Will go down as one of the best sports rivalries in history. The passion from both sides, the importance for the Wings to win in 1997 after losing to them in 1996. The AVs were basically the crappy Quebec Nordiques turned into a major hockey powerhouse in the 90s and early 2000s (and now they are back as favorites to win the Cup in 2022)...and the Wings being this historic, storied franchise that had risen from the dead...only to be stunted in 94, 95 and 96...left in near desperation in 97. Fabulous display of intense hockey, full of skill and grit. If you lived through it...you know how important it was. As a Wings fan...the memories are everlasting.

Nick and Orr are the greatest defenseman of all time
orr in his own class lindstrom and larry robinson next level down
@RUhere4the TRIGGERING not excited
Top 10 sure but not "the best"
There's this guy named, Ray Bourque...
@Barrack Ebola one cup, 5 norris trophies
Lot of loyalty to Boston, prevented more cups
Even as a Bruins fan who should say Borque or Orr, Lidstrom is the best defenseman who ever lived in my opinion.
At one point, the NHL was the most exciting sport in the world.
Greatest d man of all time
Is there anywhere I can buy pink Whitney in southern ontario?
Come to the north. Wioooooooo
D R came once in 06... not again until I win the lottery
Is Nick the Tim Duncan of Hockey?
Mike Saks except more legendary
Mike Saks he’s arguably the best defenceman of all time
Nick Dobro um Duncan is undoubtably the greatest power forward of all time
This is a perfect analogy
Hard to believe him and IKEA were made in the same place
Lidstrom took a piss on that IKEA rug and it tied the room together.
How can anyone not like Lidstrom
Smart move negotiating your own contract if you are at the caliber of Lidstrom.
The Winged Wheel has been worn by some special guys. Dude was $ on the blue line.
Great job boys
Hello Jose? Can you say CHRIS DRAPER?
Biz looks like he just got out of prison in this lmfao
I was a avs fan during that rivalry, the best fight was between Roy and osgood.
I think Roy vs Vernon was better
I went to most of those games Avs-Wings in Colorado.Great atmosphere!Lots of Wings fans at our rink.I understand, would you want to always be in Detroit?
Funny how people that knock Detroit have never been there.
I live near Detroit and it's not great...honest assessment, a lot of people romanticize the city but the reality is it's a pretty f'd up place. Unfortunate...it could be, should be a great city.
Avs never had a problem. We upset them in 1996 when they were favored big time and the rest was them having a tantrum
The perfect human. Hated Detroit, awestruck by Lidstrom.
If there was 3rd cup between Pittsburgh & Detroit in 2010
The Avs Wings series wouldve been forgotten ...
We had a stanely cup finals rivarly
Sorry nic it started with Foote getting his head driven in the boards with no call
He speaks better English than anyone on the panel.
The rivalry may not have been the same as the Avalanche vs Red Wings. But the Dallas Stars were in the mix with these teams. They didn't like each other. And in my opinion Belfour outplayed Roy when it counted most.
It was a real nasty rivalry, but the Canadiens vs Nordiques, and the Canadiens vs Bruins were Wilder and nastier.
yep, in the 80s because of the divisional structures, they had to through each other every single year in the playoffs. so intense.
2nd best d man ever
Biz looking like an escaped convict.
Correction, It was some red wings player that smashed Foote's face into the glass that kicked it all off!
CAPT AVALANCHE holy fuck bud his name was Slava Kozlov. Hey there were these two Avalanche players #19 and #21 I cant remember who they were but they were pretty decent I guess.
mason mills this dude is actually offended that you didnt remember Kozlov’s name lol
@Joe Sudz True story. I was at a DU game wearing a Red Wings hat. Adam Foote had his son there and his seats were right next to mine. I said Hi to him and he refused to acknowledge me, then left his seats halfway through the first and watched from the concourse.
@Joe Sudz This was 2008, he probably has gotten over it by now. One would hope!
@@masonmills5917 Joe Sacklick and Peter Foreskin?
Avs are taking the cup this year
Haha flames kick them out in 4 buddy
@@stumpy408 lmao sure
@@stumpy408 isn't that what you said last year
1stump 1 lol bro the flames are BARELY in the WC 2 spot... gotta make the playoffs first.
People seem to forget the cheap shot by Kozlov on Foote is what started everything.
Exactly, when Kozlov smashed his face into the glass. The Lemieux hit on Draper was brutal, and I can understand why Detroit was angry, but it is definitely not what started it all.
Cheap shot? Watch the replay again. Kozlov is a skilled player and was repeatedly speared in the ribs by Foote when going around the net. Foote was a dirty POS. He had it coming one way or the other.
sergeontheloose bud Kozlov jumped and smashed his head into the glass.
sergeontheloose th-cam.com/video/MdKusPhRHAM/w-d-xo.html
Not a cheap shot eh bud? Ooook.
@@Aebischer1984 This was not the first time Foote tried to "abuse" Kozlov and it backfired. The thinking was "we could intimidate those russians with dirty tactics" and it backfired right into his face into the glass.
RA is so fidgety, he literally cannot sit still. But he does ask great interview questions.
Please get that bald goon off of the podcast
Ehhh not bad for a 3rd round pick.. lol..
I kick myself for not watching him more when he was I t he league. I was a leaf fan so not very smart
At least Lids knows that Mac shoulda been tossed in that goon game as well. NHL refs at their worst.
the fuck is biz wearing????
Get ready for the youtube virtue signaling.."I'm not a red wings fan but..."
I'm not a Red wings fan but... I'm a swede, and swedes loves Nick. Simple as that.
I’m not a Red Wings fan, but I’m a Red Wings fan
Those red wings teams where some of the dirtiest teams in hockey history.
Zzzzzzzzzz, zero insight, nothing new
