Seen Minolta7D in 2nd hand shop, looks pristine. Question is, can I convert camera to view through mobile phone or add-on screen?

You cannot without some significant technical knowledge. These phones pre-date smart phones. To the best of my knowledge, you'd need to find or code a bespoke app to do that.

Just got the 7D some days ago. Read a lot of black screen of death. Have you ever come across that?

Not that exactly. This one had a bad sensor (which is not uncommon, I hear) and all the images were out of focus and purple. The first-gen digital cameras are, as a blanket statement, struggling now.

ADi stands for advanced distance integration, lenses that have the D nomenclature can measure the distance to the subject and that information is used by ADI to control the flash power in TTL. I never found the results good using Konica Minolta flashes in TTL at least 1/3 stop difference if the subject was very close.

Verify that your battery is good and, if so, then sell it for parts or repair on eBay as-is. You'll get something for it. Parts for these are scarce.
