    I've been using Keyshot for a couple years now and I can tell you that in terms of lighting I've completely learned more from this 45 min tutorial than I have from experience (which honestly speaks poorly of my skills but then at my job they generally want fast, simple renderings) as I've never really taken the time to go deep into every feature. Looking forward to your next tutorials and I just signed up to your latest webinar on material graphs, definitely excited about that one. Amazing job!

    Hi Will, I find this tutorial to be really enlighting! I always have a question that i sould like to get sorted out, do keyshot profesionals prefer physical lights or HDRI on the most part? Thanks!

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think it's going to depend 100% on each unique situation. HDRIs render faster, but if you struggle to get the lighting the way you want or to dial in your shadows with the HDRI, then area lights are the way to go. It's not one over the other, just think of one as a Flathead screw driver and the other as a Philips head. Different tools for different jobs!

    Hi sir,, i was rendering image in Transparent Background but the ground plane is appearing ..please help me out.

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You'll need to hide the ground plane. A physical ground plane is geometry (even if you can see through it). You'll need to have ground shadows turned on in the environment settings and enable ground illumination if you want in the real-time render settings. Then, hide your physical ground plane and render with transparency and it should work out.

    • @gauravgandhi1925
      @gauravgandhi1925 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@WillGibbons i see.... i actually did that to get transparent bkground . I just had a doubt if i hide the ground plane
      then it may loose some properties in the overall render ..
      But you just cleared my doubt...
      Thank you very much sir :) .
      Fan btw 💕

    Awesome video! Simplifies all about lightning. I have question though. I'm using keyshot 8, i don't know if thats the problem, but when i add a pin on a geometry added cube, the light illuminates the whole face of the cube. When i reduce the pin size the light becomes weaker but i don't manage to get the pin light contour on the object. Thanks!

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      If your light gets weaker when you scale the pin down (and it will), you need to increase the brightness. To get the contour, the light needs to be LARGER than the object and placed behind or to the side of your object. Hope that helps.

    Super nice tutorial - thank you! Is it possible to export the Environment as HDR to use in a different software? Manual says so but I can only save "HDZ"s...

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  ปีที่แล้ว

      You should be able to export other formats unless it's endoded as HDZ. Environments that are protected, like some of the photographic environments in KeyShot's library are not able to be exported.

    • @TicBoarding
      @TicBoarding ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you @@WillGibbons , yes you`re right- HDRs can be adjusted and exported. It`s just that all the KS environments are HDZ- also the studios etc. Well- I`ll get some elswhere then. Cheers!

    Thanks for the tutorial :D Quick question: can you put this kind of a realistic product render as a "product image" in your website or etsy?

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sure! Why not? I suppose you should be sure the product you're advertising is practically identical so you're not advertising something that you're not selling. That said, nearly all the marketing shots you see from large companies are indeed renderings.
