I know they are different but do you recommend XY over OP1 Field to make full songs, DAWless? Sampler options, fx and instruments quality seems better on OP1, sequencer or tape it’s the great question for me.
Where the OP1 shines, for me, is the four track digital tape. But otherwise, the XY looks to be a better buy. It has a song arranger mode and scenes. Many people find this method of making songs easier/better than a linear style of song making. Also, to my ears (listening to the XY on YT) the synths on the XY sound better than the OP1f. Either way, you'll end up with a very fun and creative machine.
For me I think the XY will appeal or prove more useful to a wider audience than the OP-1 (which I had and loved). I’d ask myself, do you want to make music based on midi with performance features, or do you want a more straightforward linear audio recording workflow?

The MPC workflow is a pain for me. Yes it does auto multisample, but the rest is horrible. The phone jack on the MPC one is broken on most devices. The OS is a bug fest. And overall its a very different approach then a OP XY. The "Step Sequencer" on the MPC is a joke really. The touch screen works sometimes and sometimes not. It is a really cheap device. If you want to save money and except the flaws then its ok. The OP XY just came out and will get improved with updates pretty quick. The MPC is out for many years and still sucks.
I use the MPC one only to sequence modular gear because it has the cv outs. As a Midi to CV interface basically. I had a MPC 2500. 20 years ago or so. For the time it was great. Everything that came after that was a disappointment. The TE machines look kind of weird and yes, sometimes toy like. But everytime I use them I am surprised how fast, logic and flexible they are without bring complicated. And the sound quality is above anything else. The OP-1 field and the OP XY run on 32 bit floating which means almost unlimited dynamic range. Way ahead of anything else right now. And the internal midi resolution of 1920 ppqn of the OP XY is better than any computer/daw setup. And yes all that costs more. Can't be done cheap. That's just my personal observation and experience.
Truly I’m always amazed by people who order something they aren’t informed enough about to be secure in their order, THEN do the research on what they’re buying, and then go online to publicly signal that they have both poor impulse control and can’t be bothered to know whether they actually need something before they buy it. People complain about TE being an overpriced boutique brand and yadda yadda, like the synth bro audience that cultivated itself around them isn’t to blame. Here’s your culprit, friends. Here’s the people who will drop a bunch of money on equipment when they don’t even know how it works, get disappointed about some individual workflow aspect before they’ve even received it, and then cancel the order (if they even really made it to begin with) and act like that’s some kind of bold statement to make. Read it, remember it. I’m sorry to rag on you in particular, but this is exactly where this reputation comes from, not from a company making a thing at a price.
Hello my friend, if you’re referring to the whole Scott’s Synths drama, he took the video down since it was full of mistaken info. Florian himself has clarified it in multiple comments across multiple videos that he did not get a copyright strike for showcasing samples nor for criticizing a product, but rather he posted TE’s promo video with the original audio and some monty python clips spliced in. Thanks very much for watching🙌🏻
Idk, I see a lottt more TE rage in the comments more than anything. I’m not super into the XY, I think it’s sort of an underwhelming device albeit in a beautiful form factor. But I love TE products, and many are on my wishlist: the OB-4 is one of my top 5 purchases I’ve ever made
@@MidlifeSynthesistit’s not necesarily hate of TE when someone considers it to be underwhelming for the price. And I love grooveboxes! Considering a product overpriced for what it can do isn’t the same as being sour for not being able to afford it. Quirky animations and lovely materials don’t make up for having an inferior song / scene launching mode to a $300 Seqtrak. The built in synths are a joke compared to what You get on an MPC and sampling, sequencing is better on a Digitakt. Yet You can buy all three and still have 400 bucks left over before You reach OPXY price. I’ve watched all Your OP-XZ videos and the ones by Ricky and through most of them I see so many silly limitations and weird workflow choices, which are diappointing at $500 on the op-z, but You kind of treat it as a cool yet limited and quirky pocket idea notebook, but at 2300 they’re just a dealbreaker. I own a Seqtrak and an MPC, and then I watch these videos and eyeroll at this thing not having the option to launch a different clip after playing the bar to the end or not being able to make accurate reliable tape effects when live performing.

Order canceled 😎👌
More for me
One XY life is saved! 😊
Hmmm. If I were you I’d look very carefully into who owns and controls your content when it comes to this company.
He’s fine, unless I missed some video?
Hmmm, if I were you I’d check my facts weren’t clickbait by content creators slighted at not receiving their free hardware
Sell it or give it for free and free yourself from this disastrous teenager's toy. Time to grow up.
It doesn't matter because the fanboys will still buy it. They will always drink the Koolaid.
I don’t understand the problem, what’s wrong with someone spending money on something they like?🤷🏻♂️
Idk, I see a lottt more TE rage in the comments more than anything.
