What is criminally underrated is one outs. Slam dunk and Major are cool, really like Giant killing.. Captain tsubasa is a oldie goldie. Hinomaruzumou , Birdie Wing , Basquash! , Over Drive , Capeta , Hungry Heart: Wild Striker , Shoot! Goal to the Future , Buzzer Beater , Aoki Densetsu Shoot! , Whistle! , Ace wo Nerae! , Attack No.1 , Are ones that are good to watch aswell, if i say so myself.
:-*Ace of Diamond* is underrated & infamous because of the sport it is based upon *Baseball* which has less Global fanbase compared to other sports & is mostly played only in US & Japan. :-It's one of the best & realistic sports anime I've ever seen; the pacing and character development are sensational. MC & his team isn't always favorite, they struggle, they loose very badly, they fall, but they never give up & rise again! :-Diamond no Ace also has some of the greatest character development in terms of scale I've ever seen in an anime. They develop so many characters so well that Eijun doesn't even feel like the Main Character, nor does he become some unstoppable pitching machine. Great dialogues, really good soundtrack & BGM. Overall it's really great anime _:-I hardly had any knowledge about baseball & never really liked it. But watching Ace of Diamond changed my views! It's really great sport out there_ 🙌

DIAMOND NO ACE IS AMAZINGGGG. MAJOR AS WELL. one more that i think should be here with a 10/10 manga that is completed is DAYS. anime was solid. 2 protagonists, 1 is a prodigy and the other is a beginner. you will not regret watching/reading it. imo i enjoy it more than ao ashi

So I've seen all of these anime and while I agree with most of this list belonging on the top 10 there are some that surprised me. I'll list a few that definitely should of been considered. Alternative Sports - Air Gear and Chihayafuru Air Gear is similar to the skateboarding anime mentioned but better imo. Chihayafuru is a competetive game involving cards. Tennis - Baby Steps and Prince of Tennis Baseball - Major Cycling - Yowamushi Pedal

I can also recommend the anime "Burning Kabaddi". As the name says it is about the asian sport "kabaddi" and shows to the protagonist and the viewers how interesting and exciting this kinda sport is. I learned about this sport through the anime and got hooked with the animation and characters, aswell with the rules of the sport itself. Sadly it only has 12 episodes til now, but i hope there will be more in the future because the correlated manga to the anime is being continued. Overall for me a great, rather unknown anime recommendation ^^
My first ever sports anime I experienced was The Prince of Tennis ( Slam Dunk my second ) nearly 15 years ago and I’ve enjoyed every sports anime/manga since BUT the one that stood out from all the rest was hands down Haikyuu. It was a ‘breath of fresh air’ when I started watching it back in 2014 compared to all the others I had watched up until then. Though I was in my later years of High School back in those times and an athlete, Haikyuu was the one sports anime out of them all that actually motivated me to do better as an athlete and in life. To push myself in the sports I played & enjoyed ( on a competitive level ) before I retired at an early age due to serious injuries. Haikyuu just has this charm about it that no matter what sport you’re playing, you can relate to the writing and characters motivations from this anime. You don’t have to be playing Volleyball or know anything about it, to get it ( I didn’t play Volleyball, I played other sports ), you don’t even have to like sports in general to get it. You just have to have something in your life that you’re passionate about, a goal or even a dream. Haikyuu does so well at bringing up these aspects in life and putting it into the story to make it feel so real. That’s what gave Haikyuu an edge over the other hundreds of sports anime/manga series I watched/read for me. The depth it was willing to go into for just a ‘volleyball anime’ as some people say. It’s so much more once you get older and understand what the life lessons, messages and quotes in Haikyuu are all about

Uhm.. my top 10: Diamond no Ace (the best), Run with the Wind, One Outs, Haikyuu, Ahiru no Sora, Major, Kuroko no Basket, SK8 the Infinity, Eyeshield 21 and a jolly (depending on the period a random one between Blue Lock, Slam Dunk, Hajime no Ippo, Free, Baby Steps, OverDrive, Days, Ping Pong the Animation). From those on your list, I didn't like Ao Ashi.

Yuri on ice I can’t believe it isn’t on. Here you put skate the infinity on here Yuri on ice is one of the only enemies to talk about the mental health of athletes when their personal lives and the stress crossed over into competition.
Haikyuu is a master piece and deserve 1st spot! but Blue Lock 2nd.. don't get me wrong is not bad but.. I believe that blue lock will be one of the top sport anime, but after just one season? I don't think it's better than Kuroko's basketball and Ace of diamond. Fotball fans went crazy during the world cup and gave it a better rating than it deserves for me personally (at least now)

I'm not an anime, in fact I have only ever watched 3 in my entire life, one is attack on titans, demon slayer and if course blue lock. Blue lock is different from the typical anime, the story and plot is unique. Its number one for me but it's because I have not seen the rest of the top 9 LOL

Run with the Wind, Diamond no Ace, Kuroko no Basuke, Tsurune (basically my top 4), (I don't like how much hype has haikyuu...) but it reminds me that i've to watch hajime no ippo finally (if i could come back into sports anime, the last years have gotten a bit to me so i couldn't enjoy most of it anymore (bc my nostalgic watches like PoT&KnB)- i think i forgot something but i don't remember it now Haikyuu was in my top 5 before but now its something on the last places from all i've watched... Ace of diamonds manga ending was a ride, still gutted it isn't going further. But it is such a slept on series
Ahiru no Sora is a nice Anime and is so underrated

personally for me i liked diamond no ace more than haikyuu. i think diamond no ace gets looked down upon simply because its baseball and not a lot of people like the sport.

Uhm.. my top 10: Diamond no Ace (the best), Run with the Wind, One Outs, Haikyuu, Ahiru no Sora, Major, Kuroko no Basket, SK8 the Infinity, Eyeshield 21 and a jolly (depending on the period a random one between Blue Lock, Slam Dunk, Hajime no Ippo, Free, Baby Steps, OverDrive, Days, Ping Pong the Animation).
From those on your list, I didn't like Ao Ashi.

Yuri on ice I can’t believe it isn’t on. Here you put skate the infinity on here Yuri on ice is one of the only enemies to talk about the mental health of athletes when their personal lives and the stress crossed over into competition.
Haikyuu is a master piece and deserve 1st spot! but Blue Lock 2nd.. don't get me wrong is not bad but.. I believe that blue lock will be one of the top sport anime, but after just one season? I don't think it's better than Kuroko's basketball and Ace of diamond. Fotball fans went crazy during the world cup and gave it a better rating than it deserves for me personally (at least now)

I'm not an anime, in fact I have only ever watched 3 in my entire life, one is attack on titans, demon slayer and if course blue lock. Blue lock is different from the typical anime, the story and plot is unique. Its number one for me but it's because I have not seen the rest of the top 9 LOL

well... Run with the Wind, Diamond no Ace, Kuroko no Basuke, Tsurune (basically my top 4), (I don't like how much hype has haikyuu...) but it reminds me that i've to watch hajime no ippo finally (if i could come back into sports anime, the last years have gotten a bit to me so i couldn't enjoy most of it anymore (bc my nostalgic watches like PoT&KnB)- i think i forgot something but i don't remember it now
Haikyuu was in my top 5 before but now its something on the last places from all i've watched... (manga has ruined it for me)
