You guys nailed it !! Blanton's is very good whiskey, however definitely not worth the chase. As for the filtered blanton's description.... A cheap Canadian whiskey.... again nailed it !!

Several years ago, a coworker of mine told me about Britta filtering cheap vodka to mellow it out. I've never done it myself, but that makes more sense than running a premium whiskey through it. If you want to see the effectiveness of filtering, get some mid or bottom shelf whiskey and do it.
Interesting , ive never heard of using a filter like that. Seems like naturally it might take away taste and maybe some proof .. idk but Interesting none the less. My biggest advice for people searching for Blantons is dont over pay !!!!! I live in Louisville so its around at retail a few times a month which usually runs from $64 to 74. Last one i bought at total wine was $74 i think.
Dont pay more than $80 unless you absolutely gotta try it , buy something else if its more because theyre just as good bourbon for less.

Possible, but rye is more known for its pungent and more aggressive taste in your whiskey less than breadiness. Wheat whiskeys would be more likely to inherently taste like that, imo

Homemade filters are just actived charcoal. Some people make themselves but they sell it. One could buy the ingredients to make it and filter it in a vacuum so it doesn't get hit with air.

I've worked at in liquor for 12 years in Australia and Blantons has never been a thing that is super sought after or something we ever really run out of.
My experience with Blanton's was about 10 years ago and it was going for $50. I wasn't about the hype, I just wanted to try it. It was good and I've moved on. As for Britta filtering liquor, I would stick to vodka. I've put cheap vodka through the pitcher about 3 to 5 times and it comes out better.
I mean we are paying for the time the sauce sits in the barrel. Why would you strip that away? Blasphemy.
Its a 4 yr bourbon although rumored to be 6. Its a perfectly ok whiskey. Its biggest strength is being inoffensive but theres nothing special about it

I've heard Blantons is not quite as good as it used to be, I've been researching it lately.
I found two unopened Blantons from 2002 as well as early Weller antique 107 and a bunch of Woodford and others. All 20+ years old and forgotten about.
Its a big house with alot of liquor storage.
Well I wouldn't use a brita filter, primarily because of the plastic.
Id say its less that its not as good, and more that theres a ton of products that have come out since that are more worth it.
As teenagers we’d buy the cheapest vodka we could get and run it through a brita, sometimes more than once. We swore it made it “more smooth”. But we also had never had anything better than Smirnoff or Grey Goose.
Then proceed to mix it with all kinds of crazy stuff. So who really knows if it made it any better or not.
It was fun though, and that’s really all that matters.

I just got a case of Blanton's in yesterday, bought two for myself and put the rest up.
Blanton's is just so inconsistent nowadays. I can always get 3 or 4 bottles at MSRP each year. Most bottles are just average. Some are great. Some aren't as good as standard Buffalo Trace. 10 years ago they were mostly good to great.
Drank Hennessy as a kid. Now a White Russian here and there is enough for me.

Just about anything from barton 1792, four roses single barrel, the bowman product line are all good subs, and if you have a total wine nearby, wolcott bottled in bond.@@liquid_x

I'd rather have Buffalo Trace than the Blatons. Buffalo trace is extremely consistent. It really depends on the Blatons year
Blantons is a single barrel. Buffalo trace is not. Of course blantons isnt going to be as consistent. They're all single barrel

Weller is my favorite whiskey ever. Very sweet and smooth. Anything similar that's not so crazy hard to find?
Weller isnt even all that good. Especially the green label and the 12yr. The 107 is pretty good and full proof store picks are usually really good. Depening on what YOU would think is comparable is hard to say. Everyone has different palates. Everyone likes different proofs. Weller is a wheated bourbon. Makers mark is a wheated bourbon, and they have different qualities i guess you could say. So depends on your budget. Makers 46 and makers 46 cask strength are really good and reasonably priced. Rebel is a wheated thats really good. Especially if you like cask strength, the single barrels are awesome, and reasonably priced. I too liked wheated better when i first started. But after collecting 150+ bottles in my first year, i dont like wheated as much as i thought. Theres definitely a lot of good ones out there, but i wouldnt stick to just wheated. Old forester is pretty good, all of them, and they have all different price ranges. A lot of ppl like elijah craig, knob creek, wheel horse is another wheated thats priced well. Theres just so much out there. But again, it depends on your palate, budget, and how much experience you have/what proof range you like. The more you get into it, the higher proof stuff gets better, but not always the best for beginners because they can be too high proof. A lot of bottled and bonds are pretty good for beginners/ppl that like lower proof because all bottled and bond/bondeds are all 100 proof. Which is a good middle range.
Do a comparison between Malort and Barrel Aged Malort :)

Usually destroys it It was an idea to "smooth" whisky but it takes out all the aging of being in a barrel for 8-10 years which make the filtered product taste like crap.

Blatons is terrible compared to the consistency of Their Buffalo Trace. The Colonel e.h. Taylor on the other hand is absolutely impeccable

Absolutely useless test in so many ways. Blantons are all single barrel so they are going to be different. And doing a fresh crack/neck pour vs an open bottle, obviously different. Only way to test this in a legit way would be to test the same bottle wo going through the filter vs through the filter. These kids really dont know much about whiskey. Its not 10yr. Its 6-8yr. Usually 6yr. Also adding water to blantons? Something with such a low proof and already not very complex, smh. You guys have a lot to learn. But good on you for starting. Just do more research before you make vids so you dont make youselves look like complete amateurs if you want to grow your channel. Sorry to be harsh, but it is what it is.
