  • This is a 2-hour bullet chess tournament, Lichess Titled Arena September 2019, I provided commentary on while specifically observing World Chess Champion Magnus Carlsen compete. I livestreamed this event at twitch.tv/ChessNetwork. Lichess Titled Arena September 2019 is held for titled chess players only, namely Grandmasters, International Masters, FIDE Masters, National Masters etc... Magnus Carlsen played under the account "DrNykterstein" for this event. Its $1,000 prize pool goes to the top 5 players, with 1st - $500, 2nd - $250, 3rd - $125, 4th - $75, and 5th - $50. This tournament was played on September 7th, 2019.

@@arbestcrontisb4248 His rating in bullet is insane. Magnus is even more ridiculous with a 2900+ over performing to over 3000 vs Rebecca Harris another insane player. Jerry is more than qualified considering he is a NM who is improving steadily and approaching the elite level of GM.

@@arbestcrontisb4248 Jerry's level, in games long enough for him to have time to comment on them live, is good enough to teach me how to win against those who are (still) a bit higher ranked than I am. I doubt Magnus Carlsen or Fabiano Caruana would connect much to my level, or to the level of most chess players. It is called an "appropriate" teaching level.

Jerry’s a 2300 player, 500 points behind the elite. Chess is not like other sports where an amateur who’s never played the game can just watch and describe what’s going on. A world championship chess commentator team must have at least one player, such as Yasser, Giri, Svidler, etc. who has experience playing at the elite level. Even a regular 2500 GM can’t do a very good job of commentating on a WC game in real time. Jerry is like Agadmator, an entertainer, not a serious chess player.
