    I traded in my 2016 ram 1500 5.7L hemi and cried but wasn’t hauling anything anymore and wanted a sedan. I didn’t want a Chevy,Ford or Chrysler. I wanted a Honda Accord or a Toyota Camry. I went from a fully loaded truck to a base model 2018 Camry. I didn’t think I would like this car but fell in love with. I can’t believe how peppy that I-4 2.5L engine is. This car is a lot of fun to drive.

    • @landdoooo.5
      @landdoooo.5 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@acemany1126 i have some faith in it because of its fuel economy , but it’s reliability and transmission slipping is the real problem , especially the power lag when taking off at first . road noise is insanely loud and infotainment can glitch over times . (my personal reliability issues were a camera malfunction in 3K miles , sensor malfunction in 12K miles and a window malfunction in 34K miles) .I’d say avoid this car if you can as the newer models haven’t been doing well lately .

    • @randyjackson347
      @randyjackson347 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@acemany1126 Don't listen to what you hear.. I bought a new 2020 Camry XLE May of last year.. the transmission is different as it shifts much faster and does not wind out like others do.. it is made by one of the best transmission companies in the world which is Aisen. I also get 46.2 mi to the gallon on the road when I put it in eco mode.. they are great cars and that 2.5 Dyna Force engine is a great advanced engine the same one that is used in Lexus.. Do some research on it and you will see. You will always see critical reviews from people that just like to run their mouth..

I moved to NC and someone hit me and totaled my car so I went to a Hyundai dealership and a Toyota the customer experience was much of the same where the people believed in the product they were selling making it a good experience on a reliable car. I really love all the safety features.. the goal was not to go ham on the options and I still came out with a very well equipped vehicle.

    While much of the car has improved, you can see some of the quality of materials have diminished. The "carpeting" in that car does not at all look like carpeting. You can see at 6:12 that the exposed carpet material in the middle hump in the back is the same material used for the bottom of the front seats--very very cheap almost cardboard like. It also looks like they're using something similar in quality for the trunk lining and the spare tire cover. What ever happened to putting a piece of board over the tire? These are just some nit picking things that I didn't care for. Overall, it's a very nice and very well equipped car for the money. I guess they had to cut corners somewhere. I really do appreciate the way "camry" is spelled out across the back. It looks very classy. They haven't done that sort of thing since 1996.

    Hey Mike. Excellent review. Watching all the way over in Sydney, Australia. Just wondering if you may be able to do a review of the top model (XLE). Thanks

      Nick Hayes The XLE is just one down from XSE. If you want top of the line, go for the XSE :)

      @@randyjackson347 i had this car for 2 years.. sport mode technically turns it off when you shift to manual..
      but it literally makes no difference

    • @randyjackson347
      @randyjackson347 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Sidaik It definitely runs better in sport mode.. When it is in eco mode the transmission shifts even quicker than it does otherwise which is really fast..I will tell you from experience when you go on a trip, if you put it in eco mode it really enables you to get better gas mileage.. I get 46.2 when I put mine in that.
      Is yours one of the top two trims ? XSE, XLE .. they are set up different with different Dynamics.. The sport mode even changes the suspension I don't think you can do that with the other trims..

    The smartphone and car market are heading towards the same trend. Consumers want better looking vehicle at a reasonable price with all the bells and whistles and the smartphone industry they want high end specs with a well built smartphone at a reasonable price.

    The are two things that I really hate about Camry's that I thought Toyota would have corrected with this redesign, but they are still there.
    1.) You can see at 22:26 that there is no "door on" feature for the front reading lamps. Why is it that you can buy a Yaris for $16,000 and get this feature standard, but you can't get it on a Camry that costs $8,000 more? This bothers me sooooo much!!!! I don't think a Camry has EVER had this sort of feature standard. UUUUUUGGGHHH!!!
    2.) There is no button on the trunk. Again, why can you buy a Corolla for $18,000 and get this standard, but you can't get it on a Camry standard which costs you $6,000 more. Again, UUUUUGGGGHHH!!

    wow you get a LOT for base model. hydraulic hood lift, LED headlights, auto high beam, lane departure, collision prevention/warning, touchscreen infotainment system, compared to the 2017 Honda accord it's at least $2k worth of difference for the price.

    Hey Mike, what about MPG and Price? Did I have a distraction and miss it? I tried rechecking but need your help.
    Lots of helpful info.
    I think 4.2" screen is small. And Android Auto or other Voice Command system for driving access..is critical.But of its very quiet inside, handles on wet roads.. its got a lot of free Tech..safety cautions are great..included..
    Seems interesting.
    Honda claims all new sound silencing, smooth ride, and 50MPG..but seems a lot to get upgraded in one year..after sub par models for ride and comfort..Reminded me of an old Checker cab.
    Thanks again..cheers!
