The holiday resort town of Bude is situated in the top right corner of Cornwall, right next to the Devon border.
It was sometimes formerly known as Bude Haven. It lies southwest of Stratton, south of Flexbury and Poughill, and north of Widemouth Bay
Like all of Cornwall's resort towns, Bude is all about the beaches. There are miles of fantastic beaches here stretching from Widemouth Bay in the south to Duckpool and the Devon border in the north.
Bude has twice been voted for the Best UK Coastal Resort in the British Travel Awards, making it can excellent choice for a holiday destination. As it sits on the Devon border, Bude is the first place you reach when arriving in this beautiful county.
Bude's dramatic coastline is home to Demerara-soft sand, glittering seascapes and lovely low-key beach huts. You'll find beaches with Blue Flag and Seaside Awards, and all of the life guarded beaches have been rated as Excellent under new EU Regulations for bathing water quality.
This small, friendly seaside town in North Cornwall offers glorious beaches, stylish seafront restaurants and walks along a wild coastline
The Victorians called it the ‘Brighton of the West’, and it’s fair to say that Bude was Cornwall’s first proper tourist destination: a fashionable watering hole with magnificent beaches, soaring cliffs and views that make the heart sing. Alfred Lord Tennyson was one of many captivated visitors.
Bude is big on adventure tourist activities - surfing, canoeing, coasteering and other outdoor activities that make the most of this wild Atlantic coastline (and the highest cliffs in Cornwall). Its town beaches, Summerleaze and Crooklets, extend south to Widemouth Bay and north to the National Trust’s Sandymouth.

Bude was the first place in Cornwall we ever took our kids to. We went quite a few times absolutely loved it

Thanks for taking us on this trip. It would have been nice to hear the ambience of the place rather than the music though but great footage. 👍
Have tried with natural ambience and every time I do people click off after a minute or two but with music they watch all of it so it’s tricky

just got back from bude absolutely love it we try to go there every year my daughter has gone every year since she was born and still loves it completely different world compared to being near London like I am if I had the chance to move i would not hesitate time to book for next year

Thanks Gimbal,so good to have you back again,lovely video,some relations of mine used to go to Bude every year without fail,can see now why they liked it so much.We are going to Falmouth for a few days this year but not until Sept,have a look at Looe if poss,beautiful place with lovely harbour and quaint shops etc,stunning views of course,and good fish n chips too.

Grew up in bude my grandfather bill jennings had a bus and coaches business there now live in Melbourne Australia and heading back in October 2022 visit where my grandparents are buried in Stratton church I’m now 71 yrs old what memories

Enjoy your walks very much, the effort you put into adding interesting information just takes your walking videos to a level above most others on TH-cam.
Since you asked for recommendations in Cornwall for walking tours, I would suggest in no particular order: Truro, Falmouth, Penryn, Helston, Penzance & Newlyn, St. Ives (although it has been done to death), Redruth and Camborne. I know Penzance well and most walks seem to miss out quite a lot of interesting bits. I would be happy to share some local knowledge if needed.

The best places were missed on this walk, should have carried on a bit further on the downs for a spectacular view of the sea and beaches, also crossing the river to the canal side for a real taste of Bude.

Back in the mid 1960s I live 12 miles from Bude and when to Stratton s/m school when in the winter the boys would go on cross country runs down to Bude and the beach .and the pool was full with sea water and we were made to run through it our legs would go blue .and when we ran back to school with the games master behind us with a plimsoll in hand just to keep us moving can’t see that happening to day

Not yet Les - still to explore that part of the country fully but it’s on my list to do!

We were there on a school summer trip all the way from Cairo, Egypt, when we were young kids, and stayed in one of those hotels @11:20. Amazing memories, and a big impact on all of us. Love Bude!
I know it,s not Cornwall but I love Lulworth Cove as that is where my mum and dads ashes are 1/2 way up the hill

Doesn't do Bude justice. Poor views here - mainly houses and paths. Why not look back from the downs above the beach towards the town and fields around? See The Castle, the canal and the pretty houses alongside, the wharf, fishing boats, breakwater etc etc. Nanny Moore's Bridge was just walked past and ignored!! Shame.
