Hello Doctor, neurologists say that Peripheral Neuropathy is caused when the myelin sheath gets worn out. However, you are saying that neuropathy happens when a nerve gets swollen and gets entrapped in a tight space. Which one of this is true? And if PN is due to a damaged myelin sheath, then a decompression surgery might not help because even if the surgery is done at a particular place in the body, there is still a chance that the myelin sheaths are getting damaged in different parts of the nerves. Can you please help me understand this better?
