    also, .exr files can be used as image pin wich supports alpha when blend mode is "add, blend or screen".

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great point! Only issue there is, you can't bring the pins closer to the object, and they don't provide accurate falloff like physical light sources do. But for getting reflections... it's a good idea!

    Hi Will,
    Thanks for your content in general, just subscribed! I have two questions-
    1- Adding .HDRI or .EXR textures to area lights - When I add an .HDRI image to the area light, is the actual HDRI texture emitting light too, or is it just showing in reflection as basic plain image texture without any light emitting properties?
    2- Area light has two tabs under texture, one for color and one for power. I can add the HDRI/EXR to Color only, what is the Power texture tab for?
    Thanks!!!!!

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Answers:
      1 - The light emitted should match the texture color
      2 - Animating the brightness via a curve animation node in the material graph

    Great tutorial like always. Never can expect less from the best. Will one question I just started my channel but in Spanish. Do you think I can do this video but in Spanish?

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Jorge, thanks for asking! I like that other people want to create learning content! However, I would hope you can make your own tutorials unique. If you simply copy what I've done here and do so in another language, it feels a bit like plagiarism. Quite a bit of time and effort go into making my tutorials. Further, I've created some files that I made available for viewers of this tutorial. It would be pretty unfortunate if someone were to take those files and re-distribute them.
      While I can't stop you, I'd ask if you can come up with a unique approach or a different way of sharing the ideas behind this method. I hope you can understand my perspective on this.

      @@WillGibbons . Definitatly will believe me in not trying to steal your content. I understand your point of view. Is there anyway I can translate the video and you can maybe add subtitles. The Spanish community needs to also learn your techniques. And our language shouldn't be a barrier.

Seems that it's exclusive to their subscription now so to be able to continue to use their HDRI collection you need to keep the subscription active. Then, if you save the lights as a model to your model library, they'll be there each time you import (assuming you keep the textures in a secure location on your computer's disk and don't move or delete them after applying them to your model/scene)

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Not really. You're best off just rendering the image with one object hidden. Then, render just the object on its own and either mask it out or render it without a ground plane and alpha transparency and combine them in photoshop.

    Hi Will!
    Thanks for all your work, it's very helpful into my keyshot learnings ;)
    When checking this video I was interested in buying the GGS AREA LIGHT MAPS VOLUME 1 or 2 but it looks like you must have first an additional subscription of 49€/month or a yearly subscription to GGS to be able to make the purchase. I was wandering is that the way you proceeded when you bought those files or was it without subscriptions at that time? It is quite inconvenient to have to subscribe.
    Thanks per advance for your comments!

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Great point. Unfortunately, when I created this tutorial, GSG was still selling their products individually. Since then, they've moved them all into their subscription model. So, not much that can be done about that I guess.

    How we can bump texture with color ?

    • @WillGibbons
      @WillGibbons  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm not sure what you mean. Any color textures used as bump maps are converted to graysale which drives the bump height. You can use the same texture and plug it into the diffuse socket of the material and you'll have both color and bump data from the same texture.
