I've been a Security guard for 18 years, and these changes are a joke! I've no objection to being trained at my place of work, but having to pay £99.00 for a First aid course that was always free in the past, and £86.00 plus for top up training, on top of the cost for licence renewal, as well as an exam and for what? a job that has always been known for paying a minimum wage, LMAO No it's just an excuse for money spinning on the governments and S.I.A's part. I'm letting my licence expire and leaving the industry, but it's not rocket science that these financial changes will put small security companies out of business.
@@NoxForest If this was a one off thing then i would grumble and live with it. But if it becomes a regular occurrence every 3 years, having to pay for a first aid course that should be free, and top ups in S.I.A class rooms instead of company training, as well as a licence renewal, then it's just not worth the hassle for a minimum wage job. I can't see small security businesses being willing or even able to increase their guards wages, so it'll be goodbye to those companies. Shouldn't be surprised if that was the plan all along with the government and S I.A , to finish off the small businesses, so like many other small businesses that have gone under in recent times.
I've just signed up to do security..my course starts on Monday..it's 9 days! £190.. door supervisor and first aid..best part? They are paying for it! Good for 3years then..
@@paulaeden5934 I guess your lucky if your firm pays for your licence and courses, but sadly so many companies in the private sector are to tight to pay. My company included. But pay it or not, it's just excuses to get more money from us.
So wait your telling me you’ve now got to pay for first aid training. You also have to pay for an upskilling course and then pay for renewal itself basically your now paying over £450 for renewal when it was initially £220 is that what is happening here?
Hi Mike, we appreciate your thoughts on this. As a small business, we are working hard to make these new course guidelines as affordable as possible for those looking to renew. As of right now, our combined top-up training is only £175, which includes both your First Aid qualification and your upskilling course.
I’ve been a security officer for 15 years and I think this new training is bullshit, I’ve already earned my license ,I don’t need to retrain to regain it, once you get your license that’s it. I don’t need first aid where I work, I’m on my own ,there’s nobody on this site. A complete waste of time and more money out of my insufficient wagers. This is just a way to make more money for the sia, the license renewal should be every 5 years not 3, this new training should be for new people who are trying to get there license not for seasoned officers like me. Not happy.
Hi Kristian, we can understand your feelings and concerns. But we are just a training provider and new rules and regulations have been brought by relevant body in consultation with stakeholders. This video just demonstrates the current renewal procedure.
Businesses are actually worried about this we have guys who just do 20hrs a week because their semi retired most will not renew their badge because of this a lot of guards are going to leave specially the guys who only get a few hours
have to say these new regulations have firmly pushed me away from even considering working in the industry.feel bad for the guy's who have been in the sector for any period of time.this job has 0 appeal.
Wouldn’t want anyone in the industry like you that aren’t willing to upscale, understand new legislations laws, risks anyway in the industry things change, and if you’re not willing to change or not worth to be in the industry

Doubt I'm gonna renew mine either when it runs out later this year. Sick and tired of all the bs.

Yes Mike, from 1st October 2021 onward to renew your SIA Door Supervisor licence you will require first aid and top-up training
After 18 years in the industry, this is the straw that broke the camel's back.
I'm currently looking for a new job.
