Man, Lego Technic did a better destroyer droid back in 2000! Not only could it actually transform into a ball, but it could spring back out too! That pit droid that could be compressed like the film ones was fun too.
@@Ihavethetouch personally my favorites are the new lego droidika, and the overwatch bastion. I know the technic ones were cool, but i never got my hand on one.
having built and painted some Droidekas for Star Wars Legion in both modes, there is imo a more workable logic than whatever happened there wild to not have any instructions though!
the legs actually fold the other way (fold up) to round out the shape all the black series me and my sister own have something wrong like: stiff shoulders, loose knees/elbows, stuck ankles, etc. I actually broke one the ankle on one of mine because of a stiff joint. the QC on black series is all over the place.
I love this figure, the first Droideka/destroyer droid that you can have so dynamic poses, though only issue I got is some of the joints are loose. Also GameStop nearly didn’t sell me this figure when I was also getting an Appa plush for my sister’s graduation gift cause the street was the day after at the time.

It sure would be nice of the company that owns an entire massive franchise, specializing in the exact gimmick this thing is known for in universe, transforming into its own form of locomotion, would have at least been consulted, on how to engineer it, and make it function. How you gonna make a thing that turns into a ball, not only incapable of rolling like a ball, but only vaguely resemble a ball, at specific angles. Come on
I wonder if the lack of locking tabs is linked to the Star Wars licensing agreement becuase they think tabs will make the toy look "ugly". Kinda similar with the Porscge logo on SS Mirage
I think the figure looks pretty cool and I have one on pre oder. The thing with the transformation, how it's animated in the movies is really interesting. The ball form for it seems to fold more than really allowed in real life. Best way to really look is to play SWBF 2 EA one since they've got it close to 1:1 in the game.
PS, the old version release from idk when, phantom menace, has a droideka that really does fold into a wayyy better wheel. The cons being it's not as detailed and is rare.
I'd look forward to finding these things on eventual clearance. However, the cool droids never seem to show up. My Ollie's is walled with human character StarWar dolls of boring characters.
I think you have the legs rotated wrong. Maybe if you rotate them to where they're facing up they'd collapse more? Also that head looks really wrong all hyper-extended like that, maybe you should collapse it instead? And yes, I know, every other person out there does the same 'transformation', but it still looks really wrong. I'm guessing they're doing that because of the lack of instructions.
Some years ago I would have been excited a lot for this… But now I only feel apathy and 0 interest for Star Wars… I still watch the video cause I enjoy your videos, and heck made me curious enough

Long time not seeing a droideka transform, but I think the third leg should turn around and complete the "wheel" on the back of the robot.

I have a Black Series B-1 Battle Droid, the one that came out around the time that Jedi Survivor did. It's a cool figure but has issues standing.

There was a TCW Droideka and while its balled up form wasn’t great, it at least had locking tabs to hold it all together.
Shoulder issues are widespread I believe. All 4 copies of mine have trash shoulders
I picked up him, the Clone Trooper and Battle Droid 2 pack, and am waiting for the super battle Droid. And yes, my arms are sorta floppy too.

I think I may go for the Lego version. They're better about QC than Hasbro.
You may want to check out the much older Power of the Jedi Destroyer Droid. It has a better transformation.
