Been following Felix's journey since January 2012 and describing it as fascinating is an understatement. Hell I basically grew up watching the guy. Parasocial relationships are often red flags but after "knowing" him for so long I can't say he was a bad influence on me, the opposite actually. Yes the fact that he's been part of my childhood has made it easier to forgive him for the stuff he did, but it also taught me what not to do and how to approach your mistakes with honesty.
Honesty and humility. I think those are the keys as to why he can't be canceled.

I love Pewd's and have since I really started following him about 5 or years ago. One of the things that I used to love about him is that he considered most things not to be off-limits in the context of comedy and good hearted, non-hate speech jokes as that was a position I subscribed to for most of my teenage and adult life so far. That stance is one that I have moved farther and farther off of now in the last couple of years because I end up seeing more and more ways that that single stance is completely counterintuitive to so many other morals and norms that I hold dear in my own life; and I think that is part of the biggest problem with how these things came out with Pewd because the regular watchers and fans knew that this wasn't the kind of person he was, I surely have never believed that he actually held any of these ideals himself rather he just pushed the limit for the sake of the joke and the troll. The problem when doing that, though, it will make some portion of even the knowledgeable fans see this the glaring incongruitous nature of a few of these edgy jokes versus the norm of his personality. It would take something a lot stronger than any of this for me to rework the way I see Felix as a person, but I can say that I truly understand those who see this stuff and are completely put off or triggered or offended by it. I am glad to say, however, that I believe he has learned from these mistakes and whether or not it has changed his mind about "joking about anything being ok as long as they are just jokes" or not, I personally appreciate the new lane he has taken up, especially after the Christ Church shooter invoking his name (that seems to me where the biggest changes started). This is a person that has evolved from a teenager, to a man-child, to a wild adult, and then to a wise-for-his-years young man in front of our eyes, and I see my own personal journey reflected in that a lot. I think when people argue about cancel-culture and separating the art from the artist, Pewdiepie is a prime example that can be pointed to to prove that A. The final product from an artist isn't always meant to represent things they believe or that even what seems to be the 'overt message' is actually what the artist was trying to convey and B. That even huge celebs who make mistakes in the public eye, whether it is 1 mistakes or numerous; and whether the mistakes were truly accidental or were purposeful "mistakes" for attention and talk; those celebs are still real people who can sometimes tell when they have made a mistake or held a belief that they shouldn't have and make attempts to change it. Its unfortunate that probably 80% of celebrities and content creators (and even down to high school sports players) who make a huge, cancellable gaffes online usually never recover to where they were before, regardless of if they handle the situation in a logical, caring manner or not (excluding those who commit super immoral or illegal acts). Pewdiepie had numerous instances where he did or said something that people rightfully (for the most part) got upset about and while he did give some of the generic apology videos that are a staple on this platform now, he did something much harder and much more important: He made changes to himself, his behavior, and his mindset away from the camera and allowed the ship to right itself. I still count myself as part of the Bro Army. Floor Gang, and whatever else we have been called and judging from the Pewdiepie I've come to know, love, and respect I don't foresee that changing until the day he decides to walk off into the sunset.

A lot of creators fall into pretty easy traps and arguments that save them from considering the negative implications their content has. This is the case of anyone who says "it's just jokes" or "haters be hatin".
Pewdipie on the other hand has proven time and time again that he understands the power and influence he can have with his platform and chooses to be a mature and responsible creator. He never leaves any doubt as to what his intent was and makes sure he is never a bad influence or interpreted as pushing wrongful ideologies. He also doesn't dismiss people offended by his jokes and always considers if he's in the right or if he can be better.
Couldn't think of anyone better to be on top.

I was born in 2001 and have been using TH-cam since the site launched in 2005. PewDiePie is one of only 2 content creators on this site from my childhood that I still regularly watch today, and it's simply because he's genuine.
He is a human being like the rest of us. He's made mistakes like the rest of us. And the difference between Felix and other celebrities (for lack of a better term) is that he never tried to defend himself when he knew he did something wrong. I mean Travis Scott's apology after the Astroworld incident was appalling and people literally *died* at that event. There are TikTok stars with millions of followers who have engaged in predatory behaviour and in their public statements about it they still try to defend themselves. Felix doesn't do that, he actually admits he was wrong, apologises properly and then takes the steps to be better, and that effort shows.
And he's right, that's why he still has people watching his videos. Because the people watching know who he is. They still watch because he's a real person.

Felix has made huge mistakes, but you can truly tell how bad he feels and how sincere his apologies are. He has a very dark sense of humor that not everyone understands or finds funny. Additionally, Felix comes across as a compassionate, very down to earth person. He also doesn’t flaunt his wealth and that makes him seem relatable and modest, which people feel closer to him. Just my take in understanding why he’s so popular.

During the whole PewDiePie vs T-series thing I first visited his channel liked his contant, So I did what 14 year old me did best (waste time making 100 TH-cam accounts and subing to PewDiePie). But after a while I saw his contact it still doesn't make sense according to current standards that a content creator like pewds could the very top of the chain, If he started like in 2/3 year before he would just one of those million+ subed channel which people mostly watch for the guys girlfriend. But his starting so early made him what he is today, he could ve said that he set the standard as how TH-cam should be used.
