  • Brief video demonstrating the Makita LH1201 table top mitre saw as I bought this to replace my sliding mitre saw so that I can make occasional cuts using the table feature without having to buy a dedicated table saw.

    This video clearly illustrates how NOt to use a table saw . he is using the push stick on the wrong side of the blade .
    this is one of the most dangerous things you can do on a table saw . it's amazing the cut piece between the blade and the fence did not kick back .

    • @pete_lind
      @pete_lind 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He has blade guard and riving knife on place , those prevent most accidents , yeah the piece between side guide and blade can still fly off .
      Also it was short piece of lumber , usually you use table saw first, for long material and then miter saw .
      First job is to make some push aides from 2 by 4 or plywood and forget that plastic stick , its Makita so it is likely that its not the type that explodes when hitting blade.

    Just FYI for safety, you really should use the push stick on the side of the wood against the fence. That piece can fly back and hit you if you don't. You can see in the video that it did start to fly back.

      Also you shouldn’t keep your fingers that close to the blade because if it does get kickback or bind up it can pull your fingers into the blade. There’s many sawstop videos of it happening on TH-cam.

    I don't think any manufacturers sell these combo saws in the US and I don't know why. I think they are pretty cool. Of course, we're all so spoiled that we would need a cordless, brushless, wireless dust-extractor switching model. Why not? Thanks for the demo and good luck with the channel!

      Another thing that annoys me is they often don't have a option for dust collection in circular saws in North America, but usually do everywhere else with the same brand.

    Your left hand should NEVER be up to or past the blade. Your left hand should be held back before the blade. PERIOD! Your push stick should NEVER be pushing on the waste side of the cut. Never! Period!

      I don't see any connections that would tilt the blade and not the work surface. I also don't see enough clearance on the surface, around the blade to suggest that it can tilt.

    Hi! Love the review! Question: in the description on the Makita website it says: remember to change the blade when switching saw-mode. You don’t seem to do that in the video, or do you?

    • @briankleinschmidt3664
      @briankleinschmidt3664 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@briankleinschmidt3664 exactly, but would I have to buy a second blade or not? To me that would be pretty much a dealbreaker. I have no interest in switching blades all the time. It would kind of kill the whole dual mode saw thing for me.
