WOW! The best movie ever made, How cool that you guys got to be a part of this. I never in my life laughed so hard when I watched it years back for the first time. Great story about the real owners of the deer camp!
Wow, I can't wait! Even here in PA, Escanaba in da moonlight is a deer camp eve tradition for some, like us. This has the potential to be one of the best discovering episodes ever!
@@discovertheup A friend and I re-watched Escanaba in da Moonlight today. Hilarious...and i'm yelling "I saw this on Discovering"...and the two holer...oh did we howl!!
Great episode! How great. This movie is a family tradition and since we’ve moved to Colorado 4 years ago we all wish we could be home and this helps us feel closer to that spirit in the woods. Miss it so much. Will be back but not soon enough.
I live in the in the lower peninsula of Michigan over in the thumb area, it so happens I watched "Escanaba in da Moonlight" just last week. What an awesome movie. It was a treat to learn of the history of the Bittner family and the creativity of Mr. Daniels to go to such lengths to make his story more real and believable; even though we know it is fantasy and comedy. Those Bittner's are great and genuine Northern Michigan Yoopers, for sure, eh!
Great episode!! I remember when my friends mounted the Buck they used as Reuben’s buck. For the last 15 years it’s been a tradition to watch night before opener in WY. It’s a little piece of the UP I’ve taken with me out west to share with my hunting buddies.
I hope they don’t really drink moose ball milkshakes and porcupine piss my buddies and I watch the movie the night before season opener every year it’s our tradition we are in central NY
I worked with a lady that shot one large buck every year. She and her husband bought some land, dug a pond, and waited like five years Pretty soon "her" deer started getting huge and multiplying. One time she woke up and there was a monster buck so she grabbed her rifle and shot it from the bedroom in her nightclothes and woke her husband right up out of his sleep. She hadn't planned on hunting that year except a few doe but she couldnt pass it up She raised a bunch of Weiner dogs and is training them to sniff out antlers after they fall off.
Do you know the back story? It used to be a place where single men would go because the women that were looking for a hubby would wear red sweaters. My brother's father in law's father (could you follow that? ☺️) met his wife Bunny there and brought her down to SW lower Michigan and spent the rest of their lives here. Now you know the rest of the story! 😉
@@scottgarvy Oh my! Haha! I'm going to have to save that story in my back pocket! I'm glad your brother's father-in-law's father and Bunny found true love at the Swallow Inn! You just never know! And I'll have to see if it is still open!

Greatest movie ever!
Very nice story.
We watched it in our camp last night and the 11 year old who's first time at camp howled with laughter. What kid doesn't like fart jokes.
What adult doesn't like fart jokes? LOL
Happy to hear kids are having a great time at camp too!

Great video
I watched esc in da moonlight because of this video. Funny show. Never heard of it and I’m a 40 yr hunting veteran in the Midwest!
I don't believe it gained much traction outside of Michigan!

I once loaned a successful mich.deer hunter patch. To a dear friend / costumer for a play that Jeff Daniels acted in. " What fun" thanks Susanne.

Hahaha I don't think they do but I didn't ask!
Classic
Met a woman on Stonington Peninsula at the bottom they had a cabin there. She alway shot the bigger buck than the rest of them.
He sang the whole damn song!😅

Btw, we haven't been there in 25 years so you may want to make sure it's still there. 😕
