Thanks so much for your tutorial! It’s great for blankets for babies and adults. I use US #10 and worsted yarn or US 15 with worsted yarn held double. This pattern is a great stashbuster for all of your leftover yarns!
Thank you for you conscience instruction. Finally able to knit something and multiple without too much error. Great 1 st project! I'm on my 4th one. I had different issues with all the others...wrong type of yard, knitting too tightly, made second half of the dishcloth with 1 less stitch of lace etc. But even with ally mistakes I at least learn from it!
I always wanted to make these! Thank you! I git sone Christmas color scrubby yarn at the Hobby Lobby clearance. I guess my friends and family will be getting these for Christmas!
I just found you! I was knitting a dishcloth/washcloth as I watched. I have knitted several dishcloths the way you showed here and also use more often than that way, Gramma's Dishcloth (without the yarn overs-I do a kfb to get the extra stitch) Either way, they have been easy to have on my needles, especially while watching our grandsons playing basketball. They are stored in a fun round box that my brother and his wife gave me one Christmas and I give them to all the women in my life at Christmas.
Great video and well explained. Suggestion, not meant to be a jab at all, maybe when using light yarn and needles you could have the table covered with a contrasting dark surface? It's a little difficult to make out the casting off stitches as everything is a similar wash. I have old eyeballs, what can you do?

I'm so happy you enjoyed this! I don't think it would matter a whole lot whether you use organic yarn necessarily, but it is important to use cotton and not wool so that it washes up well.
I make my own dishcloths but I only knit squares I never thought of doing diamonds. . Your diamonds do look lovely but is it more effective or just more attractive? My next ones are going to be like yours. Thankyou.

I make these using Knitpicks Dishie cotton yarn and # 7 needles. The Dishie is very soft, but other brands work well. And I also make small lap blankets 30 inches square for elderly people using this pattern and worsted yarn. I go to about 160 stitches, or just measure. Ask if your local facility may desire such an item.
I made one, easy to follow. I just finished, it didn't come out completely square 😂 but that's ok making more. I dropped a few Stitches, I dont know how to pick them up, so I just kept going. Thanks!

I’m the beginning you increase each row by one, Second row it shows you decrease by two. I follow this pattern and the decrease side is a lot smaller than the first half of the dishcloth. Since you increased each row on the first half , wouldn’t you ONLY decrease by one the last half ?
The great part about these more simple knitting patterns is how easy they are to adjust. Just increase to your desired size and then start decreasing again to finish it.

Mine tend to look a tad more diamond shaped than square as I finish them up to, but with the first wash, they settle into that square shape perfectly. How do yours look after getting wet?
@@MakingitintheMountains you might have more of a square if you start decreasing AFTER an odd count. ie you had 44 stitches on, try decreasing when you have 43 stitches on your needle :) I use 39 as a default as I prefer a smaller dishcloth so I can get it into a glass. But I also use a heavier weight (worsted 4 ply) and 4.5mm needle. Any odd number will do, no rule here. Can even make coaster size. Cheers

Hello, I’m new to this and I am a bit confused about needle sizes. When you say size 4 needle is that size 4 Canadian which means 6mm or size 4 American which is 3.5mm?
I'm so glad you asked - the term yarn in front means moving your working yarn (the string that you're pulling from the ball of yarn) from behind your knitting needles to in front of them. So, typically when you knit a stitch, the string of yarn would hang behind your knitting needles, but to add a stitch, it needs to move to the front, so that your knitting needle sits behind that string of yarn. Often it can just be the way it lays after knitting. Maybe try throwing it in the wash and see if that helps it find its proper shape.

Absolutely, you could easily increase your stitches to whatever size you'd like. :)

How can I prevent the end tip becoming stretched out?
It will work itself into its proper shape once it's been washed.
I went to 70 stitches and the cloth turn out to be 40 or so grams which still means my 100 gram skien can do another.

If you increase the stitch number you cast on at the number of rows you stitch, following the same pattern, you can make a larger cloth.
