You guys picked a beauty this time. The whole Sierra de Grazalema area is one of my favourite places on earth. I love places like Los Hurones, San Jose de Valle and Ubrique. The mountain roads around there are just fantastic riding, and normallly with very little traffic. The food is amazingly fresh and locally sought. Really nice film and I like the old style of presentation (not sure what the word is). Nice tour of the 2 villages. I toured down that way a couple of years ago and rode the Grazelama to Zaharra road. I liked it but I think I was expecting too much after all the hype about it in the magazines. I much preferred the road east out of Ronda to El Burgo, Yunquera and Alozaina. It was 36-38 degrees for most of my time down there and I was pining for the cool of the Pyrenees :-). Can't see me going that far south again because of the heat and I actually think they have better roads in the northern half of the country. Just my opinion after riding over there for a few consecutive summers. What do you think?
@@stevedavison7392 Thanks 🙏 for that . I hadn’t heard of the Zahara road until the night before so was not overly hyped . It was definitely a cool road , but the road from Ronda down to the coast holds a charm for me , I’ve not done enough of the North to comment . The rain pushed us out . But I love the heat .. in the 30s I’m well happy . 40 and above I get ill on the bike , we had 40 plus in Sicily no fun . We are going back North next year . You are capturing the true Spain. The motorways and toll roads are okay when you have to get to a destination fast but they don’t get you close to the small towns and villages. The Andalusia region is a living museum. It was a stronghold of the Spanish Republicans during the civil war and after Franco gained total control he virtually annexed Andalusia for decades starving the region of investment and economic development. When I first visited Almeria in the late 70’s, early 80’s there were no motorways and the original roads often finished outside small villages that were virtually cut off to cars. There are still remnants of the old N-340 road near to our home here on which over 5000 people, mainly the old, women and children were massacred by the nationalist forces. The old churches you visit are stunning and yet in the early 80’s it was common to meet old men refusing to enter the Catholic Church because of its sanctioning of ideological social cleansing during the war, which usually involved mass murder as nationalist forces took towns and cities. Spain is an amazing country with a phenomenal culture and history and yet many folk in the UK just know it for its sandy beaches.
@@spudgunson Thanks so much for such a fantastic comment . I’ve read a few books on The Spanish Civil War , written by historians as well as Orwell’s’Homage to Catalonia’ as I am keen on history. What Spain went through in those times was barbaric and beyond awful .. but like many countries in Europe it has so many sad tales to tell . We love the old towns and villages . The people too are always so welcoming. So many of my favourite books are set in Spain including ‘The sun also rises’ - ‘For whom The Bell Tolls’ (Which I think of every time I visit Ronda.) The pages on those old books having longing to be able to travel back to the older Spain , alas . But going to the tiny villages you get a taste : It brings me joy . Our best wishes , Thanks again for such a fascinating comment .
Not in English . Zed is a fictional character who tries to have his wicked way with Butch (another fictional character played by Bruce Willis) Zed fails with that but is successful with marcellus wallace (again another fictional character) … I say successful lightly as he is soon taken punished for his sins by Butch and then again by two hard hitting work associates of marcellus wallace… So as you can see … ‘Zed’ is just Pulp Fiction (books about imaginary characters and events, produced in large quantities and intended to be read by many people but not considered to be of very good quality)
