- This is the third video from our Rarotonga, Cook Island series! The Cook Islands is one of the world's smallest countries. This gem in the South Pacific is popular with Kiwi and Aussie travellers and with good reason- it's tropical, easy to get around and fish is in abundance! We spend 10 days on the island exploring the local food and the best eats to hit up when you visit. From the nation's iconic dish- ika mata (raw fish salad) to real fruit ice creams using local fruit like soursop and passionfruit to the best cafes and cheap eats on the island. Stay tuned for some epic Cook Island food!
What we ate and where we ate it:
1. The Falafel Shack, Ara Tapu Rarotonga, Arorangi District, Cook Islands. Open Wednesday to Friday 12-3pm and 5-7pm and Sunday 12-7pm. Cash Only. Chicken doner kebab $16, Fish iskender $28, falafel balls $2.50 each, chicken skewers $4
2. Rarotonga Brewery, ARORANGI, RAROTONGA, Cook Islands. Open Monday to Saturday 10am-6pm. Lager $12 per litre
3. Soul Cafe & Barber, Tupapa Maraerenga, Avarua, Cook Islands. Open 7am to 2pm Monday to Friday and 7am-1pm on Saturday. Mince, cheese & rukau pie $6- the pies sell out really quick so make sure you pop in early!

@ChasingaPlate Well, I baked a spicy steak and potato pie from scratch today. It was so good my mum came over and destroyed two slices.
Good work guys. Massive fan. Another 2 locations for us to check out in September. I wish you had experienced Moorings Cage pre covid as it used to be on the beach too like the falafel shack. It just elevated the experience so much.

The pies are delicious, we'll definitely go back for another before leaving the Island and the price is great. Dona kebabs are OK, nothing to rave about and I feel shouldn't cost anymore then $16, that was a been there tried that, next, for us.
