Sounds like prior art to me. In patent law, prior art is any information that is publicly available before an invention is claimed. It can include anything that shows an idea is not new, such as:
    Patents
Articles from trade or scholarly publications
    Conference presentations
    Existing products
    Websites
    Catalog advertisements

@@KaizenDIYGym respectfully, /very/ short-sighted. 2 companies could have easily divided costs, got a small business loan, amortized the cost over time, and then funded cost recovery through pre-sales/reservations. Now it's going to cost way more to try to prosecute prior invention with historical evidence.
Nonetheless, this whole situation is infuriating. I say declare war, rally the community, ally-up with other companies and firms, raise funds, and get legal expert to pursue corrective action.

I wanted the Vendettas but was always missing the ordering window. Looks to me like PRX needs to go back and better refine those a bit. Especially for that crazy price. Kinda hard to claim PRX's lever arms are a rip-off when the Vendetta and Gympin products are add-on adapters for existing lever arms and the PRX Halos are a complete one-piece solution. I get being annoyed about it, but you didn't patent it and you didn't offer a complete lever-arm, so I'm not really sure what you were expecting to happen. It was only a matter of time before one of the big companies did this, and the PRX Halos are reasonably price competitive when considering getting something like the Rogue Trolley lever arms with both adapters.
Again, I get the frustration, but this was going to happen without a patent and you had to expected it.

I am the Director of Programming for ViPR PRO and we experienced all kinds of rip offs and shady business practices by companies and distributors. PRX should be ashamed of themselves. I won the Vendetta adapters and they are awesome. It has definitely made my Sorinex Jammer arms more functional. Speaking of Sorinex… how many products have they invented that have been ripped off? I am sitting on an invention that I have never brought out because of this nonsense. Would love chatting with you about your experiences. Sorry you went through this brother.

I have no intention of buying from PRx, $1,500 is stupid and that's after they were talked down from a higher price point. Read the comments from Coop's review and it's clear PRx missed the boat. They didn't even roll out with the pulley feature they showcased in an earlier video and that's what people who have cable systems were excited about.
But this is an all in one set-up, there are no adapters or having to pick a specific set of arms to fit your rack model. Personally I see more in common with PRx and Crandall Fitness or Griffin 2.0 (and Crandall is half the price).
I hear Vendetta is releasing their all-in-one converging/adjustable arms but I'm hoping they fix their production issues and can keep up with demand. Bulletproof is getting ready to release their new arms as well. I keep reading comments that REP is working on their ISO Arms 2.0 but I'll believe it when I see it, however if they can design something that complements their Ares 2.0 cable system then shut up and take my money.
I still haven't found arms that check all the boxes. I like how Legend Fitness you can swivel their arms 180 degrees so they're out of the way but they only have a vertical plane of movement. Any arms with a trollley are a PITA to remove so you have to keep them on full time. But if you have a cable system then that can be PITA to deal with (which is why I liked that pulley option PRx featured).

Very scummy! Fwiw, I believe REP was the first to make lockable jammer arms that locked in multiple positions. They only had a few positions, but vendetta essentially took the concept and added more holes.

Hey Man, first thing you should've done back when you made them out of wood was get it patented. Whatever you had to do to ge a patent on your design, you really should've done it, before you told anyone, even your family members about them.

I have to say I’m conflicted here.
Genuine question- I remember seeing posts on the home gym FB group of Crandall Fitness lever arms that had settable start points (like the Vendettas) and angle of rotation (like the GymPins) but there wasn’t the same pushback then. Why is that? You also cite the BoS instance with the selectable starting angles. The Straydog GOAT is also similar. This isn’t meant as a defense of PRX’s actions here, but the inconsistency of community discussion / outrage when these things happen probably feeds into how ideas propagate throughout all the different brands.
Totally empathize why you’d be pissed at PRX, especially given the previous interactions. That said, the industry is rife with cases where the home gym community isn’t consistent about when it gets up in arms and raising pitchforks about derivative design. Someone else commented about Sorinex Bulldog pads. Shouldn’t we similarly be pissed about the Bells of Steel Seal Row pad then? Or the Exponent Edge version? There’s more of those types of benches out there that simply slip my mind, but I don’t see how that instance is entirely different. The dynamics of small players vs big players is different, but the notion of derivative / stolen ideas feels the same to me at first blush.

    • @KaizenDIYGym
      @KaizenDIYGym  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

I totally understand where you're coming from. I can't speak for the entire community but I can share my perspective.
The Crandall Arms utilize an entirely different mechanism. Similar functionality but completely different engineering to get there. That doesn't bother me.
Straydog did rip me off and then sent a photo telling me they were about to launch a product that I inspired (the alpha arms). We had some back and forth, they declined to work out a royalty deal. I was pissed and I did mention it on the socials. Eventually I just let it go. I am just a one man show and don't have the funds to fight this stuff in court.
As for the bulldog pad and other similar equipment, that's not my fight.
I made this video because it was pretty obvious what PRX did. In the video the guy says they incorporated what everyone else was doing aftermarket and patented it.
It's not illegal, it's just sharky and the community has a right to know so they can use that information when choosing which companies to support.

Not a shot at you personally, I like your channel and your ingenuity but I think this design is a fairly intuitive update to trolley arms that consumers were interested in for a long time. In the gym equipment space I think it’s fair to say that if you don’t patent an idea, assume someone will either patent it themselves or just start making their own version of it. I also think there are a lot of people that don’t want to buy three separate pieces of equipment to make this work so it’s simpler for them.
