  • I join Shevin from Wondering Monkey for their annual Get Your Paddles Wet Subscriber trip. The plan was to go Kayak Camping in New River State Park. Monumental Rains and a funeral changed some plans. The crew stuck it out and made the Most of a wet weekend. We managed to get in a run on a swollen river to cap off a crazy weekend. Most importantly...I meet my biggest fan!

    Great job man. Glad you could make it. Great tribute. It's amazing to see how one little connection links so many of us. As much as we joke/insult each other I still enjoy each trip we get to paddle together. See ya soon!

    Love seeing people run that river in a Next hybrid. It’s quickly become my favorite canoe.

    Great video Pete....."A river touches places it source knows nothing of" Oswald Chambers. Completed a kayak camping trip on this section of the New River a couple weeks ago with some good friends....all 3 of us had our souls restored and we also enjoyed a burger and some fried pickles at Motleys.

    I know the Shevin's were disappointed in the weather because they had planned this for a long while. Great job on this video. You definitely paddled "deeper" than usual. Great job, very powerful. A $100 bet? You needed to give us more detail on that.

      By the way. The Buffalo river is beautiful. Water was a little low but still fun. Not really hammock friendly. We had to pass on some beautiful camping spot due to lack of trees. But sleeping in that hammock tho!!!! We had a great time. Didn't get much footage. GoPro laid down on me. I would read my battery. I would get about 5 minutes of use and it would shut down. I tried several full batteries and it never did work. Maybe next time on the next river!! Thank for all the inspiration and information. I sure did help!!

    That back camera mount has very little wiggle. What are you using? 1/2 inch pvc pipe at 4.5 feet tall moves way too much. I am trying to build one that will break in the middle (and still stay attached) so I can go down streams with overhanging branches.

    • @RiverKingsKayak
      @RiverKingsKayak  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just saw this. I'm using a RAM mount ball and a 24" RAM mount Pole. I keep that GoPro camera on superview. I can actually reach it with my hand to turn it on and off and it folds down if it hits a branch. Super easy just prop back up and it holds pretty well. I thought I was going to need a taller pull myself and experimented and got the same wiggle problem. The 24-inch pole is been working great for me. If you check out my latest video on the pre-owned Yukon Expedition, I detailed that little portion and you can get a visual. Thanks for watching!

    Life is as a vapor.....You've got it right, a life of "self" is So small. We never know who is going through what as we encounter them through our everyday life. I think it is so much better when we leave an imprint of positivity and even the smallest gesture of kindness, of focusing on someone else for a moment can give them the boost they need to get through a difficult day, as life happens. Thank you.
