Thank you for all your great work. Downloaded tear up your bible reading plan, and began yesterday. It's just what I needed! I seem to be all over the place in the bible and my mind is overwhelmed where to begin! How many times I've started in Genesis and Matthew I can't say, so I'm so glad the plan doesn't begin there! Love your videos especially your facial expressions, you make me laugh! Keep up the good work Justin. God bless!
I got sick of my bibles looking messy so i started using notebooks instead.Much better for me and if i want to pass the bible down its not all messed up for the next family member.
Jason.. That last method(list method) i like and what literally just occured to me with that one is that instead of marking on the verse itself i could box the verse number itself in the color that i will also color dot the note
Jason you are hilarious!! Thanks for this video! I love writing in my Bibles. This looks like a cool method and very tidy. I usually just write my notes right next to where the verse(s) is/are because I mostly write in my wide margin single column Bibles and it’s been working for me. If the note isn’t obvious then I’ll do a little arrow from the verse to the note but I try to avoid marking over the text so it remains clean. Anyway, FUN PEOPLE TEAR UP BIBLES!! 😂❤️
I bought a ten dollar paperback Bible from Amazon. I put a pretty paper cover on it and IT is the Bible I write in. I have used wax highlighters because they don’t bleed through. While reading the books of the Prophets, I marked what God said. What I learned most was God said A LOT!! 😂 So, I like your “box and connect method”. Getting out my colored pens!! I also use sticky notes. I just ordered some transparent ones from Amazon. I have just subscribed to your channel. Looking forward to reading and studying with your study for the new year. 👍🏼⭐️🙌🏼
I am just discovering your videos after watching you review the Cambridge wide margin bibles. You are a hilarious and down to earth pastor and you have a new subscriber here, who loves to write in her bible. I purchased the NKJV wide margin and am getting ready to tear it up. Blessings!!
Oh my! Thanks for explaining how to add the color code . I use my inspire journal and the box method will sure help along with the reading plan you sure did an awesomely wonderfully thing to help so many to dig in the bible!
Great methods. Thanks for sharing them! In my ESV single column journaling Bible I underline stuff with a blue pen and write notes about what I underlined in a black pigma micron pen, starting with the chapter and verse reference. I use it on Sunday and write notes from the sermon about the text. This method is pretty clean, no lines running through the text to the sides where my notes are, but I do like how clear it is where your notes are referencing. In another Bible I like to just underline as I read with different colors. Blue for the main point of the passage, green for secondary parts that support the blue, red for other stuff - just because I have a multi pen and that’s the order of the colors on the pen. It’s always exciting to start a new Bible reading plan! Thanks for creating content and a community around reading the Bible bro!
As a senior citizen I greatly admire your discipline in bible Study and constantly reading the word of God. I am going to say my favorite Bible is the AUTHORIZED VERSION. MY mind flips back to KJV when ever I read. All my memorization is from the KJV Note: I am not a KJV only guy. My Pastor uses NASB. and I am a member of a non KJV only Baptist Church. Your encouragement in helpful to me.... Thank you.
Excellent. KJV only people can be very ... inflexible. Whichever Bible you read regularly is the one God will talk to you through. I'm of the opinion that all Bibles, from the passion paraphrase to the nasb, all say the same thing, they just use different words. Sometimes, skimming a different translation can "shake up" your Bible reading. But, allegiance to one Bible translation is commendable. Thank you for being a loyal reader of the Bible.
"When I don't use the test and demonstration bible I know that some of you FREAK OUT" I'm fairly sure some people freak out whenever you DO use the test and demonstration bible!
The "refreshed revelation" thing just happened to me YESTERDAY. I was in a Bible study group, discussing the second chapter of Judges, and when we were finished I went to another Bible, to look at some charts I'd drawn years ago. And there it was, the same phrase I had just said to the group about that chapter was written in pencil in a little corner, nothing to do with the charts. Man, the Holy Spirit can do some pretty amazing stuff with our memories.
Hey Jason, thanks for sharing the little box color method. I’m thinking this is my favorite method so far. The video you shared by Chad Brooks. In his video he didn’t really shared this method in its entirety. Does he have another video we’re he share more?✨
I use the color coded list method with the verse numbers. It's so easy to read when you come back to it. I also will label each one with a small 1,2.3, etc.
You're crazy, man! Tear it up! No washi tape or butterfly stickers here. Love your videos, as I'm just starting to write in my bibles. Or journaling, as some of us ladies say. And you really should make some of those shirts, too lol!
I have prayers in my notes also. It gets reallllllly crowded. But I love how to squeeeeeeze more in with your clean little colored boxes! Thanks.......[you are entertaining and edgy and I am 74.] :)
P.S. there is a minced 'swear' for for the f-bomb and that's a good thing to watch out for.....[minced being a small version--cut up to be more user friendly? ]
God must be talking brother lol. I was just talking to my wife about how I wanted to get a new Bible to start writing notes but wasn’t sure how to go about it and this pops up lol
We are taught from Kindergarten, "Do not write in any books!" Overcoming that training is not easy. Some people have 1 Bible for their entire Christian life, with their name & maybe the date they received that bible. Good for them. I'm an underliner, highlighter, and note-maker. I lost track of which number Bible I'm on around 4 or 5. I'm way beyond 4 or 5. "Fun people tear up their Bibles!" Agreed.
Hi Jason. Thank you for the great videos. I am a new Christian and I have been studying my huge NLT life study Bible. I am looking to get a smaller Bible with margins that I can take to church with me and journal in it like you do. Would you be so kind to recommend what Bible I should purchase? Once again, thank you so much for your videos and your teachings. Blessings.
Just was gifted a nice Bible with thin thin pages and must admit very nervous to highlight it I bought highlighters from Amazon that said doesn't bleed, however when I received them the package doesn't state no bleeding...stressful God bless great video
I signed up for membership and started the Galatians bible study middle of Dec 2020. After I did the first lesson my membership was canceled and money returned. Why? I did not cancel my membership. I want to continue.
Memberships on TH-cam have been discontinued (I announced this a while prior - you might have started your membership after the announcement) I'm working on a new platform that allows BETTER interaction with content AND ME PERSONALLY. BUT... it just takes time. I'm a one-man-band. :-)
I just got a Cambridge Concord Wide Margin Goatskin Bible, through Evangelical Bible. I haven't written in yet. This is going to become my new workhorse Bible. I'm looking forward to TUYB 2.0.
Whatever works for you. Notebooks are also an option, that way you have all your notes in one place and you can pass your Bible on and the next person can do whatever he or she wants with it.
Can you ( or anybody reading this comment) tell me what Bible you are showing in this video. I know you have talked about it before, but I can't find where you said the name of it. Thanks!
Pray for me! A month ago I stumbled on one of your TUYB videos and you became my gateway drug into premium Bible porn. My wife is now trying to find me a counselor but none see a problem here. Anyway, she told me to tell you that you will stand before the Lord and give an account.

A good remedy for all this is just to get a single column bible and stay out of the gutter. This way you get larger font and can write, right next to the scripture
So… I am not a fan of single column Bibles (for myself) because I find they aren’t as helpful with retention. Something about the double column format seems to aid with a more natural memorization process.
It concerns me that I spend more time (and money) on these systems than I spend time in God's Word just reading and studying. I am working on a very simple method for myself that will be meaningful to me later when I am reading my Bible. I will not be changing Bibles at the beginning of each year and want to be able to add to the original notes. And the stuffed-full of marks/signs/sticky notes is very distracting to me. I have found myself sliding over the Biblical text and spending my time reading notes. This isn't meant to be critical of anyone or any system! God created us to be unique so all methods just won't work for everyone. I enjoy cherry picking new ideas from those of you who post, and I pray God's blessing on your sharing whatever helps to retain/remind in the future.
I just can't write in my Bible. There I said it. I mean there's nothing wrong with doing it, and part of me wants to. But I've never been the kind of person to take notes for anything, so I have no clue how or where to start, which is why I am watching video like this, so stop yelling at me Jason. I mean I know you didn't mean it, at least I hope you didn't mean it. I don't actually know what I mean or why I am writing this comment, but there I said my peace.
I've been one of those "don't write in your bible" guys. I've been trying it out over the past couple of years and I am now converted.
