- Long Term Review as a Beginner Motorcycle. In this video, I'm reviewing the Indian Scout Bobber as my first bike. I take you through my thoughts on the bike as someone that started and with 1 mile on it with no previous bike to now having ridden over 10,000 miles on it, how it has been performing for me as a starter bike, if I recommend this to others as a first motorcycle and whether or not I plan to keep it in 2023 and Beyond. I have 15k miles on my bobber. I bought it back in early 2020 (1133 CC’s). I found it to be reliable as hell and easy to work on (if you have the manual). I highly recommend this bike to new riders. It’s fun, good looking and fast. Don’t think about it and just get it. I was a new rider too. Ride safe guys.

@@RickyBobber I agree. It’s intimidating at first to work on it but you learn as you go along and then it’s all worth it knowing you worked on it, fork oil change etc.

Wow man I just found your channel today I also live in SD looking to get my first Motorcycle, I'm an MTS bus Operator and in looking for a way to commute faster the traffic on the 805 can be a nightmare In the afternoons. Glad to see your enjoying the bike I've been looking into the scout also.
Although I went with the Scout Sixty, I have to say these bikes are great beginner bikes. As you said, they are perfect to grow into. As you ride more, you get used to the bike, how it rides, and muscle memory starts to get better. The only other bike I ever road was the 250 at my Motorcycle safety course. I am very petite and weigh much less than my bike, so a lot of people were nervous when I said I went all out and bought an Indian as my first bike. " Why not a smaller bike for just starting?" They'd ask. Because I knew I'd quickly grow out of one of those and I had heard Indian bikes were very forgiving. I am very happy with the choice I went with. I even inspired my 50 year old mom to start riding as well.

Unfortunately for me, I live in a country where beginner riders cannot legally ride a Scout due to its engine size. But after seeing all these videos, I definitely want to own one of these 2015 onwards Indian Scouts.
69 cu in scout was my first bike and it is a perfect bike. compared to a rebel 500, this bike is in a league its own
2700 on my 2023 Scout, but it's my daily and I ride to Temecula from Chula most days of the week so it's gonna keep climbing and fast lol. This thing is a dream and you were right on the money with what you had to say about it!
I chose the scout bobber twenty as my first bike and I have to admit it was one of the best decisions of my life! Exactly the way you explain it, that's how I feel it too. I've test ridden a number of motorcycles and none were as agile and flexible as this one.. Of course with the larger bikes you have more presence, but also more weight, a larger turning radius and also more fuel consumption. So if you can afford it as your first motorcycle or even as an experienced driver, you shouldn't hesitate for a second and get this baby because you won't regret it for a second! I test rode a Scout and found myself scraping hard parts going around corners. Ended up with a 2023 Chieftain Elite, ZERO regrets for my first American bike and cruiser style ride.

Have had a number of bikes in my lifetime. '71 Kawasaki, 1969 Norton 750 Interstate, 1969 BSA Thunderbolt, 2007 Harley V-rod Nightrod. The bobber is the most stylish design I have owned. Love it. My motto? "Performance 3rd after looks and Style!' Hahahahaha.

I was planning making my motorcycle license since years. One or two weeks ago, I have seen the Indian Scout Bobber for the first time and I instantly fell in love with the looks. Now I have to start with the license and I must buy this thing :D
I love my bobber. I added the freedom combat exhaust, the mini quarter fairing , also just converted the front tire to the one on the rogue. Fits right on.

Hey Ricky, I also got the 22 ISB as my first motorcycle. I ordered it in August after many hours of research (thanks to your channel and some others), I decided to order one. It got delivered in October and I have loved it ever since. I am having the time of my life. There truly is no feeling like riding a motorcycle. I was worried that I was in over my head when I got it because of the weight and engine size, but your video sums it up perfectly. As a shorter guy it fits me awesome, and the weight balances very well. Lastly I expected to be jumping out of the seat when shifting gears but the bike really does not scare you unless you ask for it. It was very different compared to my friend's Ninja 300 which had an insane jump from 0, but the power kind of fell off afterwards. Anyways, great video and thank you for making me feel confident in buying my first motorcycle.

Well done. I have to agree with most everything. A little history. Current bike: 2021 standard Scout 69. Me: 66 yr. old - 5'10" 225lb. 49 yrs. experience. Having ridden many, and owning several HD's, this bike does everything I need it to. I no longer tour, and my daily rides are typically 50 > 70 miles. A lot of things would have to go south before I would give up this bike. No one bike is going to satisfy every rider, and the only problem I have with this bike is the permanent smile. As far as good 1st bike, like you said, it depends on the person / personality. Bike has more than enough power to get you into trouble, but also forgiving at the same time. I do not try to impress or look for compliments, but I get plenty. Now I just have to get through the next 3 mo. (WIS )

That's exactly how I feel about my 2022 scout bobber. Your previous videos helped me finally pull the trigger and pre-ordered back in March. I recently got it late Aug. Best decision I've made. This is also my first bike and I don't see myself ever getting rid of it. Maybe in the future I'll get a second bike.

My advice since it worked for me is to take it easy until your muscle memory is built. Stopping and knowing what to do without thinking about where you have to put your foot or hand is key. Do that before hitting the highway or doing group rides

100% agree... been riding for 20 some years with a pretty big break in between, have had the bobber since 21...love it. Agree with op, keeping it and will eventually add pursuit or challenger. Previous and first bike was an 85 yamaha maxim which took me cross country, bullet proof. 91 softail... now this bobber. Amazing bike.

😊Bought about a month ago. 2024 Scout Bobber same 100hp never ridden before but boy is it fun and easy to learn on. Haven’t been able to drive it much unfortunately but every time I do I get more used to it fast. It’s definitely beginner friendly in my opinion.

First, I've got to say that I absolutely love ❤️ the look of that bike!!! I currently have a 2022 Honda Rebel 500. I chose it for a couple of reasons, I love the look of it, I'm a new rider (since July 2022) and we'll I'm short so it fits just right 😄 I've put a lot of miles on it already (over 4800!) and I love it! I've commuted to work with it and been on a long road trip as well. I already want to upgrade to the 1100, but I'm gonna keep this for a while. I would definitely consider getting the Indian Scout Bobber as an upgrade or as a second bike! Maybe someday 😉

What did u bought?? I'm owning yamaha virago 535 ...this is my second season with it ... but I don't feel slow ...75 miles per hour can be hold on without problem and going up to 110-115 if needed ...but in that kind of speed the wind is already annoying/strong and not enjoyable ( yes I have no shield as most of Indians doesn't as well) . And here in Europe the highway is mostly restricted to 75-80. Overtaking is also smooth as well... and just now I'm starting riding the bike really well cornering and such stuff ... learning .... my personal opinion is .. if u can't ride a 500cc bike to its full potential and capabilities u shouldn't going to heavyweight class ... learn, use its potential move on ... but I will still keep mine after I get to the Indian... such a light and squishy bike is always fun to ride.

I've had my Indian scout rogue for 10 months and I learned on a little Honda monkey so going from the monkey to the scout was a huge jump. I would say if you know that you're a safe rider then you can get it for a first bike. I have 12,000 miles on it and love everything about the bike.

I've been looking at this bike for the last few weeks as a starter bike. I'm trying to get a day off work to go look at it in person. Hopefully, the weather will be nice so I can try it. But living in the far northeast, it can be 60 one day and 40s the next this time of the year. As long as it's not raining I would have a problem trying it.

I love my bike so much! I have a 60, so a bit smaller, but the torque is still awesome. Great all around bike! I've had a Honda VTX1300 and a Triumph Street Twin, and the Indian Scout Bobber Sixty has been such a great bike for me. BTW, when I was in my high school years, my dad had two twin turbo Nissan 280zx...one of which, I ended up fishtailing off a dirt road up a dirt embankment because the back end rear wheel drive got away from me 🤷♂️😳🤣

I got my Scout Bobber last year at Indian of SD. I got my first bike when I was 8 yo, and rode through high school, but quit when I joined the Navy. I was self-taught and never got more than a learner's permit. But this time I went through the CSMP training and actually got licensed. So, the Scout was really my first big boy bike. It's insane how much I love my Scout and think I made the best decision regarding the bike to choose. I love how customizable it is. I've upgraded the shocks and added the LED headlight, rear rack, Dean Speed highway bars and sliders and a 22" DS sissy bar. Did I see you riding with the bobber fly screen? What do you think of it?
Still working towards my full licence. But as soon as I do, I'm after a bobber or a rogue for sure,

Idk who the question was for but I did consider the sixty. I went to demo one and they didn't have one. So I rode the regular. Even as a new rider I thought it wasn't that bad. So I went with the 69 (1133)

I have about 95 miles on it so far I am liking it. It's a Twenty, my first motorcycle. The issue I had was with check engine light which the dealer said is because of the battery.
Congrats! I'd guess the battery also. Auto zone battery has been working great for me

I had the scout, and traded for the Springfield DH ,after 7 months of having the scout.The Springfield DH,is what attracted me to Indian motorcycle in the first place. I’m loving the Springfield way more actually. I sometimes miss the scout though it’s a lot easier getting it of the garage for quick ride.

My first bike was a 1973 yamaha 50cc trail bike. This was in 1974 or 1975. I've had a Suzuki dirt bike two kawasaki kx dirt bikes and two road bikes prior to the scout and scout bober I bought for myself and my wife. The scout isn't just a starter bike it's damn fast for a cruiser and enough bike for anyone that doesn't ride cross country.

Why would u say enough for anyone that doesn't ride cross country ?? Indian looks it czn be ridden across the country like nothing ... there are comfort mods and the luggage options as well... God I'm riding cross countries ( in europe) on my yamaha virago 535 ..which is in comparison half the bike the Indian is . And I have no problem whatsoever ...enough power , enough luggage space ... enough comfort ... I can easily keep the speed at 75 miles per hour ... and the bike is willing to go up to 110-115 if needed ( but not necessary) yeah ... the only thing is that I have to refill the tank after 110-120 miles ... so the only setback... but on a motorcycle u need to make more stops anyway . Not hating ..just asking why u think about the Indian that way ?

I plan on buying one of these in the coming months. I'm also open to the possibility of an Indian Chief Dark Horse. It's not currently riding season in PA. This'll be my fourth bike, but first of that type. The first 3 bikes I've owned were the Honda CBR600RR and 2 different Kawasaki KLR650s. First KLR650 I bought was from a private seller who set it up much like a dirt bike. Damn friction zone had zero chill and was a bit rough on the upshifting. Needless to say I got rid of that one rather quick. Its modded novelties irritated me pretty quick. The second one is still in my possession. Like the first, the one I am still holding on to is a Gen 1 KLR650. I'm over and done with the crotch rockets and the awful posture it takes to ride those things. It hurts my back way too much. Fun bikes when you're still young, durable, and have a healthy back. :D
I've heard the bobber is a good transition bike from a sports bike. The scout bobber bars are low but the Scout twenty is all the same stuff with mini apes and spoked rims. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment
@@RickyBobber That's good to know! I've also heard they ride a lot like the HD V-rod Muscle. A bike the HD snobs absolutely hated for whatever reason. I rode my cousin's v-rod a few years back and it was an absolute blast! It's a shame it was discontinued. IMO, it was the only Harley worth owning.
I just went on Indian's site to build a bike and see what the estimated cost would be. I was surprised with the stuff I wanted kept the MSRP under $14,500. If it had been "that other brand," the price would have been upwards of $30,000 just because; it's a LiFeStYlE! ;)
@Electric Worry yeah! The Vrod was also a liquid cooled engine. The price is another deciding factor. It's a no brainer

Hey, so I found out about this bike a few weeks ago and have loved the look since then. Right now I own a Honda CBR 500 R and am looking to upgrade to the Scout Bobber. My only worries are about the fuel, since it doesn't have a fuel gauge which is a pretty scary thought to me. I heard it also doesn't have the best range with a full tank, is that right? And also, I usually ride city or country roads, but do want to go on the occasional longer trip in a group. Do you think this bike is right for that kind of riding? Love your videos, they help me a lot, greetings from Austria!
It doesn't have a gauge but it has a low gas indicator and you have about 20-30 miles after that before you run out. It's never been a problem for me. I get about 130 miles per tank. 150 if I'm doing all highway

I’d like to get one too, It would be my first bike too and also new rider of course, but not sure if it would be good for highway rides, I get a lot of traffic everyday so that would be my first reason to get a motorcycle

The scout bobber twenty is my all time favorite bike so far but I just dont qualify to finance one right now so im most likely going to be starting on a Honda Shadow and then trading it in for a new scout bobber twenty later on.

@@RickyBobber Yeah it took some major convincing to get the wife to agree but so far it looks like i'll be riding in early March. Going to have to try to be respectful and hopefully talk someone down to $1500 for a bike so I can afford decent riding gear.

How do you even learn too ride a motorcycle im scared.. im a truck driver and that was scary at first some might say driving a truck is way harder idk a motorcycle seems more harder too me but ive never ridden one always felt dangerous and scared of them.
But i would like too get my dad an Indian and my wife and me so i can ride with my family..
@nick barcenas if you take a riders course like the MSF course they teach you to ride. They start slow, so first, you learn to walk the bike then get used to the clutch and brakes. Then slowly move on to riding, stopping and changing gears. Id bet an 18 wheeler is much harder to manage
@Ricky Bobber Moto see i didnt even know there was such a course i thought you had too know someone or just buy a bike and mess it up lol.. i didnt know you had too go through truck driving school either didnt know that was a thing i also thought you took a test and had too know someone with a truck too teach you lol..
I never drove a manual transmission i mean i took my class a test in a 10 speed manual but since i got my license 5yrs ago ive only driven automatics so i definitely dont have the timing down for shifting..
Maybe one day ill learn too ride..

It’s a fantastic bike but I’d say the fact it isn’t LAMS approved kinda automatically disqualifies it from the title of “best beginner bike” or “best beginner cruiser”. Best bike for someone switching from a car who already has their full licence sure but anyone who is getting their bike licence as their first vehicle licence is likely gonna be a relatively experienced rider the time they’re legally allowed to ride this bike
I hope the scout bobber gets the tft dash on the chief dark horse and ftr I traded in my scout bobber 60 for a sportster s
I don't think they'll ever add a screen to the bobber. The idea of a Bobber is to be minimal. No key fob no cruise control no screen. Maybe with the Rogue cause it's technically not a "bobber"
Harley stopped selling entry entry level bike- venenerable Sportster. Choosing rather to sell high end only. Many Harley customers are migrating to Indian for a good reason.

Always loved the Indian Scout bobber but I opted out for a Yamaha vstar 1100, hate the fact that I only have 5 gears compared to the 6 in the Indian, if you’re a crazy driver yeah get yourself a rebel, but if you think you can handle the power and you don’t give in to the temptation I say 1000cc+ is good for you.

if you buy a cruiser type bike thats under 1000cc you will regret it. My cousin and i switched bike couple years ago, he had the bolt, i had the zx6r. and the bolt was slow as hell, even tho it was twice as big of an engine as my bike. It sucked to get out of blind spots etc.

I REALLY wanted to start with an Indian bike or the AT. Indians are just too beautiful to make easily avoidable mistakes in and the AT had a bit too much juice and weight in the tank for me as a beginner. I went with the next best bike, the Tenere-700. Some might argue it's still a bit big for a starter bike but this is where I landed. I can flat foot it and have reached a lvl of discipline to where I won't loop it because a few chics were "checking me out" lol...

Weird thing for me is I have a trident 660 and it has enough power for highways and everything I need yet I’m kinda bored of it. I’m not sure what it is about it.

@@RickyBobber I keep looking into it I really like mid controls I’m torn between the Speed Twin and the Scout. I really like the FTR but I feel like I won’t use it for it’s intended purpose. I never get my Trident into higher RPMs and I use my bike as my main source of transportation.

I can't speak from experience on this as I'm only 5'8"ish but I once did a poll on my community page and asked Scout riders which height group they're in and alot of them answered 6' 2" or taller
I'd say try one first somehow. Demo day, rental. Etc. Might Not be the most comfortable option for you

If you trying to decide between an indian scout or a honda rebel 1100. then you have to look at the foot controls. I just love the front foot control look. That is why im going to get the scout bobber instead of a honda rebel 1100, mid controls just look gay af in my opinion.

what makes this bike a beginner bike? i just bought the scout 1133cc as my 3rd bike. I dont think this should be someones first bike. its quick. you can get in trouble on it if you dont know what youre doing.
Oh man, I wish that I had my very first car, which was a 67 Chevy Caprice. I paid $750.00 for it in 1981. That car was completely stock, and it ran like a top.
