- I am going to attempt to hydro dip (because of you guy's suggestion) the lamp shade that goes to the lamp I epoxied on my turner in a previous video. While I'm at it I might as well hydro dip a pair of shoes.

I have done a lot of hydro dipping with spay paints and automotive paints. My husband was a auto paint sales rep for years, my youngest son paints airplanes and my brother in law is a professional painter so I’ve been blessed to have all sorts of supplies at my fingertips at no cost-just my free time playing around. Years ago I dipped wind chimes in auto motive paints…still have it and it still looks cool. I like doing wall murals almost done with a whimsical medieval castle in our shop.

When I hydro dip and I want more of another color in the mix after the first dip, I will use the color I want and use the clear and swirl it in the water bucket and then dip my tumbler a second time. It looks 3-D after I do that. I love hydro dipping!!!

yay I was number 143 for the thumbs up!!! 143 means I love you! Woot! I love my Duncans Custom Airbrush!! I throw darts too. My husband and I used to be on a dart team years and years ago. I was mad fun. I love the shoes and the lamp! I tried doing a toombler with spray paint once but it looked like a blindfolded toddler did it with their feet.

Funny and informative as always! I prefer the dip to the spray paint. Perhaps the pink that didn’t show up well is a translucent as opposed to an opaque? Great job regardless!

Maybe try a wider tote so you can dip 2 things at once? The water only needs to be deep enough to submerge the item right? So more shallow and rectangular container.

When you hydrodip the colors you use first will be the colors on top of the colors. It’s like the top colors fold under the bottom colors as you push the piece down into the water.

Neon paints are usually transparent or translucent and typically show up better on a dark base and need to be same consistency so that they "float" on top of one another when layered
If you want to paint a lamp shade you need to use ceiling paint or flat paint and roll it on with a cabinet paint roller. It works great.

First hydro dip was shoes the kids loved it
This has probably been said but you need a bright white base to get your neon colors to pop. Neon colors alone are pretty transparent

I wear size 6 shoes. Im in Napa Calif. It is 11:11pm Friday night in my new home by Lake Berryessa. I would love to have those shoes. Im 73 year young lady multi artist. I did this method to dip Easter eggs back in the 60s. I love your accent.

Where did the green come from ... ? 🤔 You used yellow and you used blue, if those two colors touched when dripped or when you did the swirling part that would have created the green. This whole project was cool. That lamp and shade looked better than anything Wally-World sales. In my opinion of course.

Your second shoe didn’t go in at 45°, it was more like 80°. Great video.
You can use nail polish to hydrodip too... most nail polish will work, but not all... The trick is to get it swirled and then dip, before the polish dries on the surface.... Obviously, don't use quick dry polish.
Nail polish was the first thing i ever tried for hydro dipping - it was really hard to get it to do right
