      Well, the handcam wasnt as much creativity as it was pure unadultered rage at wanting to prove that she was indeed shaking it lol

    I can honestly say that I’ve never had that problem, but the evidence seems clear that the problem isn’t that Ame is playing wrong.
    Excellent problem-solving for conveying the issue to the viewers in a way that is difficult to dispute (which is kinda necessary since she has been known to be toxic and blame ping instead).

    Maybe sushi rolls just aren't good at motion sensing...

  • @HoleSam
    @HoleSam 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

    I haven’t played it in a long time but i recall when using the wiimote in my right hand, a confident flick from left to right never failed. Doesn’t excuse Nintendo for designing it the way it is, but it never seemed buggy, just certain types of motions were needed. Shaking the remote like a can of softdrink maybe isn’t a motion the game is compatible with.

    • @HoleSam
      @HoleSam 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @xg223 I feel like there is. I said they aren't excused for designing it that way because there really isn't a good reason why the player cannot choose to have the action mapped to a button instead of a shake since the shake adds no nuance of control that a button cannot. Such a button option would alleviate both the issue Ame (and I'm sure many others) is having while also making it more generally accessible to those with motor disablilities. The amount of effort to implement a button alternative is likely extremely minimal.
      I'm no hater. I love many Nintendo games, but their accessibility options are historically appaling.

    • @HoleSam
      @HoleSam 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @xg223 The gist of what I'm getting at is this.
      Considering Nintendo are a big company with a wide reach who made games like Mario Galaxy to reach as wide of an audience as possible, I think accessiblility options should be included for those with difficulties. That's it. Does it take something physical away that they wanted to convey? Sure. However, if that physical thing gets in the way of enjoying a game like I saw here in this clip or in cases where someone has a motor difficulty, then I think it is safe to say having the OPTION to switch to non-motion does not take away from the core experience. Most people only go to options when something is annoying them, so you won't see too many abled people who pick up the controls just fine going to the options to switch to non-motion options.
      If Ame is having issues due to some unique set up, then that's too bad. My argument about these "any acceleration = action" inputs are not for things Wii era Nintendo couldn't have predicted. My argument is just about including simple options to make their games as accessible to the widest audience possible which seemed to be their whole schtick at the time of the Wii and DS era.
      For wii sports, in short, yes, accessibility OPTIONS for non-motion would be ideal, even if it was hidden deep in the options. People go to wii sports because the motion looks fun. Mostly only those with motor difficulties who can't enjoy it the same way as others would bother to switch to non-motion so they can join in the fun with others. Again, getting everyone amongst friends and family involved was the point back then, so these options may have made it possible for someone's grandparent to participate with their grandchildren even if they couldn't motion about.
      I'm sorry, but I can't discuss this further or respond to all your introduced points such as pointing a cursor because typing up my opinions takes a long time and I'm too busy with life to repeatedly engage with you intellectually. I've justified my original comment enough at this point. If you disagree, that's fine, but hopefully you can understand why I chose the word "excuse" in my original post by now.

    • @HoleSam
      @HoleSam 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @xg223 Now I'm starting to feel like you are missing my points as if I'm arguing things that I'm not. I'll give you this final message (for realsies this time) as a response to your points in your last message, afterwards I simply cannot afford to keep this up.
      Yes, they hoped the motion controls would make things more accessible. However, what is accessible for some is not for others. In the case of grandparents, sure some, maybe even most might be able to swing better than press a button, but I'm sure that for other grandparents with something as simple as arthiritis in their shoulder, they would prefer a button and sticks since it hurts to swing and shake. For this reasons having both motion and button/stick options would benefit all. I don't think this goes against reality like you claim what I said earlier does. What I was talking about earlier was about having the option for both, not just sticks and buttons over motion; this is what I am talking about here as well.
      "Nintendo made a product that did exactly what they wanted it to do, fully committing to their design without compromise, and it was massively successful". I don't disagree that their uncompromised choices resulted in success. What I'm trying to say is that by making the choice to included motion at the expense of traditional controls instead of ALONGSIDE traditional controls, they did ultimately negatively impact the accessiblility of their games to a subsection of their intended audience of everyone.
      "people who were offended that Nintendo made their Wii console MORE accessible to those who normally wouldn't or couldn't play videogames". This honestly sounds a bit absurd. Is it reality though? I don't know as I'm not some historian and was not on these forums (i was playing video games :D ). Personally I get the feeling from what I've heard over the years that people actually felt excluded by losing the ability to engage with games how Nintendo usually permitted on their consoles, most specifically in cases where button and stick options could have been included ALONGSIDE motion controls. Again, I don't know for sure.
      Seriously, respond if you want, I'll read it, but I am banning myself from responding further NO MATTER WHAT. You are passionate about the topic and I appreciate it, but I don't think at this rate we'll come to a mutual understanding of each other any time soon.

    • @jimmyjohnjoejr
      @jimmyjohnjoejr 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Juangim ikr it's somehow worse in odyssey, cause you need 2 joycons specifically if you want to do some of the special hat throws. Meanwhile in galaxy you barely have to move the remote to spin mario, at least in my experience. not sure why it isn't the same for ame but I'm guessing it has to do with a combination of cramped desktop setup and dumb sensor bar shenanigans
