1. Let’s all thank Marling for his dedication. A man with kids and a wife could’ve just said “I don’t really have time to go test baits” but instead he brought the test site to him. All for us. Thank you! 2. Could you get amazing footage of the baits by turning off the lights in your garage and then putting some underwater LEDs in the tank to light the footage but eliminate glare? Food for thought.
You should turn of light from above to avoid reflections or buy a polarized filter for your camera or do both. That we can have a better look to your tank. Ps: Great job! ;)
As someone who takes great pride in my carpentry skills I'm honestly jealous of your precision on your drilling and cutting near perfect every time. Not just in this video but a few others I've seen as well. I was especially amazed on that video where you drilled that one bait on one and and the other end and they lined up perfectly. You werent the only one that thought that was cool..
Stoked about the future use of the build maybe a pump for a stream simulator Just a thought you probably already thought of but like a question never asked, so I suggested 🤷♂️🤷♂️ As always thanks for the content
Awesome! I’m looking forward to see how that tank evolves. I recommend more indirect lighting, and water quality may become a challenge in the future, but it definitely does what you wanted it to!
For a guy in his garage, with some tools and know-how, you did a really spectacular job honestly hats off, sir. I can't wait for the Underwater camera swim bait videos.
Hey mate, put a gopro in the tank at each end and on the side, put the side view on superview and 120fps. And the end cameras on narrow and 60fps so we can see the actions from under the water! Also coat the top of your plywood as it will soak up water and start expanding. And like others have mentioned, seal your lid to prevent as much growth as you can. Love the fact you have this now mate! Cheers From New Zealand!
Nice work! You are going to get a lot of use from that tank. Have you ever made a lure that looks like your shepard? I know you made a chipmunk once, and a few other non fish lures, I think a tribute lure for your dog would be awesome.
I'm jealous of your new testing tank! You might consider a filtration system for the water long-term. That's gonna be a bummer if all that water goes bad. Thanks for all the great videos!
That water will go "bad" in 1 month. It will be all slimy. Its not fun test lures in that water. I have also water tank to test my lures, but i empty tank from water after i have done testing. And i also dont test just one lure, but multiple lures at once.
I watched you come such a long way in the last few years! Happy you finally don’t have to leave your house to test your baits, but I also hope it’s not the end of the 1 days that end in catching a fish..
Nice test tank. You could go into the end closest to the wall and make an inch and a half drain port that will go right outside. That water is going to get nasty in there over time. It would also help the have a fast drain system if it develops a small leak. Then you can drain it, fix the leak and fill it back up..
Viewing on action of the lures have significantly improved! I have a former coworker who built his own aquarium out thick lexan/polycarbonate sheets. It was 8'x4'x4'. That way you can also see it from the side too. Also consider a backyard water garden pond with fish and plants. The whole family will enjoy it.
Good first go. On Version 2: Drain Plug, Lighting, Observation/film Port, Full seal of all wood inside and out, on dimensionally stabilized building materials, a water filtration system (stagnant water is eeeeewww) and finally a lock on that lid. NOW is the winter of our ONE DAYYYYY
As soon as I saw him breaking out the epoxy, I was worried he wouldn't install a drain line/plug/hole. There will 100% be a time when you need to get the water out of there, and it will be a whole lot more work and mess without that feature. Love having the lid on there though. Considering how big it is in your space, I assumed your plan was always to have it act as a work surface when not in use. Love the videos though man, looking forward to seeing you make all those lures official.
I thought the same thing, though I’m sure it’s a work in progress and we will see many upgrades along the way. Easy enough to cut a section of hose to siphon out the water, or if you are crafty with a section of pvc pipe and a heat gun you can bend the pipe into an “easy to hook on” shape and even introduce a taper in the pipe to make the siphon more efficient. Eventually a proper drain will be a must, but it would take 10 minutes to install one assuming you can make a clean hole going through the epoxy and not get any big chips/flaking. Love seeing stuff like this!
My son and I watch you every night before bed. Huge fans. May I suggest a lock for the lid for your little one running around….. they find a way into everything. Keep up the great work.
Well done! I spent four months trying to build a sustem to create a laminar current within a fish tank, in order to test crankbaits and swimbaits. My fabrication skills were not up to the task. Now I just throw my baits in the swimming pool. I should have done that in the first place.
That is good! I love the testing tank/swimming pool. Maybe you should put one of those black rubber on the end wall to avoid clashing the baits there. Pretty nice, though.
Very fun build! I think you may end up wanting to install some kind of drainage valve so you can drain it for cleaning and what not. You could also get a fish tank filter and run it continuously to keep everything fresh in there.
Having built large aquarium tanks for doctor offices before that was a thing in the 1970’s we built frames and used safety glass and thick as 3/4” and 6’ wide and 5’ tall installed into a closet with the glass only showing. Lined the inside with fiberglass resin! The tanks we built that were not removed by new tenants and still in use some are over 50 years old! You could put a glass front with maybe 1/2’ safety glass and have a window to watch your lures from the side!
Really serious aquarium enthusiasts will build large aquariums because it's more cost effective, they use plywood and pond shield. They use fiberglass mat in the corners for support. But the aquariums aren't completely surrounded by 2x4. And since you filled the seems, you shouldn't have any issues. Good job. I'd love an indoor pond and this is how I would make it. The blue looks great too.
Hey! Very nice projekt. My idea whilst seeing your project was, to if you would make the container one fourth of the current length and if you would install a circulating water flow like in a reverse flow swimming pool. Then you could have close ups from the swim bait, as it always stays on the same position (beside the side movement)
definitely should have put a drain in the floor lol other then that fantastic, also a piece of lexan on the back wall for those bait hits to protect it, and maybe an under water cam
I think it would be sick to paint and feature your marling baits signature in the inside of the tank so your underwater footage videos will include your name to your viewers. Also would accentuate that custom made look. 🤩 Good job on this project, the color and size looks perfect!
I'd love to have a big garage like yours to do my metal work, I love your videos and workspace it's something for me to work towards giving me a clear view of my own goals
Excellent idea! You’re going to definitely get some great use out of this addition to the shop! It will definitely be interesting to drop a GoPro into the tank. Excited to see the future videos! Nice job!
I love the new tank brother also super nice quick work tank waiting for leak updates because it looks like an amazing idea for my indoor koi pond I want to build
Long time fan really enjoy all your content. Awesome work, great idea to see the baits working in such detail 👌 2 minor suggestions 1. would recommend sealing the top edge of the plywood above the water level with epoxy. When the water gets in there from the lures splashing might cause it to swell causing issues down the line. 2nd A rubber mat at the end might also help with the lures hitting the back wall.
Great addition to the shop that should be very useful, I do enjoy watching you go out and trying to catch fish though. Just a thought you may want to consider a drain on the end incase you need to move it to park your Lambo or whatever.
I love the video this is a super cool upgrade to your shop, two things I thought might be useful would be a camera mounted to the wall above the window dedicated to taking shots of the tank. Another is it might be a good idea to treat the water with pool chemicals so the water doesn't turn green or nothing starts living in there
Love the build! In my arm-chair-commenting - the future tank-2.0, maybe consider putting a number of castor wheels on it to be able to sort-of move the tank when the need arises.
What a great build! Turned out amazing. Im surprised you found room for it. Looking forward to seeing it in future videos. An overhead camera might be warranted depending on glare. Would look really cool.
You need a version of theJebao SCP- crossflow wavemaker. Aquarium pump, but great for all sorts of stuff. It essentially will let you create a sheet of water across the top. It creates a circular recirculation and would act exactly as dragging it back towards you in the water just by dropping it in.
You may need to get a polarizing filter for your camera to cancel the glare out in the test tank. They work like fishing polarized sun glasses. For shooting on water they are a must to have to cancel the glare. Best of all they are not too expensive but the result are impressive. You might could make a straight mount that allows you to center the camera over you test tank. Also think about maybe a underwater microphone to pick up lure noise as it moves through the water.
Bro you're jacked! I know you said you worked out but good work man! Loved the video, and you goofing and waiving at the camera while you were under the pond liner was one of my favorite moments of the video!! :)
Nice job, man. You know what I did was instead of reeling, you can put in a flow pump and move the water. That way, you can do multiple baits at once. Nice job. Mark
You might want to coat that lid to prevent mold because that lid is going to get moist from the water vapour
And the exposed wood near the top, just a few coats of spar varnish would protect it.
He said it was green treated but idk if it will help the mold or not
@@robflook96 no it won’t timber is treated for termites and such not mould
Safety: Since you got little ones, it doesn't hurt to put a lock on it.
A little bleach just a cap full would also be a good idea

agreed i would suggest the lights be pointed to a horizontal direction.
After watching your channel for a few years and watching this video, I have just realized I actually enjoy watching paint dry.
I agree! I’ve been watching his videos for a long time as well and your comment brought me to the same realization 🤣
Very nice build Nate! You are the only person I can think of who ever built wooden baits, a wooden reel, and now a wooden pond.
It's ofishal you can now fish inside!
You should turn of light from above to avoid reflections or buy a polarized filter for your camera or do both. That we can have a better look to your tank.
Ps: Great job! ;)
I was thinking the same, but I think it was the window
Though I would say some LED strips right below the water would do some great lighting
Polarized filter would be perfect here
YES!! It's About Time!!!! Awesome Stuff!!!!
As someone who takes great pride in my carpentry skills I'm honestly jealous of your precision on your drilling and cutting near perfect every time. Good to see Chip, and that he’s out of the strawberries! Love it, super supported and treated for lifetime use.
Strawberries ain't in season yet. He's biding his time & plotting his attacks.
More Chip please!
Stoked about the future use of the build
maybe a pump for a stream simulator
Just a thought you probably already thought of but like a question never asked, so I suggested 🤷♂️🤷♂️

Hearing the sped up music in the background makes these videos 20x better
You might want to make a selection of test hooks that are well dulled and rounded to avoid scratches.
Hey mate, put a gopro in the tank at each end and on the side, put the side view on superview and 120fps. And the end cameras on narrow and 60fps so we can see the actions from under the water! A rubber floor mat for the back wall, maybe a little bit of aquarium rocks and plastic folliage for that little bit extra.
Love it!
Nice work! You are going to get a lot of use from that tank.
Have you ever made a lure that looks like your shepard? I know you made a chipmunk once, and a few other non fish lures, I think a tribute lure for your dog would be awesome.
I suggested one a few months ago! I said he needed to make one of chip!
I'm pretty sure he's already received a lure of Chip
FINALLY!!!!! I have been asking for a test tank for sooooooooo long. Your subscribers will thank you for it!
Nicely done! Truly Professional Bait Master.
I love the test tank! An underwater camera angle might be interesting!
With microphone
@@darylp4766 I like it, you could hear thr rattles of some of the internal bearings!
I'm jealous of your new testing tank! You might consider a filtration system for the water long-term. That's gonna be a bummer if all that water goes bad. Thanks for all the great videos!

Throw a simple lock on it, kids are very curious! Also a drainage hole! Love the different build video, this channel never gets boring
13:48 His head was found in a drivin wheel but his body never was found. MY GIRL, MY GIRL. Awesome song in the background and great build man!🤘
Can't wait till you install the LED's on the inside :)
You should put together a video on the tools you use and what you would recommend picking up for people to get into this hobby! Love your content!

I have never been properly fishing in my entire life and here I am taking notes on “the rear end action” of a heavier swim bait. Great video
As soon as I saw him breaking out the epoxy, I was worried he wouldn't install a drain line/plug/hole. Pumps work wonders :)
Pump or siphon
Not really a sump pump and garden hose would drain it mostly in few minutes
My son and I watch you every night before bed. Huge fans. May I suggest a lock for the lid for your little one running around….. they find a way into everything. Keep up the great work.

19:26 you should use snap, the knot keeps the lure tight.
What a journey! The tank looks amazing! Good idea on the lid! That'll hopefully keep the kiddos from playing in it too!
Yes, great job. Though I would also recommend some type of lock at least until the kids get a little older.
You made a perfect tank for testing your baits,, great job
Nice job with the blue paint 🔥
This is awesome! Can’t wait to see new tests!
Very fun build! I think you may end up wanting to install some kind of drainage valve so you can drain it for cleaning and what not. You could also get a fish tank filter and run it continuously to keep everything fresh in there.
That’s a hell of test tank man that’s awesome. Throw some LED light down the inside under the water to really showcase your baits.

Was actually watching your paddlefish lure post again, amazing paint job as always.
THAT IS AWESOME! love your channel... Keep on Keeping On!
This made my week Nate and its only Tuesday, great stuff.
I'd love to see a compilation of just all of your lures being tested. my cat enjoys watching the baits swim.
awesome! love the process, and being able to test indoors is very convenient
Thanks for showing the bait marling, glad you liked it 💪

Smart with testing on an ice rod! That's what i use when I use my bath tub to test baits.

Awesome cold water plunge tank if need be!. Cool vid

Those FOF baits have awesome action
all of the lures are perfect...nice..
Get some fish in that bad boy hahah joking looks good!!

Trens de Pesca - Brasil - Ficou muito bom o trabalho!

That's a great upgrade for your shop! Nicely done :D
6:06 had me laughing alot 😆 🤣. The whaooohah that didn't move.
be nice to have when the summer hits , make lures and a quick dip
Love the tank and shop it look great
Oh my God! Congratulations! Been waiting for this. It's official.
when you first showed it on instagram I tought it was a giant mold... maybe a future project
Nice tank great content as usual.
I'm sure it's been said and/or you've already thought it but a GoPro in the tank to get an underwater view... Super cool non the less.. 👍👍
You should start putting a gopro underwater for shots of your baits too, think that would look cool in the new tank. Love the video!
Nice job, man. You know what I did was instead of reeling, you can put in a flow pump and move the water. That way, you can do multiple baits at once. Nice job. Mark
love watching different lures in action. crazy if you could make a plexi glass or glass window under the water line to get another view :D
Great job on the test tank! Very cool!😎👍
