@@Corinna_Schuett_GER You know that believers have been saying "The end is near." since Jesus was two days ascended. You're tempting God when you assume this. Focus on witness, and forget about the Rapture. When it comes, it comes. Life has always been hard, in fact it's easier NOW than it ever has been. So, focus on witness and forget about your Tribulation. Do not hasten the Will of God. Hasten your witness.

@@HJKelley47 Interesting. Jesus is the meat. There must be some bad churches out there. I went to church and learned all about Jesus and the Old Testament.
When you are looking in to Enoch and other things, the fault is your own, not a church. Had you listened to Jesus you would not hunger or thirst anymore. Not for Enoch, not for depth, not for anything. You would be filled. If your churches are not teaching bout Jesus then it is not even a church. If you hunger and thirst, you have rejected Jesus and are here looking for junk food from Enoch in the rubbish heap.

@@br.m No, Kelley has not rejected Jesus. You do realize that if Jude, Jesus' half-brother, quotes Enoch, then that book was in Jesus' household growing up. Also, Peter quoted from it. It helps show what the believers in the 1st Century knew that we don't. And Paul wrote to some believers that they were stuck always drinking "milk" when they should have moved on to eating "meat." Michael Heiser is so so right about people in the church having more hunger. Wanting to dig deeper. This is my experience. I grew up in the church, got saved at 16 and I always knew there is more. God has been so gracious and has been revealing to me during my daily encounters with Him, but I had such a hard time finding resources to help me understand certain topics. To help me answer certain questions. I love God’s wisdom and knowledge, and it got to the point that I could not find a church where I was being fed at all. Not to sound arrogant but the sermons would put me to sleep so I would just do my own reading and study during sermons.
God has been revealing people and books and videos to me that answer my questions but it is a sad state that we have very few people working in this area. It’s even more sad that there are Christian’s who have become so lukewarm that they have lost their zeal to attain more knowledge about their Bibles and as a result, young people are more drawn towards occult/new age type spirituality.
But then there are also people like me and some of my friends who want to be challenged, who want to go deeper into Gods word. I believe that God has put this hunger within us for a reason. I have always noticed that when im persistently seeking for answers, God ALWAYS come through. Whether through more seasoned and knowledgeable believers, books, videos and even revelation of His knowledge in worship and prayer. All of a sudden the thing that didn’t make sense to me for years, makes perfect sense.
I urge fellow believers to dig deeper and not be afraid. I get called crazy all the time lol, but it is amazing and freeing to come out of mediocrity and let the Holy Spirit teach us. You will surprised at the pace of your sanctification too. It’s all the works of the Holy Spirit.

You need to be careful and go w a doctrinal scholar. Rev Gene kim san Jose ca is good. The search on your own is very tenuous. A strong pastor teacher, avoid the new trends: emergent; sensitive seeking, mega churches, hebrew roots movenebt: apocryphal books have been vetted by scholars surpassing you, which is why they weren t added to the Bible. 40 years and over 200 I believe studied and completed an excellent kjv. Shortly after getting saved, with my background in the occult,, I moved home to Pa. and read the New Testament in 3 weeks. One commenter in such a video seems to think we become righteous by our merits which contradicts why we need salvation through Christ . He than is into a falsr or twisted notion against clear scripture . This made me think a second it's Mormon doctrine thus us a cult thing unbiblical . If you don't believe Christ Himself alone saves us by faith please reveal this so people can down vote the videos as I intend if so. Yes, you are saved by the grace of Christ. But remember the rest of His teachings which happen to focus on Living which means doing the things he taught. He has the choice whether or not he accepts what you are in your heart. If you change not from your fallen state that’s false belief in Him. It’s new age fake Christians selling the grace only saves and continue living like the world. Find out what having true faith entails. Faith without works is dead. Being saved means you are saved from eternal death and control of Satan. Where you go in heaven depends on what you really are which Christ will be the judge of.

Dr Heiser, thank you for the paradigm shift. My new understanding and perspective, provided by your insight, has unlocked many previously mysterious passages of scripture. I want to know God's word as he means it, not in a way that feels comfortable to me. Theology is our basis, whether we believe it or not, so how can we live pleasing God without a continuing search for truth? We cannot. Thank you!

I absolutely love what Dr. Heiser said-that he wanted Christians "to read Scripture in its own original context...not in a modern context or a denominational context..." That is one of the main reasons why I have studied the Bible so much all these years! And that is also one of the reasons why the Lord had me go for my Bachelor's (Latin and Romance Language Major) and Masters these past five years, and am now continuing on with my PhD at Liberty in Bible Exposition in the fall. Mike was so spot on; as I went through my Master's classes at Liberty this past year and a half, that is exactly how we were to think as we were reading the Bible. I took the Biblical Languages with Exegesis Cognate so I could learn the ancient languages, and read the Bible the way it was meant to be read. We actually touched on Deut. 32:8 and Psalm 82 at one point or another, and I was amazed at what I was reading! I couldn't get enough of it-I wanted to learn more about what really went on in that divine council. I am now teaching myself Aramaic (I'm a lover of languages!) before my Phd classes begin. Enoch was fascinating to read, and I know it was the Lord's timing a little over a year ago, when He led me to want to learn more about Genesis 6, the Watchers, and all that entailed. Also, the Mythology class I took a couple of years ago was to bring me to another realization that not all of it was "myth"; there was a lot of truth behind those stories. Finding out about Dr. Heiser on one or two of Trey Smith's videos assured me I was not nuts--God was pointing me in a certain direction to go. Derek Gilbert's books, and most recently, Rabbi Jonathan Cahn's book, "Return of the Gods", has given me more proof that the Lord was leading me to discover more truths than ever before about Enoch, and has made me appreciate the whole of Scripture even more, and all the history in it as well.

A first for me to see Dr. Heiser's interview. I find his perspective somewhat encompassing the macro & micro view which is an inclusive view. It is somewhat inviting to an audience it engages the rational part of us whether we see life from a subjective view or more of an objective view. Sometimes we see bits and pieces of what makes sense and don't really bother to tie ideas together. I had a somewhat negative view of the doctor before I heard the interview. In fact I was tempted not to watch it. But because I enjoyed Enoch so much I just had to hear what the Dr. had to say. Thanks for posting the interview. Dr. Heisner comes across in a positive down to earth person. I was glad I listened. Thank you for the closed captions because I cannot hear. :)

The thing that have happened in my life has given me the Faith that every word is truth. The Old Testament is where I gain all my knowledge an wisdom that The Holy Spirt reveals to me. I also believe that the The Book of Enoch is also the inspired word of God. Like you said you need put your self in there world in order to understand. There is so much we don’t understand as humans in the 21st centuries.I Believe that In the times of the Bible that the human mind connected to the spiritual side of life an God in all forms due to lack of distraction starting from the time of Adam an Eve. Your people in my world think I’m out there. Lol . I know God doesn’t because the things he’s done in my life could have only been done by God. There’s people that can testify to that.

I no longer call myself a Christian, I stopped that many years ago. I do believe in God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. I dont believe the teachings given today on who they are or the "interpretation" of scripture.m I recently heard this joke that is fitting, along my beliefs. Here is the joke. A monk was assigned the task to transcribe ancient scripture. He flipped out, many other monks saw him and called for the head monk. The head monk asked him what the problem was.
