- So today I thought we would take a look at the lore of Jessie and James from pokemon. They recently came to Pokemon masters so it only made sense to talk about their history and the lore behind them. They also just released in Pokemon Masters & Pokemon GO. So that is why today we take a look at jessie and james explained, in this series I try to talk about the Pokemon Lore, specificly the Pokemon Character Lore Explained for Jessie and James Team Rocket. Being that Pokemon Team Rocket is a subject matter I love. So for all of you Team Rocket fans and Jessie james fans here is the video you have waited for. Pokemon Team Rocket.

Jessie and James are characters you relate or grow fond of as you get older.
I hated them as a child; now as an adult, I actually like them and root for them.

Jessie and James didn't became friends and then joined Team Rocket. They met while they were training to become Team Rocket memebers, and because Jessie needed a partner to pass, her instructor made her work along James almost against her will.

The anime is a little contradictory but it seems they met at Pokémon Tech...flunked out together...then joined a bike gang...had an unexplained parting of ways and then eventually reunited at Team Rocket where they've stuck together with Meowth ever since

James later becomes a grass type gym leader and Jessie becomes a Pokémon nurse. Their child will later take the wobbuffet from Jessie as his starter Pokémon and go for his own Pokémon journey along with meowth🤣

Makes me wonder what the expected lifespan of a Wobbuffet or a Meowth is.

Jessie has such unique hair because her hair + body pose would make an "R" shape in one of the earlier introductory illustrations. James would also pose where his body would make an "R".
They do that again in the 2 latest seasons. I was happy to see the pose return.

Well yeah mcs are usually supposed to be relatable husk of nothingness. Usually the characters surrounding the mc are interesting. There are some acceptions though and that's just a different style of writing.

I was five when the show came on the air in America and always thought Jessie and James were dating. I don’t know why I thought it. Maybe it’s because I thought they had a similar closeness that my parents had. Either way, I always suspected they were a thing. Good to know I wasn’t alone in thinking that. 🤣

The Electric Tale of Pikachu manga was just all around the best interpretation. So many good character moments.
James could be really strong if he kept his Gyarados, evolved Inkay to it’s fullest, kept his Mareanie and evolved her, and then kept his grass Pokémon all into one team.

I remember watching the anime and knowing they love each other but rarely admit it. And then they get married and have baby in the Manga but the most we get in is them attempting to leave team rocket but always changing their mind. I kept saying just leave, and start your life together in a small town. I always wanted Jessica and James to be happy
I love team rocket ! It would be pretty cool if nintendo used team rocket or Jesse and James to unveil a secret new Pokémon (especially a legendary) kinda like how togepi got revealed or Meltan.
I’ve never really watched Pokemon (now i do) but my siblings have and whenever i did watch it with them I always laughed at team rocket and loved them they are my favourite anime duo

I stopped watching the anime once the gen 5 abomination came out but the only thing I miss from the anime nowadays are Team Rocket bc they're still actually interesting and funny characters. Everyone else is plain, childish and annoying every new region. Love the series too!
The gen 6 (X and Y) anime was actually really good, though. The battles looked great, the animation was improved, they actually portrayed Ash as an experienced trainer who knows what he's doing, etc.
They dumbed him down in Sun and Moon, though.

I hated them when I was younger but grew to respect the Hell out of two pebs who risk their lives every single day just to make sure their Bosses Kid or Twerp stays safe.

Can we have a lore explained for Meowth
Well, meowth was a wild Pokémon in a city, doing wild Pokémon things when he fell in love with a female meowth. The female meowth turns him down saying he isn’t “human enough”. Meowth then observed humans and taught himself how to walk and talk like humans. Having perfected his human speech and 2 legged walking, he finds the female meowth again, only to get turned down again. The female meowth explains that being “more human” meant getting caught by a trainer, not learning how to talk and walk like a human. Meowth, thoroughly heartbroken, leaves the city and gets recruited by Jessie and james
Please watch the Pokémon Chronicles episode _"Training Daze!"_ - that *actually* shows how Jessie, James and Meowth all met through Team Rocket.

13:00 let me just say Dustox being release was the first time the pojemon anime made me cry as a kid. Not even Bye Bye Butterfree made me cry as a kid that is saying something considering that I was a child.
To be fair, Jessie did use Dustox more than Ash used Butterfree
What actually made me cry was that tyranitar that abused them to release their weezing and arbok

I remember that episode where everyone loved Meowth and the two had him playing the act. When he was using Payday (which he did not know) he used all of James' bottle cap collection.
If he DID know Payday, he would be funding all of their flops. They always purchased the most gaudy devices in order to steal Pikachu.

Jessie and James were my fave part of Pokémon and I relayed to them so much. They were my idea of a perfect relationship(friendship/siblings) I never saw them as romantic counter parts and my bi panic was set in. Another really important note about Jessie and James is the adaptation of showing that no matter who or what you are you can wear and act how ever you want(prime example James when he wears the dresses skirts and fake boobs, with Jessie it’s her dressing much more masc often cross dressing men)

I really enjoyed this! I would gladly watch a show based on team Rocket aimed at older audiences...they are all such interesting characters that a rich to explore but don't get it enough. I love their ending in the electric tale of Pikachu and would love them to have that endgame to. Btw one media you left out (but it is Japan only) is Team Rockets secret empire. It's a radio show where Jessie and James do skits and answer questions.
The fact that manga James got down on one knee and popped the ring to manga Jessie and asked her to be his wife, and along the way started a family with Jessie, makes you feel proud for him.
I also like anime James because he's a bro/homie to the main cast over the series from time to time and still being a fun antagonist to love and root for along with anime Jessie, although they did change up the formula in the Black&White part of the anime, where they had to do recon on Team Plasma and find Meloetta and the Mirror that changes the form of Tornadus, Thunderous, and Landorus to their previous forms with Giovanni was kinda spooky.
They just want to take a vacation but they have to catch a cherynoble rat
Don't forget that before team rocket they were in a bicycle gang! That they later returned to briefly
I was born in 1997 and I pokemon all my life to this day i ship them so hard as a kid i thought they were married. I mean look at them there adorable together.

Team Rocket seems to be my style, I even got Team rocket from two quizzes based on the question "Which villainous Pokemon team are you in"
If the Pokemon anime continues with more seasons, I'd really like to see Jessie and James be in a relationship, because they have some chemistry together and it'd be nice to see them happy and married.

I always disliked team rocket because they were the bad guys after pikachu but I always loved their relationship with each other and persistence and my heart melted when I learned Jessie's name on Japanese was Musashi which is a masculine name because my own name is more masculine than feminine in my culture.
James and Jessie remind me of Trixie and Katya and I love it.

I'm glad to know at the end they didn't "retire" like every youtuber wanted to pound into our heads, it was one last fake out until it's reveal that as Ash continued his more personal journey Team Rocket vows to keep going after Pikachu and the Ash's story ends with them still following him.

For the longest time before I finally got to see them together on screen at the same time I actually thought Jessabelle was Jessica and she was just simply forcing James to spend time with her covertly so he'd like her. Until I actually saw an episode with Jessabelle I only heard about her and her uncanny resemblance to Jessica

fun fact : james didn't run into jessie and then become friends. they both grew up and decided to join teamrocket, and in their training, they met and were paired up with eachother. there is an episode called 'training daze' explaining this side of their lives.
training daze is an amazing episode imo, however it doesnt really add up to what the anime tells us I think (like that meowth in the anime has a rivalry with persian because it took his place as Giovanni's favourite, while Giovanni didn't really care for meowth from the very beginning in training daze and tried to get rid of him quickly, or that Jessie and James are top tier trainees (Jessie's literally not been thrown out due to her sucking at being a team player because she was skilled asf and had so much promise) and meet shortly before their final exam(?yk) while theres an episode in the anime where ash and co stumble across this pokémon training school where it's revealed that Jessie and James went to (a similar?) school together and failed like everything if I remember it right, suggesting they've met before they joined team rocket).
I like to consider it canon 'cause I'm emotionally attached but idk if you could actually use it as source?
Except it was from a mini series named "Pokemon Chronicles" which, unfortunately, comes with a number of plot holes and inconsistencies. In the canon show it was established that they knew each other before Team Rocket as they were in Pokemon Tech together and later on were in a bike gang together. Little is known what happened after they left the gang but they ended up joining Team Rocket separately. One could make the assumption they may have had a feud or a fight or something, which lead them to go separate ways and only pretended to not know each other when they were paired up. They certainly didn't start in good terms while in training.

James is rich, but had an AWFUL family life, Jessie had a good family life with her foster mother [Musashi left on an expedition to find Mew, is presumed dead since she never came back, but even before that, she left Jessie in an orphanage because she wanted to follow her career/loyalty to Madame Boss, who basically had Team Rocket be more of a petty criminal organisation than the behemoth it is under Giovanni, who is her son, and very much regretted that during her time in Guyana tracking Mew/before dying, she thought of Jessie and the mistakes she'd made as a parent, this is gone over in detail in the TR radio drama about Mewtwo], but lived in poverty/ate snow.
I don't know how you'd gloss over that, when it was a pretty big plot point and also their main motivation for joining Team Rocket (James to escape his controlling parents and Jessie to escape poverty.)
