    I loved doing Security did for 15 years , i will not renew my DS anymore, SIA has become a big Cash machine its a joke i know many Well experienced DS who did not renew and now SIA will end up with Security officers with no experience and no english. Top up this Top up That , at least do the licence 5 years. I am done with security.

    I don't mean to sound nasty, but if the SIA keep this up you won't have anyone working in security. The industry convinced everyone into doing the more expensive longer Door Supervisor Course on the understanding it would lead to better job opportunities. It doesn't and still produces minimum wage employment and now the SIA want DS holders to do 2 more days of training and cost.
    Take my advice if you have to work in security just get a guarding licence. It's cheaper and less hassle and you can also downgrade from a DS licence.
    SIA can't keep off-loading this cost onto what is essentially a minimum wage job and expect us to act as police officers at the same time, it's just not on. Janitors earn more than security, worth thinking about.
    Also I already did a 6 day course on August 2001 so now it is essentially an 8 day course for me when all put together. But new applicants have to only do 6. Sorry but previous holders should be grandfathered in.

      Every three years you are required to do a top up course, first aid and Conflict Management? It's 3 days tops, there is nothing wrong in this as rules change and skills wane overtime, I've held a badge over 20 years a DS badge and I've no issue with the 3 years top up.

      @@georgepattinson9251 Sorry mate but it is a massive issue, This is simply pricing people out of security. The vast majority of jobs in this sector are minimum wage and require a lot of driving "fuel cost". People are not going to continue to stand by while the SIA try to slowly turn security into bargain basement police officers at our own personal financial expense and safety. Also if you know anything about skills they aren't something you can teach someone in a few days, skills take a life time of learning to master. What makes the real difference between good security officer and a bad one is character and no amount of training can give you that. Right now the Job Centre is funneling a lot of people of bad character into a security job they don't want and the so called training did nothing for them. Don't even get me started on the vast amounts of ridiculous training programs the big security companies also put you through because apparently being SIA approved isn't enough for them either.
      I'll also just add, look at the stats on DS licences and you'll find they are starting to decline because the big security companies are starting to downgrade officers licences when they come up for renewal, primarily because of the cost (cheaper) and time wasted, same with CCTV licences. SIA brought this upon themselves. The other knock on effect of this is companies are start to go back to in-house security and not even bothering with an SIA licence because it isn't required.

      @@georgepattinson9251it’s not even every three years. As it stands, there is no further training. You simply just renew your badge in three years time

    How long does the elearning section usually take? Is it just reading through the content or is there online test to take?

    • @getlicensed
      @getlicensed  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The E-Learning consists of some videos and short quizzes to test your learning. This should take 5-6 hours but you can do it at your own pace.

    • @getlicensed
      @getlicensed  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      How long ago did your licence expire and when did you complete the training? If you log into your account on the SIA website you should be able to see if your qualification is valid and if you can renew your licence.

      You are absolutely right, these rules are stipulated by the SIA. You must have the right documents and must have completed your e-learning or else you will be turned away, just the way you would be turned away from boarding a flight without your passport or visa.

    I honestly wish the SIA and the government never gave up with this idea to get more money form people and they have to resit another 2 exams to pass as the people who struggles I bet they stress about this too up course as if they keep failing they will be out the job why did you the SIA come up with this for anyway that’s what I want to understand it’s rubbish as well! and the people who can’t read exams questions again or struggles or pass them they will be on the job center again! I am one off them who can’t read properly or writ I was so glad I passed the second time but it’s nerve racking as you need to pass before you can renew your license again! there’s no point in it all
