    Even if takes longer, I prefer to get up and move constatly. Don't like to be sitting or standing all the time.
    Love your tutorials even if this is a twins birth without Epidural!!!!!
    BTW, this is my second NYB. I made the other one about 4 yrs ago.

    Great videos! I did some quilting years ago, but now I find myself returning to it - with an ambitious idea to do a Mariners Compass. So I started looking at videos on how to do it, and yours are the best!! Wow - this paper piecing technique is so precise and you make it look so manageable and possible for even a novice. I am looking forward to seeing more on your You Tube channel. Thanks so much, Virginia from Toronto, Ontario.

    I have just finished paper foundation piecing Dear Jane, and what a learning experience in paper piecing! But I see there are still more tips and tricks to pick up. I found the adding of 1/8” all the way around very interesting. I think my blocks came out a little short and now I know how to compensate in the future. Also the order for the removal of the paper was worth noting. It can be hard to get out every piece of paper, especially when the pieces are small. Thank you for a very good tutorial.

    If you want a good tiny rotary cutter, these days you can try the new Man Sewing "Shark" Applicutter tool. The blade is even smaller than 28mm (I think it's 14mm), so it can really get into those nooks and crannies. Available (when in stock) at Missouri Star Quilt Company, or Amazon.

    Hi Nancy and Gina, got the pattern, downloaded it, went to the printer to have it enlarged 200 percent. (Sure looks big, does not look that big when I watch you.). Any way , I did not see the 1/8" fudge factor on the bottom of template E. I added it, cut the pattern out, but I can cut it off if I did that wrong. Thanks for all the effort you put in to get this pattern to me. Gina is a hoot and you are hilarious on your out takes. Love you guys. KB

  • @laurenandlilly

    Thanks for the info. Just so you know, there's an option in EQ to print the block with a user specified seam allowance. You can change that to .325 so you don't need to draw in that extra 1/8"

    • @QuiltingWithNancy
      @QuiltingWithNancy  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Lauren - great suggestion, but I think that would add the extra allowance around all the templates and for my technique you only add it to the outside perimeter of the template pieces, not the internal seams. Would love to know if you figure out how to make it just on the outside though :)

    Ironing on ur cutting mat, even jut a quicky, can 100% mess up ur mat. I even had a thick padding down and just used the tip of my iron to press a couple seams and it bowed my cutting mat. I've tried lying heavy books ad stuff on it to flatten it back down but it won't fatten

    • @QuiltingWithNancy

      Hi Lovey - When i am doing the pressing for paper piecing i always do it this way and not issues but don't risk it if you don't want to :) and you are correct, they are impossible to fix but i have taken a bent one and cut out the flat part and then had a smaller mat - Nancy

    The finger pressing is tough on the finger buuuuut think about guitar players, they have a pick that looks like a brass curved fingernail. It slides over any finger. If you slide it on whatever finger you use, so the curve is going up, there you go, finger pressed better than with your tired finger. Try it, doesn’t cost much in all your better guitar pick’n stores.

      Hello Adela - thanks for watching - not sure about the parchment paper, i guess it comes down to if you can make a photo copy on it? if not you could duplicate the pattern using your sewing machine the way i show in the "Free Style NYB" videos. In The Free Style I use Freezer Paper.
