Forget the respect 'he's Down, he know's what's up"...that's why he even called out George Clooney as a 'lil Bitch'. He 'hit' of in what I grew up in (East Los, the 20's partying, hanging with the homeboyz) and in Jim's character (early of my HOBK 04 career 😉). Once De Dniro and Pacino are done, he'll be a king.
@Julie Queen I don’t care about the on set rant... shit happens, he apologized, life goes on. But there is nothing more deluded and arrogant as saying “he was in character”. Come on! He admitted he was wrong so why are people using that bs excuse?
He really wanted Ethan Hawkes role in Training Day. He was promised he'd get something for himself in time. And this is the result. Great role, great actor. Very difficult character to play completely did.t expect him to nail it. But he %100 did .
I'm glad he didn't get that role ...he is too dominant of a character...Ethan has a less intimidating character and that's what makes him getting the cast better.
@@engell3707 I wouldn't say soft but definitely less aggressive than Christian Bale. Ethan Hawks roles can be just as savage, his characters in Good Kill and The Purge are COLD, he only cares about his own safety and doesn't care if others die
Can't beleive how different he is, I can't even work out his accent but even that was put on in the film. Guy plays a rudeboy/gangster type character ridiculously good man
This is my favorite movie of all time, after spending seven years in the military, I know firsthand that it he experience does take a toll on you mentally and Bale did an awesome job portraying that. Bale is one of the very best, very professional and takes his job seriously, I don't think there is a role that Bale couldn't play. IMO he should've had Ethan Hawke's character in Brooklyn's Finest.
Yep. Before I became 'Blue" - it was seeing myself all over again in what I dealt with in getting in (but the Homeboyz, hanging, lengo what shit ass on the spot too).
thank you Christian for making this movie. I know you will never read this but still, I need to say thank you for making this movie. Your character was spot on for someone battling ptsd. Not all of us can do all of that and walk away clean. Most of us deal with the trama for the rest of our lives...
+bordone his bullshit accent in this movie is embarrassing, such a terrible performance, you obviously just love bale ,this was the worst acting i have seen
+therobbieunited everyones perception and opinion of things is different, I think this guy was more appreciative of the fact that there's a film that highlights that PTSD is a real thing that lots of ex service men and women suffer with it and that after wars are over, that the veterans don't all go home and play happy families rather than anything to do with cinematic craftsmanship. (not wanting to put words in your mouth bordone, that was just what I got from your comment)
I grew up in Chicago, Little Village, Humboldt Park in 90's and early 2000's. I was able to get out and when I saw this movie i thought it was dopest thing ever made. Now as a 39 year old Man....honestly ITS VERY HARD FOR ME TO WACTH. It makes me think about the choices my friends made and the ones that are no longer here with me due to bad choices and gangs. Probably one of the smartest men in my generation in terms of acting and prep and choosing what stories he wants to be a part of. #RIP #RIPBESTIE #RIPBESTFRIEND #MooMOo
I love this movie..must have watched it more than 10x. Even purchased the DVD Hats! LOL Hats off to Christian Bale for the phenomenal acting job! 👏 Especially when you hear him speak when doing an interview in his REAL voice.
I think hes underrated in this role because people that arent from the dirtier parts of socal don't know how believable he is in it. Its not an easy role and hes not even american.
Christian Bale is an incredible actor. He owned this part and I was of the opinion his interpretation of a soldier suffering with PTS was strikingly familiar. 👏
I can relate to his character in this, coming home fucking sucks, I wanted to go back, the flashbacks were glorified a bit, but somewhat close to the rage and chaos that comes with combat. Great movie.
@aaronrocs. I don't think that Jim Davis is from South Central. He is immersed in the Chicano culture, so I think (though I'm not sure) that he grew up with Mike (Rodriguez's character) in East L.A., which is predominantly Hispanic. Also, due to his military training, he has a demeanor about him that is different from your average street guy, though he obviously still has a foot in that world.
Exactly, spend enough time anywhere and you will start to resemble the surroundings, in this case.....Chicano and military haha im a fan of the blend although jim davis was nuts after combat
Loved this movie its underrated and as much as I loved training day, I feel this film was better and so much darker. On a light note the interviewer has the funniest last name. Harshbarger I would assume she barges in quite harsh? Lol what a weird name
"you never put your own money in the movies " it worked out nice for Mel Gibson and The Passion of The Christ. Everybody he pitched it to wanted nothing to do with it,then he financed himself and it was a box office hit !!
Nor should there be. Why do people not understand the actor is not the character? Anyway he did not just play Batman he also played Bruce Wayne those are like 2 different characters themselves the superhero is an alter ego.
Bales characters are probably like alter egos for him in a way too. Are people ignorant enough to believe Christian actually is a superhero or psycho etc. Just because he can speak like an American does not mean he IS an American. Some interviews sound strange as if they are not interested in who he actually is.
I agree with you. He actually plays three characters in the Batman movies. One, the Fake "Eccentric, Playboy, Billionaire" Bruce Wayne that for instance shows up to events with at least two women at a time, buys hotels on a whim seemingly because he's been asked to leave and that absconds with the entire ballet company on a cruise - very pompous", two, the REAL Bruce Wayne that he is with Rachel, Alfred, and Fox and of course Batman an entity that has it's own voice. Which is why he uses it EVEN when he's with people who know who he is as well as whe i.e.n he is alone "so that's what that feels like" comment when Selina and Batman are on the roof and she disappears. As long as the cowl is on, so is the voice. Having said that, I kind of see what the interviewer was saying... the FAKE Bruce Wayne does remind me of Patrick Bateman. Now if he kept on taking similar roles, you would likely start to feel like he was playing the same character. But Mr. Bale has obviously taken different types of roles that allow him to show his range. One of his movies that I just saw recently bis Out of The Furnace. I've never seen him in that type of role before - just as I had never seen him in this type of role before. The closest example of the situation that this interviewer is probably talking about is Steven Seagal. Not even on the same planet as Christian Bale in terms of acting OBVIOUSLY. But if you've ever seen any of Seagal's movies, he's playing the same character over and over again. The attitude, the body language, the speech pattern, it is ALL the same with Seagal. Just the opposite with Mr. Bale happy to say. His range is RIDICULOUSLY varied.
I agree with everyone. SUCH AN UNDERRATED MOVIE. This was released in EU but not US? Anyone know why or the reason. I never heard of it during this time (2006)
after batman no one can touch batman till this day ...he got enough cash to throw at these films on the side kick ass motherfucker is a good actor were not worthy were not worthy
being from East LA it's crazy to see a foreign dude play a white boy from the barrio, fucking amazing role
Yep, same here per my post.
It's a brilliant and very underrated film. Bale was superb and he absolutely got his character.
Absolutely. I saw it in theatres. Intense.
Hell yah.
For sure ..he was next level PTSD in that role man.
All-the-way-around - the script, direction, acting.....BADASS!!! ❤
his respect and understanding of Chicano culture is quite impressive.
It really waa shocking how well he played that role, esp being from overseas drinking tea
