    What a clever method! No wastebof paper and you can print your paper in color so that you won’t make a mistake during the process. With this method, you have more the feeling of having the final block in hands in stead of a stranger mix paper/fabric. I will definitely give it a go for my next project! 👍🏻🫶🏻

      When I saw this method I thought the same thing. That is way I had to share it. The color is for the different sections. You still have to go by the numbers. The colors do help with seeing the pattern a bit better. I am glad that you will give this a try.

    Thank you for showing this. But I have a question: how can it still be a 1/2 inch seam, if you stitch on it? Would this method not make the picture larger than planned? How can a stitch in the ditch foot help with this? Will it not gather the fabric underneath the foot? I need to experiment. Thank you for.

    • @MadMoodyQuiltingFabrics
      @MadMoodyQuiltingFabrics  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The pattern is finished size. The lines on the pattern are the stitching line you fold the paper on those lines and you will use an add 1/4 inch ruler to add your seam allowances. You keep the paper folded back and I use a foot that has a guide or a mark that will indicate the needle position. You are sewing just beside the paper that is still folded back in the same place as if you are sewing through the paper. There would be no gathering of the fabric. It’s as if you are doing regular patchwork with your machine. I hope this helps.

    You said to use a water resistant glue, if your wax on the freezer paper doesn't stick, I would think you want a water soluble glue so you can get it off, not a water resistant since that would be more permanent. From how I understand glues.

    Thank you. I have been wanting to learn this sewing technique and your directions make it seem so easy. Question, do you print the pattern on the freezer paper?

      Yes I print onto the freezer paper I think I did a video about how I print my patterns.

    ❤️ your video but I was wondering how the freezer paper worked through the printer.

    • @MadMoodyQuiltingFabrics
      @MadMoodyQuiltingFabrics  ปีที่แล้ว

      I put one sheet through the Printer at a time. I also do two or maybe three back to back and then I let the printer cool down a little before I do more.

      I cut mine from the roll that I have. I cut to fit my printer. I also cut a few days earlier and put them in a plastic sleeve and let them flatten out before I use them in the printer. I hope that this helps. If you have not yet you can buy the little houses for free from my website.

    Loved your video! How do you get your freezer paper with the pattern on it to stick? Do you just spray the paper with a temporary adhesive?

    • @MadMoodyQuiltingFabrics
      @MadMoodyQuiltingFabrics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The paper that I am using is freezer paper one side has a plastic like finish that is shiny and when you iron it to the fabric it will stick to the fabric but when you Peel it off it will not leave anything on the fabric. It great.

    Where did you get your Stitch in the ditch with a guide sewing foot? I have an older brother sewing/quilting machine

    • @MadMoodyQuiltingFabrics
      @MadMoodyQuiltingFabrics  ปีที่แล้ว

      Mine came with my machine. You to your brother dealer and ask them if this foot is available for your machine. I think that the name of the foot is a 1/4 inch foot. Just make sure it has a guide on it.

    So how do you get your pattern onto freezer paper? Won't the heat of the copier remove the stickiness from the freezer paper???

    • @MadMoodyQuiltingFabrics
      @MadMoodyQuiltingFabrics  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did a video explaining how I get the pattern onto freezer papers. I just use my printer. Cut the freezer paper to fit your printer trey and then you can print or copy the pattern.

  • @lbluebird342

    Can u just reapply a new piece of freezer paper instead of using glue stick? I would think the glue stick might discolor the fabric since it's not washed out before machine quilting or even RUIN the needles sewing & machine quilting. I don't know because I've never done it this way..... I tear off the paper. And if I need the pattern again, I make more photo copies of the pattern. Your way is faster, of course!! Great work!!! This is just a question. Thanks. L :)

    • @MadMoodyQuiltingFabrics
      @MadMoodyQuiltingFabrics  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can reprint your pattern as many times as you need if you do not what to use a glue stick then you will be using more freezer paper. When I use a glue stick the brand I use is sewline it will not yellow or discolor your fabric and it will wash out with water.

    What exactly is freezer paper that has glue on it? Where do you buy it at?

    • @MadMoodyQuiltingFabrics
      @MadMoodyQuiltingFabrics  ปีที่แล้ว

      Freezer paper is a paper with one side that has a shiny side that will stick to your fabric when you put an iron to it. You can buy it from you local quilt shop. I also use freezer paper to do appliqué with.

  • @laurence9695

    You so don't need the freezer paper!!! Just a small pin will do and work just fine. Freezer paper is really thick and stiff and will be very hard to remove. I've never seen this method, and I think it's insane.

    • @MadMoodyQuiltingFabrics
      @MadMoodyQuiltingFabrics  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This method you need the freezer paper to stick the fabric too. It is very easy to remove the paper because you are not sewing through the paper. Give it a try you may like

    Why do you have to give your personal information in order to download a free pattern? I am interested in the little house and tree pattern but since these patterns are supposedly FREE, one should be allowed to download by simply adding a first name and email like all other site. Please reply, thank you. Maybe I am doing it wrong?
