  • In this episode of Urban Exploring, I will be taking you for a tour through this beautiful retro 1970's era bungalow, which is abandoned, and located right in one of the busiest parts of the city. This house belongs to a small stretch of homes that are also slated to be demolished and re-developed into multi family dwellings in the near future. Inside, you will find a beautiful family home, that was well taken care of, retains much of its original 1970's charm with some modernizations over the years, including some INTERESTING wallpaper choices. The best part of this home, is the incredible sunroom addition, so you don't want to miss this one! Join me for a last look at this beautiful home!

    Rewatched after a fun livechat.
    This one gets a name also, by it's exterior I'll call it "The Leave it to Beaver House".
    Belive it or not I sincerely belive this one originally dates back to the 1950's with updates in different places at different times. I belive there were plans for a partial or full finish for the second floor judging by the finished stairs to get there, why not just have a trap door?
    Thanks for the tour Greg!
    👍🤠
    Notes:
    1:21 Judging by the exterior brickwork this house looks to be old as the mid 50's.
    4:13 Original older looking door knob and lock, door and doorway including the glass block.
    10:21 Originally a bath sink vanity split in the middle to fit the sanitary tub.
    23:25 Original 50's style cast iron tub, never replaced probably due to it's excessive weight. The house I grew up in had an identical one, that house was built in 1954.
    27:01 Early 60's light fixture.

      I actually wondered if the house was older but some of the details seem to be stuck in the '70s. And everything else seem to be modernized a little bit. But you're right that railing does kind of scream a different era doesn't it. And the brickwork also. I think you have some good points there. I'm also going to pin this so everybody else can enjoy it! Thank you for being there as always John, I appreciate your viewership and comments, and everything you say in the chats. I'm really glad you enjoyed this one.

    Looks more like a mid to late 60s style. That decorative wooden lattice, dividing rooms and even used on staircase landings was common in that era. People would put knick-knacks, vases, plants on them. Sometimes they also used wrought iron scrolling poles and posts like on porches. Brings back lot of childhood memories visiting my relatives.

    • @UncappedFilms
      @UncappedFilms  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah a few people in the chat said that during the video but there seem to be plans or something there that said 1978. I didn't see them myself so I can't verify that 100%. Perhaps they were trying to keep that old feel though when they built the house. I wish I had looked myself so I knew. I love all those little features and I always enjoying those memories come back like that. Thanks for checking this out and leaving a couple comments I appreciate it

    Hi Greg, a beautiful and cozy house. It looks bigger from the inside than from the outside. I like those crystal knobs on the doors, I've never seen those here in Germany, in older houses. Such a shame that the basement is flooded, the bar area is really nice, it invites you to party.... except for the footbath.😉 My favorite of the whole house was the sun room, super nice. Thanks for another fantastic exploration and video, Greg. 👍😊

    In this video you say it is weird to have the laundry room in the middle of the house. Not weird at all. You can have the laundry anywhere you desire. I've built them for customers on the second floor and in the basement. It's up to the customer. This home may have a sump which would not be working if the electricity was disconnected. Therefore flooded basement.

    • @UncappedFilms
      @UncappedFilms  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It just felt weird to me. I'm used to it on the first floor, usually near some kind of exit. I've seen them on the second floor, I even find that slightly odd lol. But yes you're right it doesn't really matter. I just never have seen one like that in the middle of the house before. It's weird to me lol!
