- Been pushing it over the past two weeks with a chance of lightning and with one of the hottest days of the year the heavens don't disappoint.
Storms rattle over from North Wales on to the Irish Sea where they light up the sky with a fantastic display. Reports of Super Cells on the day and large hail for the far north of Scotland too!

We were chasing last night too, we went to the North Coast and watched the towers and cells produce beautiful lightning from a great distance. We were out all night, recording and photographing these storms, then early morning around sunrise New cells came in land. A great night of chasing and another couple of days of more thunderstorm potential.

It kicked off around 12.50 am on Friday morning outside Lurgan & it was still flashing at 4.am . Best storm in years .Thunder wasn't that loud but the Lightning was great every few seconds . Normally we get very little or nothing .
I’m rewatching here. Absolutely the sort of content that TH-cam needs. Exciting, informative and great fun to watch. And a bit scary if you were filming it! I hope you get some great footage this year Gordon. Paul 👍👍👍🏻
Fantastic video, Gordon. Had to chuckle as I was about 2 minutes into it when my Lightning Tracker went off and gave me an alert to a storm near Nottingham heading this way. 👍

Just looked on nowcast at 09.00 , looks like good development already ,from south Wales heding northeast. Hope the steering effect of the Pennines don't send it off more to the east. One good thing, there's no breeze yet, so hopefully there'll be little to disturb any potential convection. Could do with a few hours of yesterdays sunshine to light the fuse ,but hey-ho. At the finish ,last week produced for me ,both whilst out on the Fylde and when I got home. 3 day's worth of good-quality action. Worth getting the lightning trigger out later ? Hmmmmm....I'll see. Im in south wales and it looked like a tornado touch down and there was massive lighting show a day or two later after the heatwave
Great video. We had some epic storms here in Chester/on the Wirral on August the 12th. We were watching storms from West Kirby going towards Ireland over the Irish Sea which were very lightning active
great storm in ilkley westyorkshire yesterday lage hail stones i filemd it on my phone and recorded the sound of the heavy rain and hail

I know you've got some great kit, and a lot better than mine (me having nothing that is😭), but, if you're out and about with just your smartphone, and if you don't already have it, try the 'lightning camera' app(don't know if i-store do it, but, playstore does).
Once you figure out how to use it, it's a great 'pocket' lightning cam.

Oh so you did get the storms they were like 4am in the Morning but I could see on radar near isle of man. The storms in the southeast are very weird, I got stuck under the anvil cloud and didn't really see much other than rain. I can now see the overshooting tops across Kent.

Hi Gordon. Excellent footage as always. Specially when you get the lightning that curves at 7:33. Great fork lightning action to. Specially on the great fylde coast. Just 1 thing. I think you could mention at the beginning This video contains flash photography, just incase any 1 with epilepsy or any thing else could be watching this. Keep up the great work. 👍

Nice video.. looks like there will be more storms happening today, in the UK too. In fact there's some activity near leeds right now! As for me, I'm waiting for some stuff to happen near Delft, NL, and I might go off for a little chase myself! According to the forecasts, we might be in for some nice storms :)

You were lucky, I had no thunderstorms in Manchester. (When I was awake anyway)
I did in sheffield they're was lighting heistones and rain and it was so heavy it bounced on the Windows and leaks were coming in

Loving this, the other week i saw some spectacular storms over north wales, i’ve only ever seen stuff like that in florida during storm season. Also, why did you have the radio on in the first bit and what is the lightning alarm?

Some shots are in slow mo and the AM band on a radio 📻 will crackle to every lightning 🌩 strike.
Most of the lightning strikes have occurred in the North Sea over last night so I'm hoping the storm will form a bit more over the north east of england. Good content keep it up!
For once best storm in N.Ireland over our way in years . It kicked off around 12.50am on Friday morning & it was still flashing around 4 .Very little thunder lightning was awesome every few seconds . Normally some parts of Ireland get it more than others if some on knowing reason . And when they do i get bloody jealous !!! Anyway 1st time seeing your video love it .
Had some wonderful lightning strikes in Essex early this morning today as the thunderstorms moved up from France. Needed some thunderstorms because it’s been so hot and humid. Wonderful scenes of the moon and the lightning is so breathtaking out at sea.
Were the storms actually good I could see the storms pushing into Colchester area on the radar, it was a very weird system as it had like a perfectly circular area of precipitation also with mommatus clouds forming over Ilford Essex. My only explanation is this is either a squall line head or a old anvil cloud from a dying storm.

You may want to keep an eye on the radar there is some development south of Liverpool you may see very close to Blackpool. We have a mist down in London now already incredibly hot and the ground is all wet it's producing steam.

@@charlie50015 yes there was a few unorganized storms however it seemed to have turned to rain. I got some cracking pictures though of a potential supercell storm developing over Suffolk as seen from London. It's also been rotating aswell. I also got a picture of what appears to be mommatus clouds sailing under the old anvil cloud of a severe supercell in France it travelled all the way to London this morning along with many hailstorms and single celled storms forming over Kent.
N.V.G Gaming Looks like a lot of thunderstorms over the pennines and yorkshire dales. Also potentially kicking off near hull.

Yay funnily enough the thunderstorms due are hit and miss and by the looks of things today in the Midlands for me we've got on off thundery showers forecasted however it Only says 50% chance at the moment.
So far, there was no storms for me but tonight the CAPE will reach as high as 1000J/Kg so it might be a very loud night
was this the storm cell not so far from the Isle of Mann saw the lightning on the lightning detector.

How are storms there in the UK? Do you get them often? I live in Uruguay and we get massive storms here, specially at spring and summer, although some can occur during autumn and winter. I've got some videos uploaded here on TH-cam of some storms during the last years.
