    Okay Brewzle. Just tapped my 1st bottle of Blantons. My local ABC in Bama got their 2 case allocation and I scored one. $63 out the door. One thing to keep in mind is - SB's can vary from bottle to bottle. Not all the same. This Blantons is Very Good, however the "first" bottle of Eagle Rare I bought was unlike any bourbon I'd ever had. Some other goodies, Rare Breed, 4 roses sb, Makers 46.

      @FEWGEE1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I agree with the Eagle rare. It really opened my eyes up to bourbon. I was primarily a heavily peated Islay Scotch guy up until that point. Rare Breed was the second bourbon that really impressed me.

    I bought my first bottle of Blantons last week. Paid $90 at a local liquor store. It’s good, but I have other bourbons that I’ve paid far less for that have a better taste and are easier to sip. That’s just my option. Cheers sir! 🥃

      I get Blantons for 60-65$ most weeks, I see it all the time. It's easy to get around here (TN) but 90$ isn't terrible - and to your point, yes paid less for other options that were incredible (some of the Dickels, Eagle Rare, etc). I think Blanton's is a 7.5/10 sometimes a 8.5 to 9. It depends on the batch, I've had 7 bottles that were different. One was incredible, it was like the middle bottle, nice notes, smooth, nice nose etc. Then the last one I had it was not as sweet, more oak, a little bitter. It's a crap shoot sometimes.

      I’m with you… But since I got gifted my first bottle on my 53rd birthday (from my friend who just died of pancreatic cancer), I bought a second bottle at an 80th family reunion, I am now trapped to have to buy the other six letters, buy a custom lighted display stand on Etsy, and call it a day and have something to remember my friend by… one of my favorite daily bourbons now is Redneck Riviera, which goes for about $31 where I am. Very economical. I have learned early on that Scotch, indeed, tends to grow in quality with Price, but bourbon is strictly about taste and preference. I will gladly pay $135 for a bottle of scotch, but I will be hard-pressed to pay more than $50 for a bottle of bourbon.

    7.5 - 9 rating /10 for me mostly as it depends on the batch. I've had some that were extremely solid, smooth and just a great sipper. I had one that was sort of bitter and sweet at same time, but lacked depth and the nose was so so. Everything in the middle too, it really depends. I had around 7 bottles ranging from 2017 to 2022 and the 2019/2020 that I opened recently were the best. However, even those vary as the rack position, temp, all these sill things. 60-65$ is what I get it at and at that price, I'd go for it. People paying 130$ or more for it, I'd say wait and find alternatives.

      One of the reasons I wish single barrel stopped being perceived as automatically better. There's nothing more premium about whiskey from a single barrel, they just have a ton more variation than a blended whiskey, good and bad.

    Its a completely middle of the road whiskey. Its not bad in any way but not special in any way, and you do have to prefer a more fruit forward whiskey (which i dont). The problem is theres so many cheaper and more available bottles that arguably beat blantons. Personally i think wt 101 is a better whiskey.

    • @Brewzle
      @Brewzle  ปีที่แล้ว

      I like the fruit forward stuff but agree it's a middle of the road whiskey. That's why I think so many folks like it though, easy for most people to enjoy and like especially if they are just getting into bourbon. WT101 will get on this list soon so we'll see what it scores.

      @@earthsucks9555 i mean i personally dont like buffalo trace but it all depends on what your dad likes. Buffalo trace can be hard to get, and imo doesnt compete in its price range but thats definitely a contested topic. It also is only half the price point you gave. Four roses single barrel, old forester 1910, and bowman single barrel will all get you to a similar place as blantons and all of them are more available and lower cost. If you wanted to go higher alcohol or something i personally would buy, it would be rare breed. Or you could always try something funky and local, theres great up and coming producers who deserve your time as well.

    • @LeatherDaddy97
      @LeatherDaddy97 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@earthsucks9555 i realized i didnt actually answer everything. Cheaper that i prefer? 1792 (basically the whole line), wild turkey 101 and rare breed, elijah craig, coopers craft 100, early times bib, larceny barrel proof, old forester 86 or 100 proof, redwood empire lost monarch, driftless glen single barrel, jack daniels bonded, triple mash and barrel proof, wilderness trail bonded. All of those should be easier to get, less expensive and i personally prefer them over blantons. On the topic of weller, i dont typically enjoy wellers much, that said i do prefer weller 107 over blantons, but i did not like the 12 or special reserve at all on their own. I got a heavy dog pee note off the 12. Special reserve is good in coke though. All of this said, this all comes down to personal taste and if youre a big buffalo trace fan youll probably disagree with everything ive said lol.

      Another thing to consider is that the higher the barrel is in the warehouse, the more exposed it is to the summer heat and winter cold which really makes that wood expand and contract - really causing those complex flavors from the wood to seep into the liquid. You’ll get this on the lower level ricks, but not to that extreme since it’s probably cooler and more damp on the lower levels than closer to the roof.

    Same goes for strahanahs if you hate whiskey you didn’t like it either

    • @0529mpb

      Apples to oranges. JD SBBP is about the best value out there. However, not everyone can enjoy 130 proof whiskey.

    • @rauljuarez296
      @rauljuarez296 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@0529mpb a bit confused by your statement. Are you saying JD SBBP isn't 130? Or are you saying Blanton's isn't 130 proof? Cause Blanton's I have not had a chance to try. JD SBBP I have and it's pretty damn good.

    • @0529mpb
      @0529mpb ปีที่แล้ว

      @rauljuarez296 Blanton's is 93 proof. If it was more available, it would be a great beginner bourbon. It is too thin.
      JD SBBP is an amazing bourbon for the money. At 130+ proof, it is only for people who are used to cask strength whiskey. That said, it has better flavor concentration, mouth feel and complexity than Blanton's. It is just too hot for your average Joe.

      Rare to see someone who uses the same spelling as I do for a first name other than Ozzy Osbourne's guitar player.
      That being said TJ seems like a pretty cool guy. Seems like a fun dude to hang out with even though we probably have very different interests, I'm not sure what kind of music he's into but he doesn't really strike me as the kind of guy who spends all of his time in dive bars watching punk rock and metal band but he seems like a hell of a nice guy that I'd be more than happy to buy a drink for.

    • @ZakkandtheJ

      The way you've described TJ sounds a lot how many of us would describe my late friend Brendan, yeah we always dreaded seeing him at the start of the night but he was always the life of the party and it wouldn't be the same if he didn't show up on some of those nights I really miss the guy a lot (sorry to bring the vibe down but one of my best friends who I loved a lot was often described in the exact same way so it reminded me of my fallen friend). In a lot of ways I often think I would do anything to have one more night out on the town drinking with my friend Brendan because he was a great guy and I miss him with all my heart.
      Cheers to you both. Sorry if I am being a wee bit of a downer just the description made me think of a friend and I miss him a lot.

    i don't hate Blanton's because its overhyped, i hate it because even for its MSRP i think its overpriced- let alone secondary market. Ive had $40 bottles from other companies that i thought had a better level of refinement than Blanton's, but for some reason im just supposed to LOVE Blanton's because its borderline impossible to find it for less than $100 anywhere near me? Nah, miss me with that noise.

    I hate doing this but these kinds of Vids irritate me. I used to be able to go to almost every liquor store in my City and be able to pick up a bottle of Blantons for just over $40. I live in State controlled pricing State and now for over a Yr I cant locate 1 bottle and some bars dont even have it if they do the drink price is through the roof.
    I dont understand Why the Distillery is making limited runs and allowing the second hand market to over inflate the prices for an average whiskey. I have seen Blantons for $300 and people still buy it. Doesnt make sense.
    Doing a review for a product the average consumer cant get that used to be available to me is pointless no matter how good it is. It only tells some people with the expendable funds to purchase to impress.
    Blantons, EH Taylor and Eagle Rare is impossible to get in my State. Buffalo Trace is also becoming hard to get with stores getting limited runs.
    Rather see the vids that gives us options for replacing these whiskies with availble stock which you do and I appreciate those vids immensly.
