least we get a different kind of perspective in this one.

Anime and Manga are very different. in the Manga, there is more comedy and even some general explanation of badminton, but it has a rather slow plot in my opinion. in Anime the story is accelerated and has an original story that is different from the Manga
I think thats usually the case for manga or book adaptations into film tho, rarely are readers satisfied with the screen adaptation because the story isn't as clear and key parts might be missing. I'm sure the manga was probably better but I was just disappointed that the animation style didn't really replicate the excitement of playing the real sport. Ofc, the plot was to highlight the story rather than the sport in the first place so I guess I expected too much haha
I don't play badminton and I know that Hanebado is bad at story, character development, accuracy... sh*t it's bad in almost every aspect lol but I like its action scene in manga and Rui is freaking awesome character. I f*cking love her so much. I might rewatch this again just because Rui lol

I really liked prince of stride. Only got one season and doesn't get much press (though it is by now 'old') but I do recommend it if you like sports anime.
it was left on a cliffhanger since they were short on episodes :/ too bad they weren't able to show its full potential. i don't really think the anime is great either though but i enjoyed it
