Yantzaza to Loja - a drive through rural Ecuador

- Here is the other 90% of Ecuador you don't see - the countryside. The rural mountains, valleys, waterfalls, rivers, towns, and vistas of Southern Ecuador. All the way to the city of Loja, a quick stop at Supermaxi, and a walk through the Gran Columbia Mercado before heading home. Join us for a long, but beautiful day in Ecuador.
We are a family transforming a mostly-untouched 30 acres of jungle mountain into a working, self-sustainable, off-grid farm. There are a lot of trials, errors, successes, and lessons to be learned along the way. We hope to share it all with you, to tell our story, to inspire, and to hopefully help answer the questions you didn’t know to ask.

What a beautiful drive. Love to see that green and vibrant vegetation everywhere. It's a blessing for the eyes and soul.
cool i like and your right ....
Small van is also called Half a Loaf!
Beautiful countryside, change of pace, change of scenery 🎉
Great video again. I love the natural content and the realness, thanks!
What a great tour of the middle parts!
Thank you for sharing i enjoyed seeing all the scenery and the different towns and people and the market!!
Glad you enjoyed!
Thank you guys again! It’s so beautiful. I can’t wait! You guys are right. So many videos of the big cities and the fancy stuff that I have absolutely zero interest in.. I was not convinced on Ecuador, but Guatemala until I saw your channel. Just in the last month I have pretty much changed my mind to Ecuador. It looks like they have what I’m looking for even though the cities are buried in tourists.
Rural Ecuador is indeed somewhere special! Glad we could shine a light on the beauty of this place!
I agree with your thinking, as in, nobody shows this, you have a great style, really appreciate what you did here
Loved the vid, thank you for sharing.
The super maxi in Loja is very nice. The drive from Cuenca to Loja features spectacular green countryside and mountains ❤
Ah yes, we drove that road once and it was a totally different and equally lovely drive! It's always interesting how different this country can be, even in the same 'region'.
@@tinyhandsbigdreams yeah, the microclimates and landscapes can change quite abruptly over a relatively small distance. After being in the high mountains for 15 days, Vilcabamba felt too hot for me at “only” a mile high elevation 🤣
❤❤❤❤❤❤
"Super😂 typical" can also be used when speaking of paperwork and the bureaucracy! My "45 day" Professional Visa took four and a half months. Think "Manana Time"!Thankfully, your trip wasn't for naught due to the interesting video you made. Bravo to you my friends! I'll share your site with others thinking of heading to Ecuador.
Oh, your comment made us both smile! Thank you so much. We have friends struggling with getting their temp visas, and it's all so stressful! We're just glad that all we're waiting for are cedulas. We all want you to come visit again!
I so enjoyed my time with you both, and Eli. Holding the baby goat was special as was drinking your yummy maracuya concoction. Crossing my fingers that your vines produce mucho for you. Being three hours north of Quito, I'm not sure when I'll get back down your way, but it's definitely on my list! Sending much love...
Love this video. Ecuador looks so beautiful 🥰!!
Thank you so much for another great video!
Thanks for sharing folks❤
Thank you for giving a unique view of the countryside. Just found you guys .hoping you'll have many videos.
We're planning to! Any suggestions or requests for videos?
Just keep it as accurate as you can. Don't need fluff. Thanks
This is an awesome video guys, love it 😍. Not many are showing this type of content. We're working hard on it to get there, hopefully sooner than we originally planned.
Beautiful drive :)!
I’d like to see more.
Awesome, what more would you like to see?
great video. this is what I like to see. Maybe some farm tour videos. I visited Ecuador 12 years ago, and really enjoyed it. If I were younger would consider living there. Thanks
Oh, farm tours. That's an interesting idea, thanks!
Thank you ❤
WOW ! I looked up Yantzaza on EC map. You area way out there !!!!!
I suppose so, at least from Loja or other large cities. But Yantzaza has pretty much anything we need!
How do you know when and how to pay your taxes? Thanks for the video I love that drive.
If you mean property taxes, they are just paid yearly. Personal taxes? We haven't had to pay/file yet because we haven't made an Ecuadorian income. We'll have to figure that out!
Looks nice! If I brought my road bike out there would that be a good idea? Some countries are hostile to bike riders (I include the US here!) but I live in Thailand which is very bike friendly.
No hostilities, though bikes aren't terribly common here. There are bike shops and they are ridden more in cities, but less so rurally.
@@tinyhandsbigdreams thanks!
@@HairyPixels you cannot import anything with the motor that is to sit on or drive not even a jet ski. It’s 100% no no unless you are a returning Ecuadorian.
@@tenbye466 talking about a bicycle. :)
@@HairyPixels ahh.. ok. I thought I read motorcycle.
